  1. But then, don't you see the STUDS (which are not black)?
  2. I think I understand now, the problem is the "reglet" is not recessed but flush with surface of wall.
  3. Michael, would you mind posting a plan using your technique. I have not been able to make it work. Thanks.
  4. That is the problem, the roof with the skylights is not square. Hey Curt, other than that issue, nice job..... I am not sure if I would of done it that way..... but next time I will.... thanks for the education....
  5. What is the lesson? Post the plan and you will get some great help from some great guys, and the Chopster is always very helpful. Thanks Chop.
  6. Yep, Michael is one of the best. but of course my client would say... "let's change that 4020 to a 5016 "........ and I would need to start the process over again..... point is, it would be great if CA fixed this lapse in their program.
  7. Why don't you post the plan? You have been around enough to know that is what you need to do.
  8. DJP is a Texan, but we do not hold that against him, he is a good guy.

as you can see on this plan of mine, I am putting the roof ply/starter boards on the ROOF FINISH. I am still wondering where and why it should be at either the ROOF STRUCTURE or the ROOF FINISH/SURFACE.

Eric, I noticed you put the ROOF PLYWOOD as part of the ROOF FINISH and not part of the ROOF STRUCTURE. I was thinking it made more sense to put the ROOF PLYWOOD as part of the ROOF STRUCTURE and not the ROOF FINISH. I am thinking of how the ROOF BASELINE is determined. What do you think...... I am not sold on any method yet..... I think it has a lot to do with the ROOF BASELINE ........ I have not done enough experimentation to make a final determination.
  13. Michael is one of the best. It is worth watching all of his vids.
  14. I assume this can be done with a custom symbol, but I ain't going to figure it out. The issue is you cannot OFFSET BOTTOM CORNERS. Something I have requested before. You can offset the top corners but not bottom corners.

Maybe you need to download the materials to your library again.
  16. This is the MAC I have been using the past 4 years... good to go. Later this year they are coming out with an upgraded IMAC, I will probably by a new IMAC. I used a PC before CA ported to MAC. I had few problems with the PC..... but I am essentially computer illiterate..... since CA ported to a MAC, I use the MAC....... I get the best MAC possible and I assume it is good to go, and it is. I do not have time and I do not want think about the hardware specs. I get the most recent MAC and I am happy.
  17. Not necessarily, you can choose what you want shown on the ref sets. I do not think you understand the power of the ref sets. I suggest you learn them.
  18. That is not correct. I do not like to use invisible walls. The invisible wall method will work but as I said it can get messy and I think Perry would agree. The exterior stairs can easily be shown via ref sets. I assume the stairs were drawn on level one. I am assuming they are not showing on level 2. Typically what I do is to put the EXTERIOR STAIRS (NOT IN A ROOM) on a layer called STAIRS ON GRADE (or whatever name you want), and then if you understand ref sets, you would ref the level 1 from level 2, you can then turn on ref sets and turn on the STAIRS ON GRADE layer. You will now see the stairs that are drawn on level 1 as you are looking at level 2. If you do not understand ref sets, I would suggest you learn them.
  19. I usually show exterior stairs via the ref sets. Creating a room around exterior stairs will work but can get messy.
  20. or try to reset the toolbars
  21. Select the string, open, and then uncheck PRIMARY DEFAULTS and then change to what you want. That should work.
  22. It's about 60/40 for me with the majority prefab fireplaces. Masonry fireplaces are a big problem if the chimney height needs to be increased. Most of the time it is more cost efficient to tear it down and put in a prefab. I think I have extended the height of a masonry fireplace maybe twice... a big hassle.
  23. Just to be clear JPC, it takes me 4 consecutive key strokes to enable your request. I think it would take a minimum of one key stroke, it takes me 4 keystrokes, so....... 3 extra keystrokes * 0.002 seconds * 30 operations * 2 plans* 52 weeks* 24 years = 449.28 seconds = 7.488 minutes for a 24 year period. My suggestion would be to start ordering your starbucks coffee on line and then pick up (no waiting). You will make up that 7.488 minutes on your first visit. I am off to play golf for only the 5th time this week....... nuts, life is tough.
  24. lol, no, I did not think of that. Hey CA, fix this please.
