  1. Yeah, that works. I am working on a house with slab. 2 areas need to be raised, one by 6" the other by 12". I chose the sleeper method for this project. A slab for the 6" dropped area could work. Project in Solana Beach..... dld I ever say how much I hate working in Solana Beach? I do not think I will ever do another house in Solana Beach.....
  2. Yes, the sleepers should be part of THE FLOOR FINISH, not part of THE STRUCTURE. adding a floor is asking for trouble, Sorry Eric, A non-starter for me. think about it..... it is a FINISH.
  3. I concur, I rarely rarely rarely drag walls.....
  4. You are new, post your plan and somebody will help you.
  5. If you are talking about the horizontal lines I have highlighted, I recently ran into this. Here is my fix........ in a 3d view, select wall, open it.... say a few curse words........ and then close it. FIXED, at least that is what I did for 4 different locations on the same elevation view. I cannot explain it, I did not change wall type, I did not align the walls..... I did nothing except open the walls and the close. Please let me know if this worked for you.
  6. That is the easiest way to get what you want.
  7. Thanks P., very helpful.
  8. Glenn, This is great, thanks a ton.
  9. Thanks, I think that makes sense. I wonder if anybody has used it that way. I was hoping I could add the same tile to two different objects that are side by side and then offset the tile on one object without effecting the tile location on the second object. If I wanted to do what I just described, I think I would need to copy the material and rename, thus having 2 materials that were exactly alike except the pattern, texture, angle could be unique to each object.
  10. GLOBAL SYMBOL MAPPING, does anybody understand it? See CA's explanation below. I do not get it.
  11. Here is a good vid by CA dealing with finding materials on line. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/10145/creating-custom-tile-materials.html However the solution for the PATTERN can be tedious. If anybody knows of a vid explaining how to make a custom pattern, that would be super.
  12. While we are at it, does anybody have the pattern in the pic? Notice the 33% offset.
  13. I think Perry's method works good. have you ever blocked a post on a footing? Try it. I bet it disappears in a 3D view.. that goes back 12 years, I don't know if they ever fixed it.
  14. Yep. Almost a useless feature for me. In fact I have never used it.
  15. Great elevations, I think the only thing I would change is to take off the door and window labels. One of labels is completely covering up a window..... so you move it.... it takes time.... change size of window.... you probably have to move the label again.... I say let the contractor refer to floor plan if he wants to know the window call out...... but you are right, the color and the texture and your shadows make that a very understandable elevation.
  16. I can't wait until the cities only accept DIGITAL PRINTS. Then we have greater flexibility with the format we use. Because of the printing process, we cannot use color or the render views which are the formats I prefer. Color printing for rendering AND PLAN VIEWS will make reviewing the plans so much easier for plan reviewers. I have a feeling the print companies will have a very tough time staying in business. I was talking to the Manager of my health club and he told me because of the digital age, he is USING MORE PAPER. I think that is because his heirarchy has not adapted to the digital age.
  17. You have a slab under the living room. change to raised floor assembly and you should get what you want.
  18. Great info Graham.
  19. I gave him a few points.....
  20. Ain't that a pistol, I can't find the 2 GANG, but I did find a 3 GANG, and then I created a 7 GANG by putting 7 switches close together.
  21. Put in two switches side by side and they become one.

    Rafters

If you build the roof correctly, the rafters will auto build if you have that function turned on.
  23. terrain breaks can be unpredictable at times. I do not think there is one answer that fits all situations. There seem to be different solutions for different scenarios. The advice I can give is to post a plan with the problem you are having and somebody may have a solution for your particular situation that helps us all.
  24. Yeah, a very very very very thin layer over the studs (maybe .00003" thick) that is black..... that should be the answer, thanks Michael.
