  1. I understand. I did not use that plan. I did open the plan with the rooms and I understand the dilemma. Interesting though that if I disconnect the wall in bath 2, see pic., the alignment behaves.
  2. In defense of Tech support, nobody knows everything. Even the Great Glenn Woodward has a few chinks in his armor (framing). We just need to stick together and share our knowledge and we will all become more proficient.
  3. You had not created ROOMS. You only had two walls. As soon as I made those walls part of a ROOM, the walls aligned. I suppose the point is.... THE ALIGN WALL tool will not work for walls that are not part of a ROOM.
  4. Jeff, It would be awesome if you were able to do a vid showing your process or better yet, a GOTOMEETING that I would be willing to host.
  5. Flat out awesome!!! Great vid Michael, thank you very much.
  6. try this, OPEN RECENT FILE
  7. Just imagine this is not your plan and somebody posts this info. Do you really think you would spend time trying to figure out what the heck you are talking about without a plan. I give up.
  8. Nice render RENERABBITT, i wonder if it would be even better if the "eye" was about 30" lower..... in any case, very nice. How long did it take to render?
  9. I swear, if you post the plan, you will get more answers than you want..... just post your plan please.......
  10. Great thread... I would put in POSTS separately (maybe as symbols, RACKLAMORE did a great job with the visual.......... so, POSTS as symbols and ..... here is the key..... the top rail and the cable railing as MOLDING POLYLINE........ the deck itself is defined as an invisible wall...... another great topic for the DSHW.
  11. It appears to me ifI use my second monitor (IT IS A MAC), the program slows down, so I keep CA on one monitor. For the ALDO, a hot keeps brings it up, a hot key puts it away.... is saves real estate. I would be it takes me less time to hot key on and off versus having my mouse travel to second monitor so I do not miss the advantage of using 2 monitors. Happy Mothers Day to all the Mom's, enjoy the Player's Championship, and....... I wish the Charger's were still in San Diego.
  12. R311.4 Vertical egress. Egress from habitable levels includ- ing habitable attics and basements not provided with an egress door in accordance with Section R311.2 shall be by one or more ramps in accordance with Section R311.8 or one or more stairways in accordance with Section R311.7 or both. For habitable levels or basements located more than one story above or more than one story below an egress door, the maximum travel distance from any occupied point to a stairway or ramp that provides egress from such habitable level or basement, shall not exceed 50 feet (15 240 mm).
  13. It might only be a UBC CODE requirement. The exiting Chapter, Section 1004.2.3.2, exception 4, allow 1 exit from a third floor of a dwelling unit, if it does not exceed 500 sq ft. So if you have 501 sq ft on the 3rd floor, a second exit would be required. If this is an "existing 2nd floor", I would assume it is definitely over 500 sq ft, so the above is probably mute.
  14. wow, if you can send me a copy, that would be awesome, thanks.
  15. You are missing posting the plan so somebody can help you.
  16. sorry about the incomplete post, I was distracted for a moment.
  17. Hi Guys, I am hoping you can help me out. I am designing a CARRIAGE HOUSE/ACCESSORY UNIT per the 2016 CBC It is 3 story, 1st floor is garage and the other two floors are habitable. The question is, since it is a 3 story, do I need 2 exits/2 sets of stairs from the 3rd floor ...... and if so, if I limited the top floor to less than 400 s.f., do I still need 2 exits.2 sets of stairs or can I get by with only one set of stairs. It seems to me, that if the 3rd floor was limited to 400 s.f., I only need one set of stairs per the UBC,
  18. Yeah, I thought of that, might be doable......
  19. Super, thanks Glenn, I will look into it when I get a chance...... I think I was thinking of using a different font that did have the filled boxes, but I had not successfully completed the task.
  20. Really? WOW, that is not good. Another good topic for the DSHW. I would like to create a line style with SQUARE FILLED BOXES (this is a line style I would use to show some BMP barriers) (not 3d boxes), but I do not think i can do that. I think we are limited to DASHES, DOTS, TEXT (20 mm max). I would also like to create a line with "X's"(to designate cad drawn fences), (I know I can use the LETTER X, but would rather create my own "x")
  21. I just don't know why you and anybody else who needs help would not post a small plan so helpers can help you. What is so hard to understand about that. I was thinking like Curt because I did not have a plan to refer to. But after reading your question several times, I finally figured out that changing the text style will not work, it is the LINE STYLE you need to EDIT. Your problem is with the LINE STYLE you are using. I know as much about line style as I do about quantum mechanics, but I would bet you need to create a new LINE STYLE with the LETTER "P" at a larger size. How is that answer for reading between the lines. Please post plans in the future, you will get an answer much quicker.
  22. Hello, where did that come from? Thx Eric.
  23. I did not go into the super details, but the first step would be to turn on your EXTERIOR CASING for the door.
  24. Your attached file contains no data. You must close the file prior to attaching, and then attach file and post. This is a very good question. Let's see what you have.
