Draw all three pcs in an elevation view from the side. No subtraction necessary. That will be quite the beam. 30+ ' span ?
-
It is just math. It is the fractions that make it seem difficult. Construct your formula from one that is known.
-
You could paste it back into your plan from the cad detail but why not just use your layers to display the actual structure just the way you want it to look ? You can make a Room Polyline or Living Area Polyline from the exterior room if that is all you need like at the very end of the video.

That would be great Glenn if it was not metric.

Designing a swimming pool bottom of varying depth.

That looks a bit like a magic molding to me. -
Can The 'Backdrop' Be Set To Move With The Camera View?
Chopsaw replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
It will depend on the situation if it is just a view from one or two windows or the entire structure and terrain. You can use an actual image the way chief does 2D plants and rotates them so they look 3D. Or you can make a giant or maybe not quite so big polyline solid as Larry did and apply your background image as a material. I have done a complete cylinder around my entire project but the issue with that is that it blocks the sun so that you have issues with shadows but maybe if you did one large enough you could replace the sun with another light source but then your background may get a little too grainy as the Chief panoramic setting does. Refine you question a bit and maybe I can help. -
Creating Basement after Main Floor is Built
Chopsaw replied to ChiefUserChelsea's topic in General Q & A
This is only a problem in real life. But in chief you are doing it exactly right. Just use the "Build Foundation..." tool rather than the "Build New Floor..." tool. It is just a little lower down in the same drop down. -
Hi Kevin, I guess I need to review my tech support case again as I thought they were able to get that issue resolved but must have broken it again. I completely understand your frustration.
-
Interesting. Maybe try another cabinet or save and restart chief or even restart your operating system. Have not seen that one before.

One night free stay at the Evening Star of course !

Slab running bond block material 45 deg off on top face
Chopsaw replied to Christina_Girerd's topic in General Q & A
Huh... Solid or Symbol would be the solution I suppose. -
Slab running bond block material 45 deg off on top face
Chopsaw replied to Christina_Girerd's topic in General Q & A
I guess it really would not make a difference if it was a "concrete" slab but you may have found an exploitable feature. Unfortunately not quite suitable for your current project though. -
Yes I get that, but buy group selecting you can change all the characteristics of the Rich Text that would be controlled by the Layer. Or maybe I am not quite getting the picture of what you are hoping to accomplish.
-
Copy and Paste I suppose. Or group select and change manually.
-
It looks a lot like a roof return but you may need to draw it manually to be able to correctly modify the materials.

Is it the risers that are gray ? Maybe make them white for that view, or place a cad patch over them. Post the file if that is all wrong.
-
Something like this maybe ? Or Solid White.
-
True, and it should likely be looked into but as you can see by the material I posted for you it is difficult to get a completely seamless material using that tool so you are better off using a different tool to capture and a photo editing software.

Those are not really considered to be tools in the same sense that most of the other buttons are. Not so sure that the software is set up to have those open on more than one window at a time. It would almost be like having two instances of the software running in parallel. It may be a nice option and possible to program but there are plenty of other things that don't work at all that should be a priority in my opinion.

It seems we need to wait another month, but you never know it may be possible to catch a glimpse in one of the earlier webinars if you are paying attention.

It may just be a mac thing. Maybe give tech support a call tomorrow. Maybe this will hold you over till then. Charisma Delight Herringbone.calibz

Take a look at Lumion or Twinmotion. You can search discussions of both her on this forum. You just export your 3D model, not your drawings. You may want to also have a look a the Chief Architect preview of X13 rendering as it is rumored to be completely updated.
