The current free version of Adobe is Adobe Reader DC which I don't believe has an included PDF generator. So try using the "Chief Architect Save As PDF" then open and view with Adobe Reader DC and print from there. Adobe Acrobat does have a PDF generator included with it but it is not free. If that does not work try the purely Apple route.

That is an issue.... You currently can not do it that way and cross platforms. If you save with "Chief Architect Save as PDF" or Adobe you will need to view and print with Adobe. Otherwise use Apple Preview for both and it may work that way. Not sure if Apple Preview is vector like "Chief Architect Save as PDF" is, so there is that to consider as well.

This is great information which in the long run may help Chief solve and fix this problem for everyone. However there are many PDF generators that can be run from within the Chief "Export PDF" or "Print View" DBX's. If you can clarify this then maybe we will all be able to print consistently from the generated PDF's. Once that issue has been resolved then Chief can maybe focus on being able to print from the plan file to a specified printer.

You could use a note schedule as a door schedule with some fancy macros but then how would you differentiate your note schedules from your object schedules ? I think a little cad touch up once the door schedule is complete would be the better option.

How does it look now ?

You are still not making it clear what you are using to create the PDF. The key is to use a PDF creator that is compatible with the PDF printer you are using. Some are reporting that using Apples' preview app for both PDF creation and printing has worked. Otherwise the Chief Architect version of "Chief Architect Save As PDF" is compatible with Adobe products for viewing and printing.

It seems to happen when a file is opened on another computer with a different screen resolution or in your situation possibly an unknown screen resolution while undocked. The solution is to group select your text boxes and open and close them. The fix is up to Chief Architect so make sure you tell them how much paper they wasted. There are only so many trees left on the planet.

Try placing a polyline solid through the wall connection and apply a lead material to it about 1" thick. If that does not fix it you might want to upload your file here or send it to tech support.

So the issue is when you are printing directly to your HP 7740 ? What did you print through the Adobe app and which app was it ? I don't think anyone has experienced issues using the "Chief Architect Save As PDF" and then printing with Adobe Reader or Acrobat, so if that is happening it would be a new issue.

You make a Feature Request of course. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/forum/8-suggestions/

No, you can just apply decking material to the psolid or material region.

Are you suggesting that there should be another? It would actually be just about the best of both worlds if it worked the way it was originally intended to work. So Mick is correct in saying neither work properly in all situations.

Click on your main layer and make sure the default settings on the bottom left are correct.

Can you post a shot of your wall definition ? There are new settings there that do not use the material definitions anymore.

Yes just go to your digital locker and the X13 download will be 23.5.0.55 Or here with the update notes. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/updates.html

I think you will have better luck deleting the deck room (landing) all together and replacing it with at landing. I think the stair connections and railings will work out much better. The only downfall would be the manual support framing but you could likely cut and hold the posts and footings in memory and just past them back after deleting the room.

I think it is for grapes not people.

I would think you could likely get away with using the Square Mesh in the Materials Wire and Lattice Bonus Catalog for that.
-
Have you perhaps changed computers ? I think it has to do with a change in screen resolution and Chief seems to not be able to compensate for that quite properly. With a little searching you should be able to find several threads on the subject but off hand I don't think there is a solution yet other than the one you are using.

That may not actually be close enough to use that tool. Not sure if the tolerances are the same in 3D or not though. Although if it is not close enough the tool should not be available so you may have an issue to send in.

Convert Chief Architect 9 Pl1 file to Home Designer 2022 file.
Chopsaw replied to 4Janos's topic in Tips & Techniques
It looks like there will be a few issues to resolve with textures and patterns and maybe some window heights and a gable end wall but you should be able to manage I think. Studio.plan -
This would be the Front Center file if you manually join all the individual polyline segments together and create a closed poyline and then convert that to a Terrain Perimeter.

X10 and they still have not restored the functionality we had in X9. The new feature should have been an alternate function or at the very least the old function should have been made the alternate function.

Link is not working for the .layout file and the layout file needs the referenced .plan file to work. You will need to save both of them and close chief to upload them. You may also need to put them in separate posts to be under 14MB.
