I will give that a shot! Sorry it looks like chief will import a Description... Just not sure if the data is workable or not.
-
Doug that should import ok if you dump the Description column. Maybe do that in excel first.

The Bump distance is not Hard-Coded, it is whatever you set in Plan Defaults > Plan ..... for your Snap Unit ... I find I change it 2- 4 times a day, depending on what I am doing , that was why I made a Suggestion for a Dropdown with perhaps 5 preset distances we could alter as we'd like ... I had hoped to see it in X13 actually.... What I meant was the hard coded wall snaps. I thought that was clear in the context of what I was saying. If you know a way to change that please please please let us know. I also change the grid snaps quite frequently and missed your suggestion but it is a good one for sure.
-
I get the exact same behaviour in X12. It seems to work fine with the tab key if you need to move a specific distance. Be sure to make it clear that you do not want the hard coded snap distance increased unless they make it adjustable or allow us to turn it off.
-
Wow I wish that could be changed or over ridden somehow in certain situations... but no, sorry just a pipe dream. It seems that it is exceeded with a 0 thickness wall and 1" snaps. Easily reproducible in any direction. The key being the wall thickness I think.
-
No not really unless your arrow key snap distance exceeds the auto connect threshold.
-
Rotate you baseline.

I guess it depends on what you are looking for.

Actually once you have text or a macro in the "Label" that should report to the schedule so not sure why it is not functioning that way for you.
-
Yes that can be done. Use an OIP field such as "Code" and place the %schedule_number% macro in there and then edit the column heading of the material list to "Schedule #" and you are all set.
-
Yes you could use the wall ID or simple schedule number or schedule number without the schedule prefix. I believe they are auto generated based on draw order.
-
What makes you think hatching can be scheduled ? It does have a label so there are some things it can done but not an auto schedule.
-
I think what you are after is the Wall "Number" and not the Label unless you want to individually enter a custom label for each wall.

Displaying a door open in one view and closed in another

If that does not work for what you need to accomplish there are other methods that can be utilized. The software is pretty versatile, but it sometimes requires a little extra effort. -

There is one exception if you are using plot lines for your elevations. These do not update when you print so you can change the orientation after updating your plot line views and have something different in your live views or other plot line views. Also camera views can be sent to layout as images so that can also be a solution. -
If you are looking for something like this. I think that needs to be done manually. Multi pitch roofs are auto generated by the wall settings but you do not seem to have walls for the gables do you ?
-
Those are actually lines from your busted up porch ceiling with the soffit and eavestrough running through it from the garage roof. However even sorting all that out only gets rid of one extra post. Turning auto roof back on fixes the railing but you have wandered a long way from auto roof which may not have even been necessary on a build like this. It looks like you could have gone at least 95% of the way with auto roof if not 100%. The other thing that fixes the railing is the "Generate on Low Platform" railing setting. But again it causes other issues like sinking through your floor finish but that may not need to be set up the way it is either. Not really sure what the best solution would be but that may help you or someone else narrow it down a bit.

Are those lines across the end of the porch room dividers by and chance ? If so they are generating the extra posts. Hopefully you don't need the room dividers.

Placing a gate on a landing for easier access
Chopsaw replied to Chancebean's topic in Tips & Techniques
You might as well draw the landing as a deck and then you can place a doorway into the railing wall. But then you will likely need to draw a door that looks like a railing to put into the doorway. There are a couple in the library but not likely suitable. -
Chief Architect Save As PDF is vector for all the content that possibly can be vector. One of the only known options that does that as far as I know. As for "flattened" PDF's, I think previous discussions here on the forum concluded that the only way to do that is with Raster formatting. However reading the regulations it seems that they just don't want a layered pdf which is different from a flattened PDF. Possibly what they are really saying is they don't want any illustrations that can't be scanned and analyzed by a machine ?

Not very easy to find though. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00279/opening-legacy-files.html

If it is a .plan file open it with your current version otherwise it will need to be migrated using X8 or earlier. You can also accomplish this using the X8 client viewer.
-
Yes you can snap to some items that have edge lines otherwise you will need to use the cad detail method. Or for the same level of accuracy use the marker method with the cross section lines and reduce the markers to 0" or turn the layer off to print.

Angle Snaps
-
Yes. Create a cad detail from view of your elevation and paste hold position it back into your elevation view or just the selected components that you need. Also if you are utilizing plot line views for your elevations in layout some minor editing of the layout view can be done for situations like that. I have asked for a snap toggle in elevation views so possibly in a future version that is a tool that could be available.
