  2. Harry, Do you mean the off white frieze board above the entrance? Everything else looks ok to me.
  3. Ray, I was having some issues with my Dell recently and found out that you can run a complete hardware diagnostic test by pressing F12 during boot up and choosing diagnostics.
  4. Ok I got it. Room Specification>Deck> Automatically regenerate deck framing. Thanks, Michael and Glenn.
  5. Unless someone has an easy answer for this I would go ahead and use the Material Painter for now and send a report to tech Monday.
  6. This really should be posted in General Q&A on Home Talk but it is interesting that the same issue exists in X8. David, you Jumped me as I was trying to figure out why this does not work even in X8 as you have discribed. The decking seems to be defaulted to be under "Planks, Joists (L):" in the Room Specification DBX under the Structure tab. But will not change the material in a 3D view, so what are we missing? It must be something simple.
  7. Angela, Not quit sure what was going on with all those wacky walls by I applied Glenn's fix and played with some of the other problems until they looked right. So no guarantees but you may be able to use this plan to compare settings or carry on with. Good Luck, Chopsaw Calvori Chopsaw FIX.plan
  8. Post some screen shots of what you have so far and maybe someone will have a few suggestions or pointers for you. It is mostly a matter of getting the contours correct and applying high quality materials to the surfaces.
  9. Hi Vinnie, Not exactly sure of your situation but hope this helps.
  10. First Check that CA is using your proper graphics card and your Driver is up to date. Mine is attached and you may want to attach yours to your post. If you suspect you might be overloading your Video Card you can download and monitor it with a fairly simple app: https://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2794/techpowerup-gpu-z-v1-11-0 For next time this sort of problem should be posted in General Q&A and you can also include your computer specs, Video Card specs, and CA version in your signature in Profile Settings.
  11. Johnny, Thank you for explaining how rooms are "King" in Chief. It is refreshing to hear your perspective comparisons from your experiences in other software. Just to be clear it seems that you are saying that 1/2 walls are different from railing walls but 1/2 walls are just specially predefined railing walls with studs and drywall.
  12. Tim, Sounds like you only missed one step, cad block your cad lines and then select the window and the tool should appear in your toolbar. Search the Help file under Custom Muntins or watch CA training video # 10048
  13. Plan looks much better than last time I looked but there are still quite a few issues. Roof may be able to be fixed as Illustrated but lots of other stuff to check first. I would suggest that you increase the overhang where you have 11' walls around the back half of the building such that you can match the "fascia top Height" of the adjoining roof planes. I think that would clean things up a lot and look better. Go ahead and move the exterior wall of bedroom 2 to align with the bump out from the shower wall and it will look and build much better. You have a footing alignment issue at the right side of the front entrance. Attic wall alignment issue with gable end wall for Bill's Office.Still plenty of minor roof plane joint and alignment issues to comb over. Lots more to do before Engineering. Do You Have a Layout File Made Yet? That is when all the bugs show up and you need to examine each view needed for your CD Set to be sure everything is clean and makes sense to build.
  14. Thanks Perry, I think all that would be needed is a few notes or macro's and cross sections detailing rebar placement with an engineers stamp and signature. Would that be different in a seismic area?
  15. Emma, You could try Adobe Reader which is a free version and see if that gives you any more options. My second option shows up in the Print View options as "Microsoft print to PDF" which also worked when tested.
  16. Not quite sure what you are all seeing but with about 10 extra minutes I added the other wall and the Roof. Not quite perfect and not engineered but proof of concept? The hole in the polyline solid roof is an advanced spline polyline set to a 1o segment angle.
  17. Alan, Where did you see the Hyperbolic Paraboloid? And were you eating Pringles at the time? All I see is some Polyline Solids with holes and arches in them with another polyline solid sitting on top with an oddly shaped hole. I can only see straight lines where the walls join the roof.
  18. Chad, Not yet a Raytrace expert but go back to your other plan that is good and copy the Define Material Properties that worked for you before. Maybe Material Class: Polished or Mirror will get you away from the black. Good Luck.
  19. I don't see anything there that could not be done in Chief. And I bet Rich could do a better ray trace than that.
  20. How may sheets do you have in your set? Just keep clicking and if you use the Project Browser it is easier to keep track of your pages. It might be nice to click and drag if you have 60 or so pages but I don't think there is a way to do that yet.
  21. Yes I noticed that David, I just wondered if the New Chief Architect Save As PDF we use in X8 would be backwards compatible with X3 as an add on. It seems to work fine for that sort of thing for me. Bunkie .pdf
  22. Emma, I have not seen that issue before. What file format are your 2 images and have you tried any other PDF generators? I assume you do not have the Chief Architect Save As PDF. I wonder if it could be added to X3.
  23. I started that way just to keep it all organized but as I progressed through the problems that arose that last attached Text Grouping that I posted is actually 15 seperate items of cad and cad blocked text and Rich Text. But would it not be great to have something like that -the cad all in one simple block. Sorry I forgot about the 9 other cad touch ups for the extra bold shadow text.
  24. I thought you may have jumped ship on me Glenn but as you can see my original post was a simplified example for illustration purposes. And what I am trying to do is exactly what Rich Text was designed to do but simple editing can turn into a nightmare even when the original input is not too complicated. I will talk to tech about this even though they have not been very impressed with my submissions as of late.
