  1. You can round off the dimensions if you like but it would be better to give the drawings to a builder with a sharp pencil if it is to be built correctly. Maybe you don't need to include all the dimensions.
  2. Not sure about the angle lines but you may have your snap units set too large and you just cant get anywhere close. So try setting your snap units temporarily to 1/16 or some small amount and get the railing close then move it in with your arrow keys. You might also set your siding-4 main layer to be the studs. Or try the point to point tool if you are aligning with main layer. Works fine in X8.
  3. Thanks Scott, ( and that other unnamed person ) I think it must be time to hit the suggestion forum with this however until Chief makes this a little easier there is a trick to create a new current cad layer which the auto details will be placed onto and then you have some control by going to the all off set and turning on your custom layer to edit or delete.
  4. Chief is working on making this easier but here is a current discussion on a lot of the aspects you seem to be struggling with. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/10651-the-jpcgraeme-floor-level-workshop-wednesday-aug24-at-400-pm-pst/?p=93348 Please watch video on post #22
  5. Is this really a one way street for auto detail or is there a way to refresh, updated or delete and redetail? I did put it all on a separate cad layer but this seems to be an unreasonable amount of work. What am I missing?
  6. I Don't see any steps in your thumbnail. If you are going to allow wheelchair access you may want to check out this thread:https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/9864-sloped-floor/
  7. Rod, I would be quite interested in unscaled cad blocked text rotation issues because tech is for sure not aware of this. If you could post a sample plan that would be great or just send it in to tech and reference my ticket #62820 Lets get this fixed!!
  8. I already talked to tech and after I sent it in figured out that this only happens when the text in the cad block has been scaled and you no longer have a 1:1 factor ratio. They have not provided a fix yet but I figured out a temporary workaround to create a .png capture and re import back into Chief and then rotate but what a pain. Text Rotation Test.plan
  9. I would have to confirm but I think plans can be exported to Chief Architect Premier but not transferred back. There are a few people on this forum that are familiar with both versions. Should not be an issue to do a little editing and finish the plans.
  10. Did a quick test for you and 24 sides at 15o and 4' works fine. If you would like a few pointers just let me know.
  11. Buzzsaw, You have it all figured out but you need to use CA logic. +23o is ccw.
  12. I will be talking to tech support today but if you would like me to post the plan file so you can take a look just let me know.
  13. With rich text you can set a default style colour, size, font, etc. Or just copy paste and then open and edit.
  14. I thought I remembered reading about this on the forum as an X7 issue but it still seems to be an issue in the current version of X8. I will report this to tech next week but is there any way to get around this for now? I can over rotate to compensate but there is also a distortion issue. Ok to rotate 180o but squished at 90o and distorted any where in between.
  15. Yes this can be done in Chief but you will find it quite challenging simply because of the number of surfaces in this particular file. What component would you like to isolate? Have to run now here is some reading. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/8375-editing-3d-warehouse-objects/ https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/9483-how-to-explode-or-ungroup-imported-skp-models/
  16. Ryan, Thank you for that clarification. In my conversation with AMD tech support they explained that their Workstation cards are optimized for vector display and although they were not familiar with Chief Architect did recommend the Fire Pro series for 3D architectural rendering. I took the time to explain to them that I felt that Chief's most demanding use of the GPU was not for vector display. They explained that their gaming cards excel with display of material application to polygon surfaces for Virtual Reality gaming. I explained that this is what Chief Architect is all about. It might be good for you to have a chat with them, maybe get some free products for testing.
  17. Thank you Mark, This is exactly what I was looking for and should help me figure things out. https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/
  18. This is quite interesting as I had an issue last week that tech support suggested had something to do with my video card. I had a conversation with AMD tech support and they recommended their Fire Pro line but when I checked the CA recommendations it clearly states "Gaming Card" : https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/sysreq.html I then questioned tech support about this in respect to my current support inquiry and they ignored my question. When my system gets choked up I open Task Manager and usually find that CPU and Memory are operating at less than 25% capacity. Does anyone know of a way to monitor GPU in real time? This would answer a lot of questions for me and I suspect that Whistler is facing the same issues that I am with just a slightly older setup. Chopsaw
  19. This is for Sherry just in case you missed something while you were off-line and Alan and Antoine and anyone else that missed the meeting or would like to see it again. This video is in full 1080p HD courtesy of YouTube's unlimited storage. Thanks again for hosting Scott. Thanks also to Scott Harris for participating. P.S. There is one audio track missing from the video but it is only mine and I did not have much input. I think I can fix this for the next video. Edited 2016 10 22
  20. Open both plans and CTRL + C on plan A then CTRL + ALT + V on plan B providing that you have used the same origin on both plans as I would have started with the house plan and drawn the site plan around that. And copy what ever layers you need, likely just the Plan footprint should be all that is necessary.
  21. Yes Rob, The cable railing must be used in place of the Panel. I had the same problem at first and will check when I get back to my computer.
  22. Hopefully Shane's suggestion will fix the roof for you, and the deck framing is what you wanted to replace with concrete? Not to sure why the posts and beams were affected. Could you post some screen shots or maybe the plan file?
  23. Johnny, Thanks for testing the situation for me, those are the results that I would expect to get but for some reason am not. Glenn, Sorry, I may not have been clear enough before but I was able to convert to Advanced Splines from Normal Splines and did not notice any appreciable improvement. Thanks Guys.
  24. Glenn, I would like to use advanced splines but it presents the same problems. It was a plain polyline before I converted it and it was fine at that point but I need the curves for the shoreline or it won't look right. Don't really want to have print it and finish it by hand. I just cant believe one simple cad item could bring my system to it's knees. If I was maxing out my video card would it not also affect other programs running at the same time. My mouse moves in leaps and bounds but only in Chief.
