  1. Check your Archive folder and see if there is a relatively recent backup file. Documents > Chief Architect...... .... Data > Archives.
  2. Nice observation Mick. You might just have to give Doug a point for that.
  3. Alan, Not really sure how you are using the medallions but anything you can google can be converted to an image and used in chief. Medallion Image.calibz
  4. You both beat me while I was making a video. But I believe this is your technique Glenn.
  5. Thank You Michael, that seems to work.
  6. There are any number of ways to accomplish the look. Soffit tool which can substitute for a beam in many cases. Polyline Solid, Wall Material Region. Post your plan and someone will find a solution for you.
  7. Yes I believe that is the case Alan, which is part of the reason I am still putting my text in layout even though I am setup to add it in plan now. Love to hear if that is not the case and I have missed a setting because it sure makes it difficult to edit that way.
  8. Yes I think it has been a cathedral ceiling situation with me every time, but in theory it could still work with an absolute elevation setting regardless of the floor level.
  9. See what tech has to say for sure but I think I had a situation like that and ended up putting the upper level windows in the attic wall and then adjusting their elevation so they appeared to be in the correct position.
  10. Sounds like you are on the correct path. The only thing I might suggest is custom muntins for the lead rather than p-solids. Here is an old thread with a few basic examples.
  11. Not that Adobe is the gold standard but their corner resize handles work exactly like X9 and then their crop tool works like the alternate edit tool in X10 where you can grab a corner and have free motion. However Crop and Resize are two completely different functions and should be kept that way.
  12. Select "Stretch to Fit" in the Material DBX texture tab > Scale. Also helpful if your frame is the same aspect ratio.
  13. Thanks Michael, I should make more use of hot keys and am starting to but will never leave something toggled on that sticks to my cross hairs any longer than absolutely necessary. I will talk to my cousin and see what the standards are in graphic design software but to me it just makes sense to do it that way when you want to be accurate, otherwise you are just in a push pull scenario like the one you were trying to avoid with your recent locking dimension line suggestion. I think I could mask a layout box almost as fast as what I have to do now for a regular process of resizing, which is the part that hurts so much.
  14. Scott, if you can't find the old one it would be great if you could make an updated one in X10 when you have time. I have been working on a layout template since Joe mentioned it in a thread a while back but still have some work to do figuring out what to do with layers that do no have defaults.
  15. Yup that is what I thought. Seems like if you all knew what you were missing you would also be quite upset like me. Workaround is as follows : ( Which is from you originally Michael ) 1. Place Temporary point in opposite corner from where you would like to resize. 3 clicks. 2. Clear Temporary point marker tool ( space bar ) 1 more click. 3. Select Rotate / Resize About Current Point tool. 1 more click. 4. Select Image. 1 more click. 5. Hold down X key or right click on corner edit handle to resize. 1 more click. 6. Now clear the Rotate / Resize About Current Point tool and temporary point. 3 more clicks. So on closer analysis it seems to be 10 clicks. As I was testing and typing it seems that you remembered what I was talking about but Chief obviously is not aware of what they have done. Thanks for the workaround suggestions, but I think this needs to be fixed as this is the fastest most accurate way of layout for me.
  16. It is really sad to loose such a critical functionality that was just one click. I used this all the time. Why could the new function not have been the alternate ? In X9 we had both mouse buttons doing the same thing and resizing from the corner edit handle while keeping the correct proportions and ratio. I used this for all of my Images and 3D illustrations. Can anyone do it the old way in less than 9 moves ? This seems totally unacceptable to me. If one wants to mess up the proportionality why not just grab the edge edit handle.
  17. I think this was fixed for the final release of X10 but still can't figure out how to make it work the way it did in X9 without a major workaround. 2.25 Layout • Unscaled layout views can now be resized from the corner using the Alternate Edit Behavior.
  18. Glenn it sounds like he has the symbol but the textures are missing. So the texture files or a replacement symbol would fix the issue.
  19. Very Nice work Larry. Great Build.
  20. Johnny, I was trying to resist saying everything is working fine like it does in California, but I don't think I have ever had a serious tool bar issue. However I did have an incident in X9 where I completely lost all my layersets possibly similar to the corruption you just posted. Please be sure to send that in so it does not happen to others.
  21. Yes that is about the only option that I am aware of at this point, but the challenge is copying and closing one layout then opening the new and pasting or forcing two instances of Chief to be open at the same time. Make sure not to select the sheet when copying.
  22. Is your new Layout template a revised page 0 or a complete multi page template ? You can assign your new template to be the default template but updating an old layout file is a whole different thing.
  23. The only thing that should max out your CPU in chief is raytracing. Likely the issue is your laptop GPU. You may want to check your render settings.
  24. File is empty. Be sure file is closed when you zip and upload. Also if you have windows 10 give the Microsoft Snipping Tool a try.
