  1. 2 20.1.1.1 Update Notes 2.2 Ray Tracing • Fixed a problem that could cause black squares to appear in ray trace images in some cases. Seems like that was fixed. Are you using update 2 20.1.1.1 ? If so it likely needs to be sent in to tech support again.
  2. Yes, both are factors. Make your active window as large as possible for the best resolution.
  3. Just to be clear Mark, I was not stating system requirements. Rather System Recommendations. As CA does not clearly state the difference in expected performance..   4. You may be pushing the limits of your graphics card now that CA recommends a dedicated 4-8 GB card. However this should still be sent in. There may be some other settings you can use to keep using your current setup. If you would like to run the file in X9 there should be a usable copy in your X10 Archives folder.
  5. One setting that may help you out a bit is in Foundation Defaults : "Hang 1st Floor Platform Inside Foundation Walls" but you will likely still have some editing to do after that. Also when posting detailed questions it really helps to include some screen shots and in situations like this the .plan file can be quite helpful as well.
  6. B, It is just a matter of figuring out what level the trailer frame is at and setting that to be at the level of your floor framing by using the trailer symbol DBX or Transform and Replicate Dialogue. You could even select it in 3D or elevation view and just eyeball it and place it in the correct position.
  7. You could adjust the Room elevation to sit on top of the trailer but it would likely be easier to keep the subfloor at the default 00 and move the trailer and terrain down to accommodate.
  8. You may be dealing with more than one issue there but you could likely fix it by making your invisible wall style one single framing layer only.
  9. Backgrounds can now be setup for each camera in the camera DBX or Camera Defaults. Sorry no known way to go back unless you are speaking of an X9 file that was brought forward and then there will be a usable copy in your archive folder. Some formats will transfer back depending on what you are wanting to achieve like a .DWG file for example but not a .plan file.

Pretty Small Update Mick. 2 20.1.1.1 Update Notes 2.1 3D Rendering • Fixed a problem that prevented material textures from displaying correctly on some Mac systems with Intel graphics chipsets. 2.2 Ray Tracing • Fixed a problem that could cause black squares to appear in ray trace images in some cases. Lots more stuff that also needs fixing. Don't get confused with the notes that are included from the previous update that was much larger.
  12. Try setting the gable end walls to balloon frame. Not sure why but it seems to work.
  13. The other thing you might try is a wall material region set to transparent and cut away to main ( concrete ) layer for demonstration purposes and then when you get X10 there is another new tool that works with symbols and can give even more flexibility for layering in cutaways.

Thanks Kelly, I was just thinking the same thing as drawing the walls in order does seem to have and effect on planking point of origin when the planking is running horizontally or at 0° but all sense of control seems to be lost when it comes to a deck with the planking running vertically or at 90° and regardless of what I do it seems to always orient from the left side which is not working for the current build. Possibly if one could adjust the angle like the horizontal planking with alternate inputs of 0° and 180° however there seems be be no way to flip the vertical planking that is at 90° with an input of -90° or 270°. If anyone has any ideas on this if I am missing something they would be much appreciated. Please add your +1 or comments for Chief here :
  16. This is what I am trying to help the carpenter avoid having to do. And on this particular job is not an option unfortunately. In combination with what Glenn suggested by re numbering my walls by drawing over top of them, then changing the plank direction and changing it back again it seems to be working. Just a little tricky with such a large project and 19 deck walls, actually a lot like trying to resequence automatic truss labels. The pull your hair out kind of fun.

  18. Joe, With your method is there a way of matching what the plan view camera call out displays for use in the view call out for the layout using macro's ? So that the camera name or number and the layout page number is all automatic. I assume the OP and I are facing the same issue placing the call out in layout but I assume you are placing the call out in plan and sending to layout. Is that correct ?
  19. Thanks for the suggestion Jerry but it is not such a minor workaround this time. I had it all laid out with a material pattern and adjusted the origin until I found out that material patterns only have an accuracy of 1/16" and tech suggested that I frame it with a deck which was more accurate so I did that only to find out that the origin could not be adjusted. Yes it could be done with manual framing and decking but then you completely loose all the benefits of the automatic rebuild. That is a lot of boards to tweak on a 2600 sq ft platform and a lot of angles that are not 90o Fairly simple programming tweak for Chief to make it happen and you might be surprised how much you use it on a big detailed project.
  20. Yes that seems to be the situation Glenn and the Framing reference marker seems to have no effect. Unfortunately I have plenty of critical deck space beyond my front ( bottom ) left corner. It sure would be good to be able to choose when you are in a critical situation. There always seems to be a point when the auto tools break down and one has to choose if they want to start all over and do a cad layout. Bummer.....
  21. Hmm... Maybe if you could set it to use the Layer line weight. Oops another thing that does not work.
  22. No I don't believe so but it sure would be great if it did and can't understand why it does not. I do use the %layout.label% macro in the lower line to help keep things more consistent and it will read the page information where it is placed but is not really a direct link but has no way of fouling up that I am aware of.
  23. Does anyone know how the point of origin is controlled for Deck room planking ? It appears to have something to do with the front left corner but really ? My deck is not square. There must be a setting that I am missing somewhere. This usually is not so critical but this time it is. I don't want a 3/4" piece on a 1 1/2" overhang Chief.
  24. Not quite sure I understand either but it seems like you could just treat the components like you would cabinets and combine and edit them as you like. You could also combine them and make a new symbol but that would make editing more complex depending on what type of things you need to edit. Again we would need more specifics but you can convert your extruded slatwall to a solid and then explode the solid and you will be able to edit all the faces. Just not sure what you need to edit.
  25. If you want to just draw it and forget it, then draw the ICF core as a polyline solid and place it on a unique layer that is only on in your 3D Framing View. I think that is the best possibility for now.
