  1. Open from Library, place in plan, update details, re-save to Library. What did you try ?
  2. It might not hurt to send that one in Steve to see what CA thinks. It is good to get those little artifact issues cleaned up if possible.
  3. How about a free one ? https://cadsofttools.com/pdf-to-dwg-online Try it out and buy a copy if you have anything private you need to convert. Just a caution though, I am working with it and there seems to be a discrepancy with precision angles but I am not sure if it is the pdf or dwg file that has the issue.
  4. Appreciate the useful tip. However you are not quite correct as we have lost the constraint that keeps the layout box proportional from X9 without the lengthy procedure I described above.
  5. Delete the Molding from the Room DBX and create a Manual Room Molding Polyline which can be edited.
  6. If those walls are a little closer together you can set the interior one to be "Furred" and then in the window DBX Under the Casing tab you can set the Double Wall Options.
  7. Sorry I had to check my notes on this one but you can get a Pass-Through to show on the schedule or block it from showing by going to the Schedule DBX under the general tab and select "Object to Include" or Not Include listing. Ray it seems the walls need to be closer for the furred option to work.
  8. If I am not mistaken it is usually one or the other or none at all. Both is not an option unless you have some sort of a special window ? It appears that you have two individual windows there in you screen shot, or at least a Pass-Through and a window of which the PT will not appear on the window schedule as it is not technically a window. Somehow I thought that a Pass-Through could previously be put on a schedule but I could be wrong. You can suppress the label of the Pass-Through if that satisfies you situation for now.
  9. Yes thank you Dermot for providing that comprehensive answer. I was really just trying to help bernie out with his old computer. However Dermot's answer should help all the rest of us know what to put on our Christmas wish list to run X11 with.
  10. You can do that several ways. Depending on the level of accuracy you can use the floor material or floor material regions or a combination of the two or even multiple floor material regions. Psolids also work. It is completely up to you and how you need to display it in your presentation or drawing set.
  11. Go to Preferences> General> Folders> All Program Paths: on your old laptop. And show that to your tech expert. For X10 to run the way you had it setup a bunch of those files need to be transferred to the new laptop. I suspect you are missing your Program Data and User Setting as well as Preferences, maybe more. If as it sounds you have already run X10 on the new laptop without transferring those files then you will need to delete the auto generated files and replace them with the original ones. If that seems too complicated tech support can help you out with the details. This should help : https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00001/migrating-chief-architect-to-a-new-computer.html
  12. You can draw almost anything with the software but you are responsible for the engineering and meeting local codes. You can use a post with footing and delete the post if you like.
  13. I am not absolutely sure without looking it up but I think it was Dermot who commented on a thread where this topic was being discussed last year.
  14. I thought we were getting it with X10. There was a pre-release teaser about being able to select items from schedules that I figured was a byproduct of the programming required to make it all happen.
  15. Yes Please and no checkbox required for me. This would definitely take the software to the next level. Please transfer this to Suggestions Forum.
  16. Has that changed recently Graham ? My experience with all aspects of Chief with the exception of raytracing has been similar to what Kevin posted just recently. I thought that more cores were only suggested if they were not at the expense of processor clock speed. If you push hard enough to put Chief into a state of "not responding" task manager will indicate that only one core is maxed out. Oh hey I just noticed this is in Sales Related Questions so maybe we will get an "Official" answer.
  17. Looks like you "Solved" your own problem and were good enough to come back and turn it into a tip. Nice Work.
  18. Will any of these work ? https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search/?q=rvs
  19. I don't understand the reason why the bearing line is snapping to the center of the beam and that should possibly be looked at. However it should not matter if the beam is flush with the top of the joists. For me it works at either edge or the center and only requires a single bearing line. On my initial test the beam was not flush. Post the plan or a simplified version of it that is behaving the same way. Maybe we can figure this out.
  20. No they are still independent after selecting together and converting to solid. It just changes their properties. They can be combined or subtracted after. Yes it is a lot to learn so pace yourself. Watch as many video's as you can take in and practice what you learn.
  21. Fast forward to 9:50 and Scott gives the answer there. Watch carefully.
  22. Don't worry you can't do that in Premier either. It only works with solids.

    Scale PDF

Yes exactly. I think this is what you are looking for in terms of accuracy with a floor plan or survey. P.S. Use a cad line set to a decimal number style to measure with. That tape measure thing is useless until they get it fixed.

    Scale PDF

Transform and replicate keeps the aspect ratio the same. Just scale a known distance. The longer it is the more accurate it is likely to turn out as long as it is an accurate number like on a survey, and calculate the scale factor. Or convert your PDF to .dwg so you don't have to mess with an embedded pdf. Still needs to be scaled but a little easier with snaps.
