Not quite sure how you got to there Newel but it appears your settings are ok. Try "Edit All Roof Planes" > Structure > "Build Roof Framing." Possibly you changed some settings after the roof was framed and while "Automatically Build Roof Framing" was turned off. For some reason "Build Framing for Selected Object(s)" does not seem to work in your plan file if someone else can explain that.

That will likely work better but still does not solve the problem the OP is describing.

If you want to synchronize with Lumion you will need to draw in Sketchup. If you just need to render in Lumion go ahead and draw in Chief. The only reason Lumion has not synchronized with chief is that it is really not necessary since chief has likely the best synchronization on the market. They do want to do it but I am pretty sure chief is last on the list for that reason. Other programs do not sync well and Lumion's synchronization is a huge benefit to those software programs but not so much for chief.

What were you hoping to do in Sketchup ?

Glenn, I believe the final goal was to have hatching or fill in one layer set and then no hatching or fill in another. Independent polylines allows for layers to be completely turned off. Possibly my idea of white hatch lines or white solid fill could work in conjunction with Draw order to not mask underlying details ?
-
The other option would be to to snap a simple polyline to each object and set your fill or hatch pattern with that and then you have complete control.
-
Assuming that you are printing on white paper. Change your line color or fill color to white.
-
Hatch Line Color and Solid Fill Color can be changed in ALDO by clicking the color swatch listed with the layer info or if you display Layer Properties below the ALDO layer listings you can do it there. Thanks for the backup during my break Eric
-
Are you changing the color in ALDO or the object DBX ?
-
My apologies for not having a solution for you as I can't reproduce the issue on my system. Possibly try a new plan or template.
-
The reason you won't find one like that in your library is that it won't resize gracefully. Would be glad to custom build you one for a small fee if you like. Just send me a PM with your specific dimensions.
-
What version of Chief are you running ? You can include that and any critical hardware specifications and operating system info in your signature so it is always visible when asking questions making it easier for others to help.
-
It could be one of two things. In the objects DBX under the Line Style tab you will need to have "Color By Layer" selected and then when you adjust the color in the ALDO for the applicable layer or layers, of your Impermeable Surfaces Layerset make sure "Modify All Layer Sets" is not selected.
-
Set your default to 4.5" and then edit to 3 ply manually.
-
If you want something that will render realistically you will need to build symbols of the correct geometry for each step and then arrange them with a Polyline Distribution Path. Looks like you would need six of them for this job all carefully arranged and then some solids or slabs to finish off the top step as Tommy suggested.
-
Mike, what version are you running now ? There were a few improvements with DWG import in X11 but they still don't have it quite right. Hatching will need to be reassigned. Try exploding leaders before import to preserve them. As Joe says, make it your goal to eventually move your cad work to Chief. Unfortunately imported cad work seems slow in chief but still better than PDF imports.
-
Maybe it is a new feature. People have asked about it. You may be on to something Joe. How about a screen shot or sample PDF.

Main floor deck framing will show up on Level 0 the same as 1st floor sub floor framing will show up on top of your foundation. If you need to break from common standards you can set up a reference layer to show on another level.

A little more background information would possibly be helpful as chief does not make this easy. In a 3D view you could select the wall and use the "Calculate Materials from Selected" tool to find the height value, or just use the Z readout from your cursor position if it is just a quick estimate. Or if you have a defined room you can take a look in the room DBX. It would be nice to see it in the wall DBX but it is not there. Ideally you would open an elevation view and select the wall to see the temporary dimension and use that to make an adjustment if necessary.
-
It would be an interesting experiment but not likely to produce the results you are expecting. Others have tried and experienced significant accuracy issues due to the google data. You could import it as a symbol and make sure it is to proper scale and then set up a grid and do a sectional analysis and use the elevation data to create a chief terrain or just place elevation points in a grid pattern over the symbol and tweak them until you get an acceptable match. It will really depend on the specific site and your expectations of what the data will be used for. Your site looks to be quite large and relatively flat so it might be possible to make something work. Possibly the type of terrain that google would not have too much of a problem with but no guarantees. I have had some success turning high resolution areal photos into a material and applying to very moderate terrain but this is not really something that chief excels at. You may actually be better off exporting your model back into sketchup. Keep us posted of your progress.

Michael, Are you using the custom macro for the window label ? Also I believe window OIP's were introduced in X9 if CJ's signature is up to date.
-
You may need to abandon the Schedule Number system all together and use another editable column that is accessible through the window Components List. Unfortunately this would also mean abandoning automatic call outs I think.
-
If you pony wall is defined as a railing it will do that.

I think it was Perry who said if you have more than one template page, they should not use pages 1,2,3, etc. They should use a page that IS AFTER your last plan page. I think I could explain why if I had to , but just take my word for it. So, the first template page should use page zero, and if you have any more templates, they should use a page AFTER your last. page sheet..,... put them on page 201 just to be safe. Any comments? I think the issue comes if you use a macro to number your pages sequentially, the templates will mess with the order of things unless they are last. What Chief needs to do is allow lettered pages to be templates and numbered pages to have content. In theory this would replace page 0 with template A and you could then have as many as 26 other templates where ever you like. Or maybe 2 or 3 would be adequate for the average person. i.e. Templates A, B, C.

Lew You have Pages 0, 1, and 2 as templates. Pages 27, and 28 reference the template of page 2 It seems this it something you have done purposely so just copy and paste the red border to pages 1 and 2 and you should be good.
