  1. You can import .dae files into Google Earth Pro but not sure how much further that can go. May be similar to SketchUp.
  2. You should check with the sales department tomorrow to get things set up properly. As Eric says it should allow you to enter a valid key to the trial version for now.
  3. Go to ChiefArchitect.com and check your account for a Digital locker. That is where the downloads are kept.
  4. Did they set you up with an account and Digital Locker or company digital locker ?
  5. Yes I also did that while exploring the issue using the "Make Arc Tangent" tool.
  6. That is interesting as maybe the wall below does the fill in under those circumstances. Just took another look and it is the "Rail to Post " setting that is used for the curved section and the adjoining short section over to the wall should likely be " Post to Rail" like the longer section. That seems to suit the newels best. Yes if you were doing multiple windows or plans it would be worthwhile to make a sill symbol and apply it through the window/passthrough DBX. It may need some hidden extensions if you are using casing at the same time as discussed in the thread Eric and I worked out the details for the other question that is in the link.
  7. Take a look and see what you think. Moved a drywall layer of the railing over to the exterior and fiddled with the intersection of the wall using the wall layer intersections tool. Not sure why there is a gap in the rail between the curved and straight sections but ran out of time. Just made a p-solid pass through sill cap for you as it looks like there is only one opening. You can edit the material and profile as you like. Nice looking plan or at least what was left of it. Hope that helps. Example Chopped.plan
  8. Pass through has the same options for treatments as windows do. You just need to create the symbol which is easy in X11 now.
  9. This should work for your situation but you really only need one drywall layer if your wall is oriented correctly. If that fails at least post a test plan that exhibits the same problem. We are all just trying to help. I believe the following is default and I have a custom one without drywall for special situations.
  10. Do you have a drywall layer in your railing wall definition ? You need an exterior layer of something to fill that in. Leave it like it is if you are supporting the railing with an independent decorative structural beam.
  11. No Sorry they did not fix that bug yet. If you edit a lookout or blocking with Auto Rebuild Roofs turned on and then hit undo you loose the orientation of every other piece of blocking or lookout in the entire roof. Only way to fix it is cut/paste hold position.
  12. Also tried that as it was the solution with Auto Rebuild Roofs turned on but does not seem to work in this situation. Not sure if maybe they fixed that other bug as I can't seem to recall or reproduce the condition where all the lookouts and blocking loose their orientation.
  13. Yes in the Build Roof DBX.... Still get rotation to vertical. Also tried turning off Automatic Height first and it did not help.
  14. Is it possible to apply a Rafter Tail profile to a Lookout without it auto rotating to vertical ? If chief thinks that is what I want why would I not just draw a rafter and profile that ? I want a profiled lookout and can't seem to find a way to do it without going to extremes. Hope I missed a simple setting or there is a simple workaround without having to use solids or symbols.
  15. Send to Layout as "Current Screen" NOT "Current Screen As Image" and you should not have any issues with resolution.
  16. Send to Layout as "Current Screen" NOT "Current Screen As Image" and you should not have any issues with resolution.
  17. This really should be posted in General Q&A but I am curious how you are sending to layout and what version of the software you are using ?
  18. If you have nothing customized reinstalling might be a logical solution. If it is your unit conversions they are in preferences and will not be packaged with a posted plan although it would eliminate that as a potential factor. It appears to be that your posted room is 10m rather than 10 ft which explains the 1137 sq ft. Have you or anyone else tinkered with the unit conversions since the program was installed ? You could check the unit conversion setup in X8 and it should be the same in X10.
  19. It appears your unit conversions have been tampered with or corrupted. Is this the first time you have dimensioned something ?
  20. Any word back yet ? Looks like you are closing with the text box selected. Might have something to do with macro execution. Is it reproducible with or without the text box selected ?
  21. There was a series of versions of chief before the X series but not sure it went to 11 so just to be clear include the X when referring to the X series of programs please.
  22. Not sure I have had to do it but if you were working on a large terrain and rebuilds were slowing your system while doing field data entries where 3D feedback was not necessary you could turn it off so you could do several entries before doing a manual update which could even be assigned to a hotkey for efficiency
  23. Open your Terrain Perimeter DBX ( Dialogue Box ) and under the General Tab select "Auto Rebuild Terrain" or just go to Terrain Specification drop down toolbar - "Build Terrain" every time you make an adjustment to the terrain and cursor comes back on. It is just a reminder that you have made changes that have not been updated.
  24. What types of changes are you making ?
  25. Purple is the color that shows up when Chief can't follow the file path for the material texture. It may be on a drive or file location that the program is having difficulty with. Take a read through some of the previous postings and links on "Purple Raytraces" and see if anything applies to you. It may also be a software bug so no harm is contacting tech support about it if does not seem like it was something you did wrong.
