There does seem to be a backup when updating versions but maybe it should be with every update ?
-
You can always delete or rename your .ini file and then restart and it will bring up the update options again but that only gives you your toolbars from the previous version ( X10 in this case ). Always a smart idea to back things up but a KB article would definitely be helpful unless there is one already ? I suppose what you are asking for is an auto toolbar archive.
-
Looks like it may have been the same problem @Renerabbitt had with the previous update. Might be worth sending it in as that should not happen and can be quite devastating for a customized setup that is not backed up.

Doors don't really have a 2D cad block. Several things you could try... Create a special "Garage Doors" layer and turn it off in plan view and insert your own label and cad block. However this creates several problems like not being able to select or edit the door in that view. Turn off "Garage Doors" layer in plan view and insert your own symbol of a different type that has a 2D cad block associated with it. Same issues as above plus having to get a good placement and adjust accordingly. Maybe the simplest thing would be to create a cad block that would mask chief's outline and provide the cad representation you need all at the same time. Here is another similar situation that my give you a few ideas.

If you find those types of things are reproducible please send them in to tech support.

Try turning on "Floor Surfaces" in your Camera View Layer Set.

Q: (3D Camera) Can the backdrop be locked to window views?
Chopsaw replied to para-CAD's topic in General Q & A
Mark, I have uses painted p-solids to create the same effect. Do billboards block sunlight and create a shadow ? -
You will need to put the symbol of the pull into your user library so that you can edit the "Y" origin offset something like this in your situation.
-
Looks Good Eric. Did you note any issues other than the usual symbol gymnastics? Other than Mike's frameless windows I think this should work for now to satisfy his situation.
-
That looks good Eric. Just need to make the "ears" proportionally larger as the exterior trim size increases. Where did yours fail ?
-
I would highly doubt that a builder that does drywall returns would also use a 10" exterior casing. However it is still not impossible as you just need a larger "extra bit" so that the Exterior Millwork Extend: setting will still be useful despite it's -1" limitation.
-
Seems to work fine for me with a stretch plane.
-
Convert your p-solid to a milwork symbol and add it to the window using the Treatments - "Exterior Milwork Below Casing" option. If it is too complicated post your test plan with the window and p-solid and I will fix it and send it back for you to see.
-
Mike did you give my method a try. You can make it your default window if you like. Do you need more info or a sample plan ? The only issue I am having reproducing your situation is the sill extension and wrap but if it is the same all the time I think I can work it out. Just need to know the dimensions of the small but no more than 1 1/2" trim pieces.

Apparently @Kbird1 has it figured out but still not sure how he does it.
-
Glenn, I am currently working on an X10 plan file and could not figure out what you were describing as X10 reports flat measure. This is a new feature in X11 !
-
You can get what you need by setting an Orthographic Camera to be perpendicular to the roof pitch and then create a cad detail so you have snap points. It requires the same calculations as Mark's method but will give a complete picture.

Download the X8 Desktop ( Client ) View and see if it will open them and if so resave and you should be good. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00279/opening-legacy-files.html https://accounts.chiefarchitect.com/digital-locker/download?wt=eyJ0eXAiOiJKV1QiLCJhbGciOiJIUzUxMiJ9.eyJwcm9kdWN0cyI6W3sibmFtZSI6IkNoaWVmIEFyY2hpdGVjdCBWaWV3ZXIgWDgiLCJwbGF0Zm9ybSI6IiJ9XX0.JzNyO4av-LzgqHhXbbjKd1COG6RecIykvQJ4SXHWjFxcn5NjAftBV2HNkeSUp3tl843CBDTyaKTF6nthG9SCPA&__utma=67784003.972976568.1560923346.1565308559.1565912938.18&__utmb=67784003.1.10.1565912938&__utmc=67784003&__utmx=-&__utmz=67784003.1565912938.18.18.utmcsr=chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com|utmccn=(referral)|utmcmd=referral|utmcct=/topic/20880-pl1-files/&__utmv=-&__utmk=230225243&endpoint=get-product

This is really something chief should have, but you can set up your own toolbar for walls. It would work in a similar way as a color pallet toolbar. Not sure what you mean about waiting to create the Schedule ? You don't even need walls to get the schedule started and it could even be part of your default plan. As you draw and add walls it will add them to the schedule.
-
You could use the Delete Surfaces tool in Chief but it could get tedious with the example you posted. Crank up the smoothing angle if you give it a try.
-
I don't understand, you can have as many different interior walls as you like. You can have a whole library of walls.
-
You could also use the provided Description Field and put your own macro or Description there rather than %automatic_description%. X10 does not have Wall Schedules.
-
Use a Custom Object Information Field for your long description and it can be saved as your default wall. Also would be great if you could update your signature.

In Preferences > Colors you can change your background color. However you will need to rearrange your Layersets so that you have colors that work with a black background as there are a lot of default layers that have black line colors in Chief. X11 also has theme settings to adjust the toolbar and interface colors.
