you try the Weyerhaeuser site, may have to crop out of one of the shots they have? If I was going to Rona tomorrow, I'd snap you a couple pics, they have a display with all the different engineered offerings.

Check this thread out Larry. It may help you out.

If it isn't the live view problem, it may be your ridge cap that you are using. Could still be default shingle one.
-
Your two railing walls that don't show as railings. Centre them on the railing wall that does show properly.
-
Take the two walls and centre them on the one that already shows and they will show up as railings.

Plate is better , in that it gives you more structural stability for nailing the rafter to and less deflection if rafter isn't over framing below. The 5/8" or 3/4" sub-floor doesn't. The rafters will not line up over existing framing below in all cases so the plate gives you that extra piece of mind.

If you set your joist direction instead of automatic it will generate the joist direction whichever way you want. all in the dbx for the room if you made it a deck room.

Should also note you may want to use custom counter top to get overhang you want.
-
You can use a railing wall and set your height or you can draw a regular wall and pull the top down in section/elevation view to your desired height.
-
What wall type did you use to create glass wall? I use just a pony wall with interior 4 with tile layers and glass shower 1/2" on top. I have no issues like that when I pull wall tops down to where I want them.

Yeah downloaded all the dwg files and whipped them up in my spare time. I use a lot of Metrie mouldings for my jobs so figured why not.
-
If anyone is interested, the attached is the Metrie brand mouldings. These are for the Eastern Canadian market but most are the same in other markets as well. They are done in X8. METRIE MOULDINGS.calibz

Northriver, could you post a pic of the jog as you have it drawn? Curious to see how it works there.

Use a wall material region set thin with paint colour, not cutting surface for the upper portion. apply the region in section view or elevation view.

Chief Architect 3D Viewer - for Mobile Devices
justmejerry replied to OkcDesigner's topic in General Q & A
Bobeee, ".plan" files open with Chief Architect not viewer. As far as I know viewer opens "3D model" files through a link. -
have you downloaded the 3D viewer app? https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/3d-viewer/

Got to play with one at the building show in December. They are sweet. I just wish price was a little lower.

If you use deck room to create ceiling joists for first floor and another floor above that set to whatever you want to use for new 2nd floor space, it will let you manipulate joist direction. You would need to use 0" thickness for for deck planking layer for it to work and set deck room height to whatever thickness materials to be used for lifting new floor assembly up. Michael, I believe the wall would need to be at least twice the thickness of a plate for it to be considered a wall to be able to be drawn.

Have checked 3 different plans and all are opaque when set with porches. I used standard view and vector. Is the room actually defined as porch?

Small house plans from the 60's
justmejerry replied to Gawdzira's topic in Industry & Design Resources
Interesting to see. I noticed only a handful of those specific designs had a mere carport, which was big at that time. Now we design glorified garages with a house tucked in there somewhere. I think some of today`s garages are bigger than those houses. -
All you need to do is adjust decimal places.
-
I tried that earlier as well and turned on auto and all I got was the short wall rafters to show nothing else. However if it is changed to gable wall nothing.
-
You can set up dimensions to your liking in the defaults for unit of measure and number of decimal places.Just double click the dimension button and it will take you to the default dbx. You should start with a metric template for your plan as well. Profile M is the default metric template.

Not sure what is going on with that. I copied and pasted the roof over to side and the rafters show. No matter what you do with that roof it will not show in that area...almost like something is over-riding the roof plane. I copied rafters from one I moved to side and the rafters show then. This is one for tech support I think. Unless Michael or Glenn figure it out. P.S The link under the pictures in your post download a corrupted file at 10mb but dropbox link above the pics is good.
