Roof plane Is lower than the ceiling height
justmejerry replied to eyeshade's topic in General Q & A
Looks as though they may be okay just not over the other walls. Post plan or pic of your roof dbx. -
Or do as Joe said en mass. Set it up in your dimension defaults so they miss the window label.
-
That's what we're all here for. Glad you got it all resolved.

This may help you a bit. Watch the video by Alaskan Son. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/9168-circleradial-rick-pattern/?hl=%2Bradial+%2Bbrick+%2Bpattern#entry80378

This may solve a few issues for you. Just place door in wall of foundation and good to go. Minor height adjustment that's all. BILCO ENTRY DOOR.calibz I didn't see any extra wall on plan you attached. Could be wall got adjusted from room dbx. Just drag them down if you want. Also you don't really need room on main level so you could eliminate the invisible walls. Normally I would draw stairs for something like that as a p solid because we require a wall below upper portion. Just use a closed polyline to show concrete fill for sections.

If you post the plan it would be easier to solve the problem, many variables. Here is some Bilco stuff on 3d warehouse https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search.html?q=bilco&backendClass=entity

Floor: horizontal misalignment/separation
justmejerry replied to wrcolclough's topic in General Q & A
Without seeing the plan, I would recommend you turn on reference display (F9). Go to second floor and you will see where walls on first floor are. Drag your walls over to the referenced first floor walls. You can then use the align tool(bottom toolbar when wall is selected) to get it precise. -
Monolithic slab foundation with exterior rigid insulation
justmejerry replied to djhplanning's topic in General Q & A
Draw it without monolithic slab.Try a regular concrete stem wall with 2" insulation layer. Set foundation to 24" and no footing checked on wall. Set floor to 4" concrete instead of joists and 0 for room height in foundation room structure. You will have to make two adjustments in section view. 1. slab will go over top of insulation - just drag polyline back after auto detail. 2. you will not have chamfer showing - just adjust polyline to show this after auto detail. You can set your wall lines to be dashed in wall dbx if you choose to show more accurately. -
Open Concept, Partial Cathedral Ceiling required
justmejerry replied to Mrisser's topic in General Q & A
If you created a ceiling plane to give you the vault then trusses should stop with vault at the end of the ceiling plane and continue with flat bottom chord beyond that. Lots of possibilities though. Post the plan and fix is guaranteed to be quick. -
Usually always two walls. If you want any type of sub-floor structure such as dri-core etc. it will stop at wall not under it. Layers don't seem to help that since it is foundation wall. Also the slab will come up to frame wall not concrete wall. The other issue is that it will draw it all at the height of stem wall. Your top plates will not be right up to the the joists and no adjusting.

Stairs going up to second floor are blocked by the floor.
justmejerry replied to eckoownz's topic in General Q & A
You can do as Jared said by using some invisible walls or railings and wall combo and create room defined as open below...or just use the auto stairwell tool as in the picture below. -
Correct Michael. You can put fillers in manually if you so choose.
-
Those would be the "step markers" on the footings. They have their own layer so you can hide them.
-
Nice David. His and her's with a garage in the middle? Everything is bigger in Texas comes to mind as well
-
If you post the plan I am sure it will be fixed quickly by somebody.
-
Scaling is different so it will not copy precisely. Have you considered just using metric dimension defaults or combination of imperial and metric on the existing plan?
-
I agree Michael. Made a copy of it and tried autobuild roofs to see what would happen. Got roof rafters showing in default set with the layer not even turned on. Copied walls to my new metric template and no issues with roof whatsoever. Gremlins lol
-
That's my way of thinking Perry. Always elevation or section.
-
You can draw material region in elevation or cross section view.
-
It should be drawing attic walls automatically if auto rebuild walls is on. Worst case scenario you could draw them manually and just label as attic and line up with walls below using reference display.
-
That time it worked. You have two attic walls in same space. If you delete the attic walls you will see invisible walls. Change these by unchecking invisible and it works fine.

Maybe the file is open on your end when link is being sent. Is that the link that dropbox gives you for the file or is it copy and paste link?
-
That would be what I get too.

Downloaded and getting an error that it can't be opened. Anybody else have issue opening?
