  1. Me? Chief has always recommended Nvidia Gaming cards , so that is what I have always had...... looks like buying a 3080 in the new computer for X13 was a waste of hard earned $$$ though..... probably lost an hour today already with lockups.... M.
  2. Exactly ............ every plan has 30-40 Default (changeable) materials associated with it.... Doors, Windows, Roof Planes, Walltypes etc etc. M.
  3. Yes , I have posted about it before , in fact I am in the middle of another 5-9 min Freeze , ( 4 time this morning ) right now , so thought I'd come to the Forum. Doesn't happen just with Auto save though, also when I Ctrl-S or use another method to save the Plan or Layout. * No 3D crashes in my case ....... I seem to only get those in Plans brought forward from earlier Versions despite Dermot's claims. ** Well this might be a new record , I think this one is a hard crash 22 mins in now and still locked up well it lasted 23:36mins...... So , I figured I should Reboot the computer and tried to save the Plan ( above was a layout save) and it went straight back into lockdown ...just waiting on it now... yah...only 6:42 for this one....sheesh... Mick
  4. send as Image for now instead .....only downside is remembering to update it as needed , but I just save the Camera , open it and resend again. M.
  5. This was a known Issue in earlier Versions of X13 but is fixed in the latest release....... however your Sig. says you are using X12 , and I did not have the issue in x12. M.
  6. Chief always has a backup copy of the Templates in the Program's Install Folder in case it needs to replace the Default Templates in the Chief Data folder at any time. C:\Program Files\Chief Architect\Chief Architect Premier X13\Templates. ( the version you are using/need ^^^ ) Mick.
  7. Are you using X8 (in sig) , CA 12 , or CA X12 ? it would seem the Computer is upto the task it should be running Nvidia 511.79 and then make sure CA is using the 3080 and not the Intel integrated Graphics Card, which I suspect is the Issue. 511.79 https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/16205-nvidia-drivers-updated/page/4/?tab=comments#comment-261659 https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/18908-signature-here-at-chief-talk/?tab=comments#comment-155662
  8. Align the Inner surface , works fine for me...... maybe I did something else along the way ? .... but as you know CA has it quirks and sometimes , even one setting being off or moving a wall 1/2" and wham....suddenly it doesn't work as expected.
  9. You can break the wall at the corners and make the inner wall a pony wall to 109.125" ( ceiling height) and display only the lower wall but I have found that also has a few quirks depending on the situation. M.
  10. EVERY View has it own Display Options/Layerset , many of us work with the ALDO Open to make it easier to see what is on/off etc, you may also want to add the Layerset Toolbar etc to help keep track of things. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00017/displaying-framing-in-a-cross-section-elevation-view.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03122/displaying-the-active-layer-set-control-on-the-toolbar-or-in-the-aldo.html
  11. No , the dims needs something to snap too , that's why it there but you can make it very small like 1/8th radius.... (.125) will make them almost invisible , but you can go even smaller too if needed. M.
  12. Looks like it is, you probably don't have the Framing (Joists and/or Trusses) displayed in that camera view. (Layerset) M.
  13. Try the Offers Forum..... or consider HD Pro while you learn the Basics, CA takes the cost off Premier if you ever get the Full CA Version. M.

  15. (3D) Molding Lines should work , although quite a bit of work I imagine..... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00934/creating-hvac-and-plumbing-runs.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-02840/generating-3d-ductwork.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-02882/using-3d-molding-polylines.html
  16. The posts above are correct and I am not sure if they allow an upgrade to X12 now that X13 is released and of course X14 in the next 6 months I assume. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/sysreq.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/blog/computer-for-design-and-gaming/
  17. You must have your Terrain Perimeter (TP) way too big to generate out there , and because your Elevation Data does not extend to the edge of the TP Chief WILL generate it's own data to "fill" in the blanks.... Try using just the Purple Line ( your PL ) as the TP , ( pull TP lines in and snap to purple lines) and regenerate with these settings making sure the elevation date is OVER the TP Lines.
  18. The Library has it's own Webpage https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php the KB (FAQ) section is here https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/database.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php Mick.
  19. what happens if you turn you daytime intensity down to say 500 or 1000? *and check you don't have Gray Glass instead of STD Glass spec'd in the windows.... M.
  20. set the floor joist size on level 1 to 14" , and the 4x3 material in Defaults>Framing>Trusses Then draw your truss ( click and drag) wall to wall. Seen this one? https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/339/framing-with-floor-and-ceiling-trusses.html M.
  21. @ACADuser Alan might be worth talking too if he has Time.... M.
  22. Set the Main House as the Default for Level 1 in Defaults And Open the Garage Room and set the Floor Structure to 4" if needed ( set it as a garage normally does this )
  23. Use the normal exterior Wall and the Roof Tab to set Lower Wall if split by butting Roof....
  24. Might be a similar behavior that Graham ( KitchenAbode) posted about a couple of years ago ? at least his thread came to mind.... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/21163-provide-a-top-plate-lock-in-the-roof-plane-dbx/ M.
  25. Of course not...... I just took the top and bottom lines* in Robert's DWG and converted them to Elevation lines and input the Heights , Chief did the rest Auto. * you need a minimum of 2 Elev. Data points/lines to force the Terrain to move.....
