  1. Funny was I just about to Post that a Symbol works well, that is the Option I have used before, it works fine, with locked stretch planes so only the width is changeable and the Centre Tool makes it pretty fast once you have the height set on the 1st one. Here I also made a Sill Molding for under the Window too, which is fully Auto. The Window itself is set with a 8-9" high Flat Lintel .
  2. It is not the conventional way in CA but you can use Chief's built in Levels for it.... You can not Insert on Level 0 as far as I remember so you may need to use Edit > Edit Area For Each Floor and Paste them into a new Plan if that doesn't work. 4. 2nd Floor 3. Main Floor 2. Main Basement 1. Walkout Basement 0. Foundation (only) Mick.
  3. TurboCad has a number of low cost, non-subscription model AutoCAD Options as well, ( $70>$2000 range ) I personally picked up the Deluxe Version ($229) along with TurboPDF 4, as Abode's free Reader wasn't cutting it anymore. ( It is actually Foxit PDF V.9.7 ) https://www.turbocad.com/turbocad-windows-2021/turbocad-deluxe-permanent.html M.
  4. Thanks Tina , it's always good to see how Others do things, I appreciate it. Mick.
  5. Yes I am aware I am the one who wrote the "How To" and why I said IF........ but many Dells and HP Desktops do, as do many Laptops such as the MSI and Asus's I've owned.
  6. Nah , we wouldn't do that Thanks for the assist Eric.... M.
  7. Don't use Chief's Flared Stairs for this Use the Winders Checkbox ( and Max Contraction Setting if needed ) and you'll need a room divider to create a room between the two angled walls...... I'll have a play in the plan if that doesn't help..... Mick.
  8. Import the Saved Plan Views (SPV) from a "Known Good" Plan to correct them in the Current Plan ....... Then in your Plumbing SVP you need to make a dedicated Default for Plumbing for each setting in the Selected Defaults TAB after you , Right Click > Edit View . At 1st just create a new Default for each, with the green cross ( you can edit each one later as needed with the pencil icon ), and when done with them all..... at the top save a new Plumbing Default Set ( icon will now be red ). If you need more Help PM me.
  9. Unfortunately for me at least, the Save/AutoSave Lock out is back with the latest/new Microsoft Update on March 9th, 2022 so I will attempt as Rollback, it was Okay for the last week -10 days after the previous M$ Updates , so it appears , at least in Win10 that Chief is not playing nice with with Microsoft , rather than a Nvidia Issue for this problem anyway. @Dermot 11mins later....still locked out..... **** Update: The Rollback ( uninstall of KB KB5011487 ) to KB5010415 has fixed the Issue again for me Mick.
  10. Unfortunately for me at least, the Save/AutoSave Lock out is back with the latest/new Microsoft Update on March 9th, 2022 so I will attempt as Rollback. Mick. Still locked out 12 mins later..... **** Update: The Rollback ( uninstall of KB KB5011487 ) to KB5010415 has fixed the Issue again for me M.
  11. Sounds like you haven't downloaded ALL of Chief's (Free) Libraries yet...... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php?r=site/detail/795 Full X13 Library Mick.
  12. Yes but you'd be able to open the Plan and turn the Default Off and Chief SHOULD (?) clean up the Archive folder after itself if needed. If it was a Preference NO Plan would create an Archive Folder or do Auto Saves etc , which is not a good thing in my eyes at least. We are getting way Off Topic, perhaps start a Suggestions thread and we can move the Idea over there ? M.
  13. I didn't mean you , like most of us you probably learnt the Hard Way long ago and it's a tough lesson to learn.... Personally I am( was) having Issues with saving and Auto save in particular lately locking up Chief and after Today's Window's Update I am having other weird Issues so are using Ctrl-S a lot M.
  14. Not a bad idea at all .......but that one wouldn't help Forum Files as they all have Titles, but I could see an optional popup for New Files to the local Chief installation ( using the Recent List Data perhaps ) to " Auto Save On or Off for this Plan" or perhaps make it an optional per Plan Default? ( On by Default ) M.
  15. It can definitely eat up a SSD/HDD if you Open a lot of Plans like I do from Here and Clients.......... so I just go in to the Archive Folder and delete every folder I know is not from My Current Projects about once a month or so. About the best you can do is turn off Auto Save and only use the previous Save as an Auto Archive I think, and make the Warning 25-30 files? but I am not sure I would advise it, unless REALLY low on HDD space , say a small SSD in a laptop. ( probably worth getting a larger SSD IMHO instead )
  16. Shussssh , you'll give someone a false sense of security .... not everyone has X13 but I believe you are correct that was a new "Feature" this year - have you tested it? M.
  17. Hi, your sample plan isn't really per how Chief would work as technically you are standing outside looking at a single wall...... which for a 3D lighting Engine is a whole different ballgame...... so normally I'd build build a 20'x30' house with roof and monoslab foundation and add some lighting (cans) and more Windows for a true to life representation........ As Rene pointed out use 3D Trees not Tree Images from the Library. Turning Off Refraction in RTRT will take way the glass Reflections so you can see through to the vegetation...... Also if using RTRT make sure you let it run enough Samples so that the Glass isn't pixelated too ( perhaps 2500 is where i usually Cap my samples ) *** I see the new Forum file size Limit is 14mb now..... so I can't repost the file with the 20x30 house. Mick.
  18. Ok I forgot you had gone back to X12 on your Mac , I have not tried this in an X13 OOB Template to see if the Issue persists. Like others I am surprised your SubFascia are actually that size since it's "not off the shelf" , but it makes me wonder if something is hardcoded for standard size subfascias behind the scene. M.
  19. Hi Tom , I thought you might find this useful so I posted a Tip on How to Convert CA Time Tracker Durations to the Tips Forum..... Mick.
  20. Chief Time Conversion Using an Excel Formula By Mick – aka Kbird1 on the Chief Help Forums PDF FILE FOR DOWNLOAD : How to Convert Time to Decimal in Microsoft Excel 1.pdf *** I am not a Excel Expert , this is just how I do it..... First, create a new column if needed ( for me CA does this automatically??? ) and enter the formula : =HOUR(cellno#)+MINUTE(cellno#)/60 Where (cell no#) is the 1st Cell of the Data to be converted. In my case below the cell is C4 (underlined in RED) so =HOUR(C4)+MINUTE(C4)/60 You also need to make sure that the cells are formatted correctly. Select the CA Duration Time column, (C in pic above) right click and select “Format Cells” and select Custom, and then h:mm ( if needed type in the h:mm where it says Type) You also need to make sure that the Formula RESULT Column cells are formatted correctly. Do the same for your Decimal Time column……but set it to Number with 2 decimals, remembering the Result you see is in Decimal Hours NOT Hours and Minutes, ie 1.30 is 1.3 hours not 1 hr 30 mins. You will now have Time in a Numbers Decimals format which the AutoSum Feature should add together with no problems. ie =SUM(D4:D17) for this Image below You can then select the Cell with the Formula in it , hover over the bottom right corner for the cross icon and then grip it and pull down the column and Excel will fill in the result for all Cells automatically. Updated March 12th 2022. M. .
  21. Same results for me..... in your plan ...not sure if it was an OOB Template? M.
  22. This will help with that.... X13 does have new Dimensioning Options....... M.
  23. It would be like playing 20 questions trying to diagnose from a single image, it's better that you upload a small test plan ( 25mb max) done from the default residential Template , this will also tell you if it is a fault in your template perhaps too. M.
  24. Yep totally weird , and should go to Tech. Support for sure. M.
