  1. Do a search here on H.Locks , I think one of the other users on CA 10 had to send his Lock into the Maker and have it "reflashed" 1st. M.
  2. not sure if doable on an upgrade ...ask Sales ....but there is now a Rent to Own Option offered at about $220 month x 15 months....so upgrading should be cheaper.... M.
  3. Strange ...I have my Edit bar on the bottom see the attached pic for break line tool as in my pic , open a new plan and draw a single cad line , select it , and you should see it on the edit toolbar assuming this is a feature of X1 ? which I never had , so can't confirm for you. I am not sure if you can add it too a toolbar as it ONLY SHOWS IF SOMETHING IS SELECTED and the break tool can edit it..... M.
  4. I was thinking the same thing Curt, when I read this thread , I have hit the Tab's X a number of times , so now need to be more careful too. M.
  5. those look like Markers to me not dimension line ticks , they can be sized too though in the Dimension Text DBX I think....
  6. Right Click to get the Edit Context Menu , only way I know of...... (also opens toolbar) otherwise LC will open the toolbar wherever you have it Docked/Floating M.
  7. put a break then grab the corner and swing it around to the other line to get a triangle .......... but you got it now The Break line icon will ONLY show once you have selected something ( line based) , which is why you don't see it normally. X6 would do this automatically BTW.....
  8. You need the Break LINE Tool on the Edit toolbar , not the break wall tool. or usually the shortcut is '3' on the keyboard for the Break tool , click to select he roof plane ,then hit 3 , then click either side of the corner and pull the "point" back in towards the house..... Can't download your plan it is "locked" ??? I don't have permission apparently......
  9. it's a bit strange Joe cos I found the same thing if I didn't use Floor Supplied by Room below " I got 2 slabs It seems to work if you set the C measurement to minus -2.25" ie the thickness of the sill plate and the subflooring , then the garage area foundation stays at the house foundation height. with -2 1/4 " @ © ( removed floor from basement room) *** I was thinking it was a bug cos instead of the foundation jumping up 2.25" when you designate it a garage the Wall framing should drop and become longer with the bottom plate on top of the stem wall. M.
  10. no attachment D1 , you need to "add to Post" after you browse to your file and hit attach , so 3 steps.... M.
  11. I meant 24" plus 1 1/2" sill plate for the 24" above for the 25.5" total. just did another quick plan and as soon as you designate the garage as a garage the Stem wall pops up 1 1/2 " unspecified rooms garage specified ( main area still unspecified but makes no difference if say Living Room)
  12. Yes Please Doug......Tomorrow please having a circle is fine ...IF you are on the right level and not zoomed in and ....and ..... you get the picture ....click ok on the DBX and you have no way to trace it again... M.
  13. Curt's 2nd pic looks right to me ( ply is short , platform width?) but I am not sure why Jared's 2nd pic is showing a 2nd bottom plate and subfloor layer in the garage , it's not built like that anywhere I have seen ? *** looked at the video Scott ......the Problem Jared has showed in the 1st 2minutes of the video ,if I understand his issue correctly.... the stemwall in the garage is 1 1/2" above the stem wall of the house , it builds/built that way when you hit Auto build. I think he wanted 25.5 " stem walls on both the garage and house right? so the concrete will all be the same height. My question about the ply was in regard to why there is a plywood layer in his garage wall framing , not in the house framing.... not that I couldn't see it..... at about 7 mins in the video , it looks to me like the floor is there but due to the light/shadows you think you are looking at the joists?
  14. The sill plate is there it is just in the wrong place, as you say , even weirder is in your pic it is sitting on top of a plywood subfloor layer too on top of the stem wall .... I did a quick plan like you and get the same cross section except mine doesn't have the ply subfloor under the sill plate maybe you found a bug ? M. edit after playing around and finding nothing , I deleted the foundation , label the garage as unspecified again , rebuilt the foundation , specified garage again and it built correctly again without the layer of subfloor you have, I tried a few different settings while doing the above, so can't be sure which one got it in the end .....sorry, perhaps it depends on when you specify the garage room as such in the "build "process ?
  15. if you have toggled the Patterns off you won't see the tiles/grout lines in Vector View , if toggled on you should..... but still no reflections , they only show in Standard View and Ray Trace assuming you have the settings in the previous post. M.
  16. Evga does sell direct too , not sure how prices compare to those you see locally or elsewhere though..... perhaps you're looking for a whole computer ? not sure... http://www.evga.com/Products/ProductList.aspx?type=0&family=GeForce+700+Series+Family&chipset=GTX+770
  17. Is it possible to pull just the brick layer back 2 " ? ie same as it would be in the Real World ? so the trim shows? M.
  18. if it was quick erased , do a google search on recovering the MBR ,which can be done from the recovery console using the Windows Rescue disk.....do some research 1st but it is fairly easy to do. A Linux Live CD such are ZorinOS ( similar look to windows7 ) or Knoppix maybe able to recover the partition too and fix the MBR. Mick.
  19. Chief does not recommend running the program with file locking off , too much risk of file corruption , but other's may have real world scenarios they can expand on.... this has be discussed in other threads though ,so a search should find more info , I didn't read into it much muself since it's not a scenario I will ever run into here. M.
  20. I think it reverts to the "Free" version if you don't purchase , which means I think you can't use the Layout or Style Builder Apps , older versions like SU 8 don't have this. If you install SU Make(2014) , do a custom install so you can uncheck the file association for .layout which Chief uses. M.
  21. I would post your question on the EVGA Forums , plenty of guys there who are very knowledgeable ( I use evga cards too) at high resolutions you need more onboard VRAM so with a 50 and 2 30" monitors in the mix minimum 2GB might be pushing it.....you might need the 3GB version. M.
  22. if you open an older version .skp make sure you use save as (to the version you want/need) , if you hit Save it will automatically save it as the current version ,whatever that is eg .skp_2014.... and won't be backward compatible any longer. This is important if you are using an older version of Chief (or HD) as they can't import the newer .skp version files , but works the other way too , ie open a .skp_2014 file goto Save As and choose version 8 ( or whatever you need) ,save and import into Chief (or HD) , though downgrading may cause you to lose something from the model ? though I haven't had that issue myself (yet) M.
  23. Is that possible Lew? I have version 8 (old) but it only saves as .skp , in any version upto 8 , not sure if Sketchup 2014 Free can do other file types too? maybe Pro can ? aren't some of 3D warehouse's files in DAE too ? which I think MACs can do ? Ohhh does sketchup even run on MAC ? M.
  24. you would need to use a few CAD lines to show the recess I believe. if you send to layout you can scale it , then print to PDF , X6 has inbuilt PDF ,X5 use a PDF print driver like PDF995. for fast easy views for clients you can just export a jpeg , ( same as if you were there with a camera ) and send them, just make the window show what you want , zoom in out etc then snap a pic ( file>export>picture>jpeg.) and email it to the client. M.
  25. import the .skp using the file>import>3D Model>SKP dialog instead then....
