  1. you can use a double casement , or is that not the look you want ? select the Bay by clicking over front window , click Select Next ,which should select the window and you should be able to open the Windows DBX and make it a double casement or any of the other choices. M.
  2. Not sure if that Corner glass window is what Heather wants but I found my old post/thread on it too here : https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/147-corner-windows-and-sliding-doors/page-1#entry767 They would likely just butt the glass Tommy and use silicon same as in a custom shower enclosure , not sure there is a need for your metal "connector" really , I'd find it distracting I think but perhaps it is a Code issue some places? M.
  3. no plan attached .... Chief will always allow 2 studs minimum either side of a window/door/opening I think , you maybe able to play with that on the Build Framing DBX (dialog box) under "Openings"....Trimmers Make sure you have your Plan defaults >Plan >Ignore Casing for opening resize checked too but Corner windows are possible ,with some messing around .
  4. the framing is stopping it ie 2 studs or 3" but if it is an automatic bay check the box on the options tab "no framing between components" and they should join at the outer corner.
  5. Well for $30 plus shipping Curt I don't think you can go wrong if Charles can hook you up...... BTW a lot of the photos I have seen of the G13 make it look like it stands on end , with the screen up off the desk but it in fact lies flat like your keyboard. You will probably get used to it faster than me Curt , as I have feeling only in my Pinky due to an accident about 4 yrs ago , but I think it will work better than reaching for the keyboard all the time as I am not a "sit up straight" and type kinda guy anyway....always been a sloucher so think this will help with my more relaxed sitting posture. Mick.
  6. found this Tut. on Logitech's Site too Curt. http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/31714/related/1
  7. these security pages might help but your grace period is 2 weeks it says here: http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/security.html http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00937/ So if intermittent internet or slow it should be fine.... however you may want to check will Sales on Monday as I'm not sure what Doug means by "more or less" above. M.
  8. it looks as though the balcony rail /newel is in the right place ...check perhaps ? is the top of the Stair snapped to the upper balcony though? do I see a wavy line there? the elevation seems to show part of the stair in the balcony too Post your Plan perhaps and let one of the Guru's have a look.... M.
  9. Yes it works but will depend on how its programmed , I have it set to be the Arrow keys today to try it and it is scrolling/zooming and moving items in 3D but seems to be working properly today after I installed the 3.06 Software from Logitech's FTP site after reading about it on their Forum. With 3.03 the arrow keys didn't auto repeat if you held the JS over but are now .... unless it was the reboot between last night and today, that now has it working as expected? That was why I was hoping Allan might post his profile...... Have not loaded 8.55 software yet though. EDIT it is still on sale today Curt at Amazon $59 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001NEK2GE/ref=pe_783330_122571400_em_1p_0_ti Mick.
  10. Hi Allan , decided to order a G13 after seeing your comments , it turned up yesterday so I was wondering if you would mind sharing your Profile(s) for it , hoping it will give me an idea as what will work best where since you've used yours for some time , thanks. Curious which software you are using too , mine came with Ver.3.03 Key Profiler which appears to be from 2009 ? website is showing LGS 8.55 Mick.
  11. With Custom Rails you place yourself you must be very careful to place the Rail on the Staircase or you will see what is happening in your Pics. the Rail will literally fall off and onto the Ground, Looking at your Plan Views it appears the radius of the handrail and stairs do not quite match , ie the curve of the rail at the top end it "almost" touching the staircase edge whereas at the bottom it is an inch ( a guess) inside the staircase which is probably why it hasn't "fallen down" . To confirm my suspicion's just drag the rail in 6" and see if it "pops up" onto the staircase as expected. M.
  12. It's a relatively new option I think (July 1st?) , I saw Dan Park mention it in a thread about a month ago which was the 1st time I had heard of it. It is Rent to Own $199 month for 15 months , ($2985 total) if you pay 15 months in a row ,but miss a month and your 15 months start again..... there is also a monthly Rental Fee of $19.33 which I thought was additional but looking at the Agreement I believe it is included in the Rent to Own agreement. SSA is included and continues at $45 month after you own the Software , not sure if the monthly SSA is offered normally of not? though you can outright buy SSA as normal too at $445 yr. More info here http://www.chiefarchitect.com/software-rental/ Rental agreement here https://www.google.com/url?q=http://cloud.chiefarchitect.com/1/pdf/sales/chief-software-rental-agreement.pdf&sa=U&ei=01UCVNelNMG1iwLusoHoDA&ved=0CAYQFjAB&client=internal-uds-cse&usg=AFQjCNHA9_HfEQR_V8mcFNK4r0P70ULR4g Normally Chief needs the Internet to activate/deactivate (eg switching computers) , download libraries and it needs to call home every 10-14 days to re-register ( same with HD Pro) I believe but I am unsure whether the Rent to own version is different or not in that regard.
  13. is "follow stairs" checked for that section of the staircase still ? another thought would be, is top section still connected properly to the top floor/landing ? M.
  14. Use a retaining wall with an elev. line either side , not a terrain wall which will follow the terrain as Tommy noted..... M.
  15. Sounds like you found a bug . you should report it.... there is already a known bug I think with brick walls and how the Casings are generated. just checked and you are right , the 1/2 gap around the windows is there in 6" brick walls but not the siding one I just drew.... in elevations M.
  16. via the import DBX in any of the formats listed , ie the same way you import .skp files but maybe 3DS/DAE/DWG/DXF etc. M.
  17. Trusses are auto generated between a roof plane and ceiling plane , so pretty easy to draw once the Roof is built , they build to the presets in the Build Framing dialog >Trusses , you can make all members 6" ( or as desired). You may need to turn on Roof Trusses in the Display Options if you are not seeing them ..you need to do this in each view eg plan, elevation,3D , once on , they stay on till you turn them off. check the Knowledge base (KB) there are tutorials there I used .... videos are only if you have SSA I think? but Scott Hall has some on ChiefTutor too I think.... yes he does ...http://www.chieftutor.com/scotthall2/
  18. I'm trying X6 too and some libraries are free , some not , they appear to be updating and adding libraries now X6 is released and the initial flurry of needed tech support is over. at the moment it seem the free libraries are the older ones which ,when on the download site appear to have a white background , grey are the ones that require SSA to download. EDIT: I am finding I need to open/use download button each Library to confirm SSA or not as not all the Library Icons are translucent /appear white to tell that way. http://3dlibrary.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?r=site%2Flibrary&search=&x=true&hid_cpca=0&hid_cpu=0&hid_ctm=0&hid_ctnm=0&hid_order=&hid_norotator=false&hid_soft_family_1=1&hid_soft_family_2=0&hid_soft_1=1&hid_soft_2=0&hid_soft_3=0&hid_soft_4=0&hid_soft_5=0&hid_soft_6=0&hid_soft_7=0&hid_soft_8=0&hid_soft_9=0&hid_version_1=0&hid_version_2=0&hid_version_3=1&soft_family_1=1&soft_1=1&version_3=on&x=0&y=0 It would be nice if there was an option to automatically download , at least categories of the library same as the Core , this is time consuming....
  19. I usually just draw over the Auto Attic walls where needed and it seems to work fine... , not sure that is how it's "done" so hopefully someone can enlighten us further... M.
  20. if you need the end panel , open an old plan and add it to the library so you can use in your new plans. I usually do it like Greg (Electromen) does it... M.
  21. Thanks Barry , now I see why it wasn't working like I thought..... Changing all the floor heights should be fairly quick with the Select Same Tool> select floor elevation in the DBX then change the height in the open DBX. M.
  22. But what about in the future ? X7 perhaps ? no plans for GPU usage outside OpenGL ? ever ? ....bit surprised considering the power of GPU's there days... that sounds like a substantial investment by Mealexemail , so he may need to think further out than just CA X6 versions.... M.
  23. The template you made from your old plan should have the Floor heights set as default for that template .....(at least I thought so..haven't tried it) so if you paste into it , the Template defaults should rule the heights.... I am not sure how you made your new template from your description though.... M.
  24. Could you just save the old plan with all the Defaults you want as a template ? open the template, Delete everything, and resave as a blank template plan with all the correct/wanted Defaults ? and then use it as the Default Plan for New Plans? M.
  25. Thx Jon.... think I saw flags in a Bonus Library didn't I ? only US though.... M.
