guess you didn't read the whole thread ? if your SSA isn't active on March 5th you don't get the beta ...however Lew talked to Sales and they set him up on Monday. You can however download the Trail version of Chief instead someone pointed out yesterday. mine didn't show till I re-downloaded the X6 file 1st to save as a backup as pointed out by Perry , then the x7 beta link showed in my locker too.

If I pin it to the taskbar I get the new Icon but when X7 is running I get the Standard one ,even though the Properties show Alan's Icon......I guess I misunderstood what Alan was doing....

Use 4 exterior walls and put your remodel in the appropriate corner or right in the middle if your remodel has no exterior walls such as in this KB article too though not all that helpful http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00917/

Funnily enough the only place I have seen the March 5th date (after following the *) on it was on Yesterday's. (?) Chief News Email , wonder if this thread prompted that ? Anyways Glad things worked out Lew.... M.

Thanks , I changed the Desktop Icon ( shortcut) no problem , but Chief.exe still uses the old one on the Taskbar , so I guess I applied it to the wrong thing? the .exe doesn't appear to have an change icon button.....

Michael is correct you need a Certified HVAC Engineer in most places to design the system and stamp the Plan , which most Architects can't do...its a specialised field. M.

two different 10x10 buildings , so two different materials on the list , how you a build Rock face 10x10 with 27 blocks less I am unsure as that is basically one layer on all four sides.... but it's all guess as CA does not document this stuff for the End User. M.

there is vinyl siding in the CertainTeed library , but not sure if Chief does the J-Mold which is normally about 7/8 thick I think ,check a Manufacturer's Site. Can you not rotate the siding texture 45° in the material's definition ? (texture tab) M.

4 here too , even if minimised , if the comp. sleeps however they go away....(was just out of the Office) strange behaviour....

for the activate/deactivate button? though that should just "dial home" when needed ,other than that I thought it only called home once every two weeks to re-register. how are you checking? M.

FYI was looking as SSA page since I figured I missed something and if you don't pay your SSA and it expires , then you have to pay the Upgrade price instead IF there has been a major release.... so it would cost you double what SSA is worth.... http://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/ssa/ In 8 years I don't think I have had a "feel good" moment in relation to Chief, quite the opposite , I think they have dropped the ball too...Long time forum members are essential here...we pick there brain everyday. Kc not sure if it is what did it for me , but I downloaded the X6 File in my Locker again to see if it would "wake up" my locker , and it seemed to work as I then got the X7 link just after. coincidence ? you might want to copy and paste the rest into the Q&A section as a new question so more people see it ...perhaps into the Suggestions are too...

While this issue doesn't effect me as I am paid up , I too assumed that if you had SSA in good standing you got anything Released ( perhaps I didnt see the small print either?), so I can see Lew's point , especially since it is only a Beta , and I assume it will expire 30 days (?) after the release of the Full Version , I am unsure how it could hurt anything , infact I would of thought the opposite....ie the Beta would encourage an upgrade. Would it not better to ProRate the SSA so everyone was on July 1st for example and this becomes a non-issue ? Times are tough out here ,and about to get tougher here, I think, after our Govt. dropped int rates yest. and scared the crap out of everyone with talk of another recession , so something else Chief could contemplate would be a monthly $40 SSA fee instead of a $465 hit all at once ,which can be tough in any particular month if you have other emergency expenses, another benefit with monthly is no-one would ever be "Out of date" thus no chance of losing a Customer and Chief would have a guaranteed monthly income...usually a good thing. What is the SSA cutoff date for the Full X7 then if it's not the Release Date ? M.

Yep looks good Johnny , I'm just not sure I understand your reference to 1/4 of the eave ? The eave overhang should be really short ? ie a 1/4 of what Eric showed ? (which I think is just the default setting that Eric didn't play with...) M.

looks like there is an issue with the main ceiling plane Bob, it is higher than the barrel plane , and you can see at the back the crown moulding it 3" ? down from the ceiling , which tells me the ceiling plane moved up for some reason, might be why it isn't working ? did you rebuilt the 3D view with F12 ? worse comes to worse use a soffit or polyline solid for the 3D pics and move on.
