Phils plan looks ok in overview in X6 ( in windows) ,using same Balcony technique as Bill
-
NO Rich it was aimed at Steve his plan I downloaded had the porch roof at 8 /12 but his PDF shows 6/12 which drops the roofline making room for the corbels, it also shows 3 windows ,but asked for one originally , then 2 which changes the game plan , you can't use the Auto Box window with multiple windows Originally I did it without all the pertinent information ,,, I blame Steve ie its 2 storey above a porch with 3 windows not 1..... don't have the beta to play in yet.... All good info , but don't rely on one product to "do it all" as Java said its more likely to be Malware or a Hijack these days so make sure you run tools for Malware too , other good ones Java didn't mention and all free ,especially if you are infected are adwcleaner, roguekiller, JRT (junkware removal Tool) , TDSSKiller, Rkill Malware Killer , however do a little reading , some of these tools are powerful . Malwarebytes Pro will run full time unlike the free version and is currently $24.95 for 3 computers..... (no affiliation) M.

you aren't "using" Avast if you only let it bootscan for Rootkits and Viruses , let it run in realtime as it should... did you read post #9 ? Cleaning the Browser should help with that , if not try Malwarebytes , then try HitmanPro next. Turning on the popup blocker in IE means you have to RC a lot of links online but it does help stop "ambush" type websites from immediately loading a 2nd page via a popup and downloading Malware to your Comp. when you click on an interesting Google Link. You have to be Proactive these days , and Macs are no longer immune to this stuff since the OS is now big enough to make it worth while for these @#$%$#@ to go to the trouble. And stay off sites with "FREE" TV shows and movies ......cleaning up a friend's laptop right now ..Malwarebytes found 432 "problems" on the 1st run ! M.
-
It should run anyway I think Scott but in Avast's Tools Menu Run the Browser cleaner app anyway to be sure Avast is a good Anti Virus but at least in windows (for me) it's Web Rep Browser Addon causes IE to crash ,took me months to figure out what was causing it but no issues once removed. ( if you also use Avira Free ,they will remove each others web Browser addon saying it is bad too but don't think Avira is on Mac ) you should look at a dedicated Malware Program too to work along side Avast being it is Malware causing your issue not a virus perse. Malwarebytes is good in Windows with a free or paid version but I don't know the Mac EcoSystem at all. http://www.malwarebytes.org/

roof pitch on your porch is 8/12 drawing shows 6/12 , which is room for your corbels.... and I see 3 windows
-
can you select the soffit in 3D view and pull it up or down to "mend" the hole? M.
-
you lost the ceiling in the porch as it it set at 175" ,switching it to default causes your Box window to disappear though. actually it is inside the porch roof is the box window supposed to be under the existing Main roof or have its own roof as seen in your plan ?cx edit: I see Bill posted above while I was playing ....Nice ...
-
Ahhhhhh your original question didn't mention 2 separate windows , I think you'd have to make the 1 look like 2 , or do the Box window manually instead to allow that, but am not 100% sure I'd need to play a bit ...might have time later to try if some else doesnt answer 1st. to edit the window not the Box Bay hit tab or Next after selecting the Bay. M.

it sounds like a standard Auto Box Window with a couple of brackets from the library , is it not working/ what is the problem? M. edit : your settings seem to work for me Steve on Auto ..I didn't add the brackets btw.... and you need to delete each side window at 12" depth 12x36 Box window.plan

New Computer Advice? Chief Orthographic View Speed
Kbird1 replied to JennyB's topic in General Q & A
are you sure Chief is using the Nvidia Card and not the intergrated Intel 4600 which it uses normally to save battery power ? see the render panel in the Prefs. The Quadro cards gain you nothing in Chief , if going to desktop get a GTX 970..... or a 770 to save $$$ perhaps with 3 or 4GB of Ram. M. -
Okay thanks for clearing that up Arthur , the Auto healing in X6 is REALLY aggressive compared to older versions I have , which seemed to "play nice" when I tried it later last night. guess I need to figure out the right drawing Order so I don't need to touch anything again once done..... Thanks guys... M.

Totally agree on the One Tab for all railing info........ +1 I was not aware the Railing must be different on the Landings ......That I would call a Bug and explains why I can get it to work occasionally using the wall break tool but how often do you see that in real life ? I rarely if ever have a straight flight,as space is always tight. I will give it a go , but do you mean totally different or, is say making Landing Rail all 2 1/8 square rather than 2" enough for the Prog. to "think" it is different? Thanks Scott
-
played a bit more and a single fllght works fine and I can get a one rail to behave occasionally after breaking the rail at the edge of the landing with the break wall tool but I have never had to do that before that I remember. I have found the occasional auto generated Room Divider Wall in the stairwell too, which just seems strange... latest plan Landing-Stair Issue_orig.plan beginning to think I have a gremlin , plan posted fine with the plan still open this time....
-
would be my guess too...
-
Yes wrong term I guess..... I meant Open to access the trimmer and components dialog the tab key or next button will get you to the window itself that you clicked on instead of the Bay so you can adjust them individually , and tighter to the corners depending on framing and Casing etc. Normally each Auto Bay Window is sized automatically depending on Bay Size and the framing and casing settings otherwise. thanks Alan. M.
-
Do you mean your staircase on the Right ? ( mine on left?) the default staircase railings will work ...note no bottom rail , but the Railing wall , at least with the glass panel from the library won't on the landings , works fine on the stairs..... ,still not sure if its a connection issue or a bug.....but works on neither landing. Mick.
-
I tried it both ways , if checked it joins the sloped rail and shoot off at the same angle , unchecked it falls to the ground , so I guess the railing isn't joining properly for some reason? 20+ views , 5 download and no answers except your Arthur ,doesn't bode well but thank you. M.

Seeking Architect For Plan Finalization - Kalamazoo Mi

" but are the proportions correct? Does the design have proper massing, scale, balance....etc." I don't really want to make this thread any longer but I am unsure why certain people only think an Architect can know anything about these things ? wow.... On a Sidebar which is why I Posted really , is that the OP is disgusted in how this thread has gone on and on with the DIY/Designer Bashing and She is now worried about having to deal with Architect's..... So nice going..... M.- 94 replies

Just like the other day here :https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/3422-railings-2nd-floor-railings-are-on-first-floor-help/ Thought we had found the answer "uncheck follow stairs" on horizontal floors/landings but I guess there is something else that can cause this fault too , I offered to look at another Users plan but ended up duplicating it simply, as a test to eliminate weird errors in the original plan, but got the same issue,so I will attach it for you guys to look at , probably missing another check box ? Landing setting? the stair Straight rails follow the stair fine, the landing rails fall to the ground without the "follow staircase" box , if its checked they join the staircase rail and shot up on the same angle..... thanks for your time... Mick Forum wont attach the plan so i'll post it separately sorry..... note to self ...close the Plan 1st, then attach

if its a Auto Bay window you may need to explode the Bay to resize the window 1st..... you may also need to check the option for "ignore casing " on resize in Defaults Plan and set the minimum separation smaller in Defaults Windows for less framing play with the setting in the Bay Window Options here: M
