  1. Is it just me or has it been down all weekend so far , I used it Friday no problem but couldn't get in Yesterday or today so far. M.
  2. My crashes was also in a plans where I had added several symbols to the Library , one a Wall type from the remodel Sample Plan and the other was Some Nike and Adidas Logos I imported/changed from .skp's and added to the library. The Library was doing weird pauses too while I was making new folders for the new symbols in my User Cat. and moving the new symbols to them. M.
  3. Hi Johnny you have inadvertently Posted on ChiefTalk instead of Hometalk , you can use the same ID and password over there to sign in too. https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/ But my guess is you didn't setup the Garage foundation it the Build Floor>Foundation>Garage section something like this assuming you have all these options : If the foundation is all auto done by the program , just delete it and start again. you should get something like below with the above settings:
  4. they were just quick test plans I was playing in while testing stuff on the Forum here , so I had no intention of saving them anyway but the same behaviour wasn't noted in X7-Beta. I'll send to support if I'm able to isolate or figure it out. Thanks.
  5. AFAIK the Roof will pass over a knee wall if checked as such whereas if not checked the wall will try to build to "default Height" if possible , ie you cut a roof hole. A knee wall's height is controlled by the Roof too not the ceiling height so typically only used in 1 1/2 storey houses ie Cape Cods. (Which makes me think the Tutorial on 1 1/2 storey houses may have suited your situation better.) and the setting is usually only used if doing an Auto Roof as Scott mentioned in the video. As I started with Pro 6-7 years ago I usually start with AutoRoofs then Clean up with the Manual tools if needed. KB website is down today but I have an old copy of it here from HD Pro: One and a Half Story House_CapeCod.pdf Edit: I see Glenn beat me to it , nice example.
  6. Hi just wondering if anyone else is getting a crash on closing a file , I think both times today it was after I said No to the "do you want to save" DBX. Don't remember an issue with X7 beta with this , wondering if I should deactivate and do a Full Clean install. M.
  7. they are showing in the base cabinets too Perry , but yes a bit strange , I never do framed cabinets but never noticed this perhaps post the plan Dennis and someone can try and find a bad setting or something...
  8. Not sure why they still say to use a skylight in that Tutorial , we have had the (Roof plane) Cut Hole Tool for quite sometime....and the fact you really don't need it of course.... Have a look at this Tutorial I still have from 5-6 yrs ago Rich. still works in all Titles even those without manual roof plane editing. Dormers done Manually.pdf
  9. @Mainewood how well does the 3D work in a Virtual Drive , I thought that 3D acceleration wasn't enabled ? or is that just in the MS XP-Mode not the one you are using? Best bet is to just do a dual boot with XP and run it natively if needed.
  10. hi Mark , Simonas post a similar question a while back and Robert came up with a solution , not sure if it will work in your case but here is the post https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/3365-wall-bumps-onoff/
  11. is that scale right : 1mm=1mm ? I use imperial at 1/4"=1ft so for you 6mm = 300mm approx. the margins look huge 60mm = 2 1/2" the page is only 11X17 isn't it? approx. M.
  12. Ouch ! Missus kick you outta bed this morning Mr Hall good video, I wasn't sure why he was using the Roof holes either ,though the Cupola tutorials use that technique, but I didn't find the "hidden" wall when I was looking at the plan good spot. M.
  13. Actually I preferred the old icons too , new ones look like MAC ones converted to PC , at least to me , but I'm slowly getting used to them , they seem a "bit" better in X7 Full actually, but that maybe just me getting used to them?.
  14. have you checked the "show drawing Sheet" checkbox ? on the setup page looks like you forgot to hit ATTACH again Francis , check this thread/tutorial id did on Hometalk to attach plans and pics https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/221-how-to-take-pics-andor-post-your-plan-to-the-forum/?p=1145
  15. If your SSA is current it should be in your locker , if not .....
  16. The import of (some?) .dae files from SU/3D warehouse is now working properly too I just discovered after seeing this post , so thx for the followup. M.
  17. X7 came out Wed. so someone got on that bug quick thanks for pointing it out. I would hope they do a small program update for stuff like that in X6. I guess you don't have SSA? otherwise you'd have X7 already , perhaps you can renew? , might be cheaper than the upgrade ($645) to X7. http://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/upgrade.html
  18. Looks like you need to alert your State's Charitable Donations Office Kevin , since they are Soliciting for "Donations" , a sizable donation judging by the scope of work needed. email at the bottom http://doj.nh.gov/charitable-trusts/index.htm
  19. Thanks Scott , picked up some new ideas
  20. Double check you have the Layout Window as your main window (or only window) in Chief before you do a "Backup Plan + All Referenced Files" , not the Plan ( or 3D view) Window and see if that works..... then put/copy the Backup folder onto OneDrive or Dropbox or similar. If you do the backup from the plan window it will NOT save the Layout even with the "Backup Plan + All Referenced Files" option checked .....not sure if that is a bug or not ? but easy for someone to think that ALL FILES would be backed up no matter which window is open from the DBX checkbox options. M.
  21. Thanks for clarifying Joe , I didn't want to put anyone wrong, making symbols is pretty new to me. M.
  22. you could try WinXP compatibility mode in win7 and see if it works. M.
  23. I am new to this Tip Joe so you might want double check me, maybe my box symbol was made wrong? , I liked your idea of the box rather than plant so tried it but found the same issue as Maureen so switched back to my (Perry's Plant) other Plan Note symbol . M.
  24. I have always used Soffits for glass showers , are there advantages to using the Partition instead ? I haven't looked into Material Regions yet btw.
  25. if you use Perry's Plant method , not Joe's 1/8" box symbol Method , it stays checked , I switched back for that reason. M.
