  1. Yes they resized it , it is mentioned in the X7 migration Guide page 4. Formatting of Bulleted and Numbered Lists 4 Chief Architect X7 In Version X7, various improvements were made to the way lines of Rich Text are spaced. In legacy plans opened in Version X7, Rich Text objects with bulleted and numbered lists may require adjustments. 3. Chief Blueprint Font The Chief Blueprint font was improved for Version X6, with decreased top and bottom spacing. The change in spacing may increase the overall height of text objects using this font in X6 files opened in Version X7. X5 and prior legacy files will not be affected by this change.
  2. similar issue to this post of mine here , the landing rails cause issues https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/3483-landing-rails-falling-too/
  3. What happens if you truncate the autogenerated no#s to say 7 digits? instead of 40 , it's not like I am going to have over a million archives in one Folder, so a 7 digit random number should suffice or even a 7 digit "counting" no# should do it, since many of us have many nested folders in an attempt at folder organisation. Did you try just shortening the Folder name in Explorer Rob? not sure if that permanent if CA's system overwrites with a new 40 digit name when it doesn't find the old one though. M.
  4. Thx Dermot , I didn't expand the Details ( that gobblygook means nothing to me) but I did hit the Report button which said it was successful , but have not been able to repeat the Crash as yet.
  5. Have I missed a video somewhere ? sounds good....
  6. seems my response yesterday isn't here ? your Printer is capable of 24x36 so are you trying to set it up for A2 ?
  7. Tonight after making a new layout and saving it (thankfully) plus a 2nd copy as a backup with a different name, I then closed the layout window and X7 crashed again but this time I got this error DBX popup before it went down.
  8. Attic is a special designation in CA/HD software , which cause roof to be built off the 1st floor framing, you can't build Rooms in the Attic (A) level either, so use the 2 storey method with open to below, have a look in the KB for an article on 1 1/2 storey/Cape Cod houses (set the 2nd storey to 0" if needed, ie no knee walls) or one on Lofts/Mezzanine Floors.
  9. I thought I had seen something familiar mentioned but gave up on AMD/ATI many years ago , always seemed like there are weird issues like this. I don't think you read the Steam review of AMM http://store.steampowered.com/app/241680 there is this free one though http://sourceforge.net/projects/dualmonitortb/
  10. No lost / line weight issues with CAD lines on my G1 GTX970 that I can see , you may get more responses tomorrow during the work week , think I have seen Doug Park comment on issues like this before too. Since I am only running 3 x 23" monitors via Displayport off the G1 @1920x1080 , I am not sure the 3.5GB limit will be reached with Chief , though I can't really tell as my old MB is only PCIE2 capable and is running 12gb of PC1600 (12800) memory and an i7-950 CPU so I think I have other bottlenecks anyway. It is definitely faster than the 2x GTX470 I was running and WAY quieter and Cooler than them too, so no real regrets on my part as yet, and hopefully wont be any once I can upgrade the rest. M
  11. KB is up again , here is the links to a split level and daylight tutorials http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00932/ http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00376/ http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00868/ http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00718/
  12. Thx for the heads up andre
  13. Well it appear VMware Virtual machines work nice.
  14. Post the plan with the issue , with the camera saved so I can check on GTX970 BEFORE your buy one Guru3D is a good place to find Older Drivers too http://www.guru3d.com/files-categories/videocards-ati-catalyst-vista-win-7.html note I found this about 4 days after buying my 970 , still not sure if I have a real issue or not ( don't do any high res gaming) http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/does-the-geforce-gtx-970-have-a-memory-allocation-bug.html
  15. I would try different versions of the Catalyst Drivers , some my work better than others , Nvidia had some bad drivers for a while too related to colors etc, so you had to pick and choose. M.
  16. James , by chance are you using a Home Designer Title by Chief Architect rather than CA Premier ? Home Designer has it's own Help Forum where you will get better answers related to whatever title you are using. You should add your Title and Version to your Forum signature as different versions have different Tools and thus answers to your question . there is also a Knowledgebase (KB) Area with tutorials , and I believe there is one for this question ,however it is down this weekend for maintenance it appears. https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/
  17. Thanks Greg , usually you'd see a "down for Maintenance sign" I'd have thought , which is why I thought perhaps it was on my end.
  18. I believe Win7x64 Explorer Had? still has? an artificial limit of 255 characters for the length of any file path , though I have not counted what you have up above , paste it into Word , it will tell you on the Status Bar. My archive folder Folder/filenames look similar too yours btw. M http://support.code42.com/CrashPlan/Latest/Troubleshooting/Windows_File_Paths_Longer_Than_255_Characters note MS say the limit is 260 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows/file-names-extensions-faq#1TC=windows-7
  19. Is it just me or has it been down all weekend so far , I used it Friday no problem but couldn't get in Yesterday or today so far. M.
  20. My crashes was also in a plans where I had added several symbols to the Library , one a Wall type from the remodel Sample Plan and the other was Some Nike and Adidas Logos I imported/changed from .skp's and added to the library. The Library was doing weird pauses too while I was making new folders for the new symbols in my User Cat. and moving the new symbols to them. M.
  21. Hi Johnny you have inadvertently Posted on ChiefTalk instead of Hometalk , you can use the same ID and password over there to sign in too. https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/ But my guess is you didn't setup the Garage foundation it the Build Floor>Foundation>Garage section something like this assuming you have all these options : If the foundation is all auto done by the program , just delete it and start again. you should get something like below with the above settings:
  22. they were just quick test plans I was playing in while testing stuff on the Forum here , so I had no intention of saving them anyway but the same behaviour wasn't noted in X7-Beta. I'll send to support if I'm able to isolate or figure it out. Thanks.
  23. AFAIK the Roof will pass over a knee wall if checked as such whereas if not checked the wall will try to build to "default Height" if possible , ie you cut a roof hole. A knee wall's height is controlled by the Roof too not the ceiling height so typically only used in 1 1/2 storey houses ie Cape Cods. (Which makes me think the Tutorial on 1 1/2 storey houses may have suited your situation better.) and the setting is usually only used if doing an Auto Roof as Scott mentioned in the video. As I started with Pro 6-7 years ago I usually start with AutoRoofs then Clean up with the Manual tools if needed. KB website is down today but I have an old copy of it here from HD Pro: One and a Half Story House_CapeCod.pdf Edit: I see Glenn beat me to it , nice example.
  24. Hi just wondering if anyone else is getting a crash on closing a file , I think both times today it was after I said No to the "do you want to save" DBX. Don't remember an issue with X7 beta with this , wondering if I should deactivate and do a Full Clean install. M.
  25. they are showing in the base cabinets too Perry , but yes a bit strange , I never do framed cabinets but never noticed this perhaps post the plan Dennis and someone can try and find a bad setting or something...
