  1. Nicer but may incur copyright violations if used commercially you are right the 1st one does look better than nothing BTW
  2. You did , I was looking for a text style or default after watching your videos yesterday , didn't occur to me that the colour was Layer assigned not a Text style. thanks, Mick.
  3. as long as your username and the Signout button is in the Top RH corner , you are signed in , I was thinking you were somehow on the mobile theme even though not on a mobile computer... do you see new unread posts highlighted ? if so , you are definitely signed in M.
  4. Same issue with Russ's image , I think perhaps he put it in his User Gallery and posted a link here instead of the pic itself, but hasn't unlocked his gallery for Public viewing yet.
  5. Thanks Wendy,, i like that idea , did you set up a new Text Style for Roofs to do that ? I assume it's using the Default Text style now as I can't figure out it's setting.....did I miss that in one of your new videos ? (Thanks again for those BTW ...excellent) M.
  6. You were asking about the baluster spacing in the staircase spec. in post no#9 so I assumed you were using the Auto Railing...... but I don't think you can with the Auto Railing , you get the default (code?) spacing only, another reason to use manual railings as for your other issue .....Not sure as I haven't come across that issue with a manual railing , personally I don't like Balusters sitting on treads look wise, but if I need that look I use the Staircase Auto Rail I am not sure Glenn's method with deck railings works on staircases , at least it hasn't for me , (I may have done it incorrectly) as the railing is over the staircase perhaps? unlike in the deck scenario where the railing is outside the deck ( posts fascia mounted) , perhaps if you altered the manual railing with an air gap layer like the deck railing but in reverse to push the railing in? so perhaps Yusef's ramp method maybe the only way? , may need Glenn to chip in on this one....
  7. Thanks again Wendy , another excellent Set of videos , hopefully you'll have time to do more in the future. Mick.
  8. Thanks Wendy , great videos , appreciate you putting in the Time to do those, I picked up a new Annotation Set and some nice Tips too, like how useful Alt-Q really is.... For someone who claims not to be a good trainer , those are excellent , you obviously enjoy what you do, and can tell you do with a smile on your face, unlike some of Chief's Own Trainers ....... I certainly haven't watched 20 for their Vids in a row ! Mick. edit : as Rich pointed out ...definitely worth a point or 3 , thx.
  9. If you have the Plan , you have the 3D model , but this isn't an Architecture Course , it is on Construction Management , so Lew likely has it correct , though The Uni. has good Contractor relationships looking at their website , so I am surprised one of them isn't willing to Share a plan but there maybe Legal issues (copyright etc) with that. I am sure one of the guys will Happily accept a Commission to model a commercial or Multifamily Unit for the School's use though. M.
  10. Thanks Kelly , I have the Time Out set to 5 mins and assumed if I'm on the phone or something it will Time Out the Plan I'm working on , but are you saying the Time Out only works if Chief is Idle not a Particular Plan? Come to think of it I am not sure I have seen the "Plan is idle message" more than once or twice I do open multiple plans all the time especially if working with the different options for a Client , but I also drop in here and over at HomeTalk too at breaks and am constantly opening Other's Plans to check them out and offer help if I can. M. edit: I have reset messages to see if I disabled the idle warning edit 2: the reset did work for the warning message , 5mins it barely enough time to read a new post here so no wonder I suppressed it.
  11. not sure Jere , you don't see this? you aren't using the mobile theme are you? very bottom of page on the LH side
  12. Or use the Cabinets DBX and the Appliance Tab/section to insert it
  13. @Russ , not sure how you posted your image above but it is locked and I can't view it full size. @Mickey2 Curt isn't using the Staircase's railing , ...turn them all off and then using the Railing Tool to draw you Own , then select it and check the box "follow stairs" to stop it falling to the floor.....it must also be placed fully on the staircase for this to work properly or it will "fall" down too. M.
  14. "When you do a save as, you don't lose the time recorded previous to the save. this can become very confusing if your plan has multiple forked saves. Thanks Bill , the information on the "Forked Saves" is what I assumed , thanks for the confirmation , good to know I'm not as slow as the Time Tracker is making Out , working out the Hours now will be a mess for sure though.... And, unless you are disciplined, you don't have any record of the time you spent on research, beam calcs, meetings, phone calls, etc." that is the part I need to be more conscious of , time for a new phone and a good Timer APP I guess I am just finding out now, about how the .csv export works ( or doesn't ) especially with my limited knowledge of Excel , the Total doesn't even export out , nor does it print, if you print from the Time Tracker ....how is that useful ? M.
  15. Thanks Jeff , I had not thought to export and compare each one for overlaps that should work , I assume there will/must be overlaps. at this point. M.
  16. My client asked for another View of the Master Suite Area from my Current Project , no problem I thought , opened plan , setup the Full Cam at Ensuite Door , and to my surprise when the view opened the bath deck (custom countertop) , the wall Tile (wall material regions) and a few Other items like mirrors and shelving were all missing. So back to plan view and they are there and selectable, check display options ...all on ... so opened the Bathdeck DBX thinking maybe it "fallen" to the floor or something only to find it was at 125" elevation ....huh??? so took a view outside to see if it was actually on the Roof... no ...but I then remembered , this Projected started as a small one Bathroom reno , but they asked me to do the downstairs one as well and now the Kitchen and make it Open Plan too , so I "inserted a Floor" to put the Ensuite on the second Floor as it should be. (learnt my lesson now even on small jobs use proper Floor in CA) The 1st floor Plan View doesn't show any on the "missing items" but they are there in 3D view (Below) but unfortunately the WMR's have "snapped" to the living Room Walls so they are not a copy/paste/hold position back upstairs, the closet shelves are outside the window too that is likely my fault for moving walls though... The Vanity countertop moved upstairs but the Custom one used for the bath deck didn't , I guess that's in how CA "sees" each item? I made Mirror and put them on (in front of) the Closet Doors for views , they are in the Living Room, the Closet shelves are outside , so not sure what I did there ...possibly resize the plan with more accurate measurements? Don't think this messed up plan is worth posting , or that there is an easy fix just thought I'd put this out there as a Warning about the Insert Floor Option for Others , as it seems it's hit and miss on what gets moved properly. I thought this was a better option that Copy/paste/hold everything one floor up originally but maybe not. M.
  17. Hi , I am curious if Others think the Time Tracker is accurate ? and perhaps it's just my understanding of how it works , as I don't usually use it , but I knew I had put in some hours on my current project as there were 8 options done for the Master Suite alone, but even I don't think it is right , after opening each Option Plan plus the Original As Built ,it seems I have done 119 hrs on this project in the last 3 weeks which I can't believe , since that would be 3 full weeks at 40hrs each. Most of the Time I do an As Built from my Measure drawings or Existing Plans, do a Save As with a Proposed Drawing , and continue to do Save As Plans with each Option , until the Client is happy, then do Save As with a Final Plan. The Manual says each Plan has it's own Timer but I have to wonder now , if when I do a Save As , it is bringing the hours forward with it from the Original Plan it was save as'd from too ? (which means my hours are totally screwed up on this project if so.) Thanks for any advice /ideas on this.... M.
  18. That's what has me confused and why I asked about this , I usually work in imperial , but occasionally in Metric here , and I am pretty sure I started with a Metric Template as I cannot see me going through and changing all the DBX's ,Defaults etc to metric (mm) but maybe I did ? I don't remember what Template I used ie ProfileM.plan or perhaps an older metric Plan of my own ... (or someone else's?) However each time I send to Layout the Default scale is in Imperial and I have to change it to Metric , So I am wondering if somehow I started sending to the Imperial Template Layout and am now stuck with it.... I had planned on making this final Layout into my new Metric Layout Template but it won't allow it due to the miss matched "System" according to the Error message. M.
  19. Nice Tip Michael , thx , had not thought of doing that either.... M.
  20. It's still there Bernie, I just checked , I posted in the Tips Forum a few months back about it , but Google can get in too. If its stuff other could use best to copy and paste it back over here though as no one seems to know exactly when it will disappear totally. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/5510-old-forum-is-still-there-if-you-need-it/ Use the search bar up on the very top right to get in
  21. Thx Rich. https://3dlibrary.rubysketch.com/
  22. On or In ? what version of the software are you using ? ( you haven't filled in your Profile's Sig.)
  23. Not sure I have seen that asked for before as usually the Drawer Box size is calculated depending on the Hardware (slide) used ,so is left to the cabinet Company to determine on their Shop Drawings. M.
  24. Joey will confirm but I know not everything you do Auto Updates currently , requiring an update but I think CAD Work and TEXT are supposed to M.
