  1. Sorry Scott , I minimised the Browser this morning and was busy Drawing up an As-Built from a measure I did Thurs. , so I had something ready for a Client Meeting today , so didn't see this till now... In this particular case I had the thought , that the Balcony setting maybe causing the issue , those I have seen the Issue Like Larry showed on numerous occasions but can't duplicate right now and HC didn't post his plan in the OP to try. M.
  2. Hmmm the Other Front Door on the LH Side.... the one with the retaining wall, is where it happened to me... but I've never been able to figure out a particular step or set of things to make it happen. The retaining wall is slightly imbedded into the "Porch" and the front (only) stairs are too , so I slide the RT Wall out 2-3 inches and pulled it back and just looked at your Front stair and So maybe it is a View issue ? I am in Full Overview Perspective Nope same in Full Camera The other quirks maybe a X2 to X7 issue? if I change the Balcony to a Porch It still frames , rather than give me a 4" slab (same for a Court) so change it to a Deck and let it frame, then back to a Porch and I get 4" slab and framing ...just can't win.. Mac vs PC maybe?
  3. The Nominal or "call" sizes ( vs actual) are equivalent to 25mm = 1" 2x4 is 50 x 100 , 2x6 is 50 x 150 , 2x8 is 50 x 200 , 2x10 is 50 x 250 , 2x12 is 50 x 300 ie: Where the standard specifies members by call size those sizes shall be read as the actual minimum dried sizes given below: Call sizes (mm) 25 40 50 75 100 150 200 250 300 Actual minimum dried size (mm) 19 35 45 70 90 140 190 240 290 (Call size is also referred to as "nominal" size).
  4. most recently in Dickerchen's Plan ,that you also looked at here : https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/6337-why-doesnt-framing-display-in-plan-view/#entry56451 The front porch is labeled a balcony and I changed it to porch and deck etc. after pulling the retaining wall back to see what was wrong with it and the wall behind it. That Plan was done in X2 originally but I see it frequently as I help over on HT and see all sorts of weird happenings
  5. Thanks Allan , same as Imperial just in mm . this is the simple Chart I use for conversions Metric-Imperial Timber Conversion.pdf
  6. I thought PDF's didn't pixelate if zoomed ? however if they were "printed" at 72dpi (the Webpage standard) rather than 600DPI , I could see them not looking good if zoomed in on...
  7. The HD Website sends Users seeking (paid) help over here actually Dave..... PM me if you need help Bernie. M.
  8. I see this happen sometimes when I change a Deck to a Porch or Slab Room (a Def. with a Conc. Floor slab) and usually just change the exterior wall finish to Concrete to match.... and put it down to another CA "quirk"
  9. it's called the Delete Key isn't it?
  10. Am surprised by that , I too have an old Copy , which I am sure I paid way more than $50 for way back when , though like Dennis I never had the time to really learn it. So you'd say $50 well spent P. even if you have Chief ? I usually use Draftsight Free to look at ACAD stuff if needed. http://www.imsidesign.com/Products/DesignCAD/DesignCAD
  11. Ok , I guess you changed the garage Stemwall height at some point ? I did a simple test like Larry, and the two stemwalls were always equal in Height, which is why I asked if I understood the OP correctly....
  12. Here are a couple of Doc's I made form Info found on the Forums , including Curt's and a Good Pitch to Degree Converter Sheet I forgot I had incase other can use them . M. +/-

Apparently you are just drawing too accurately Dennis
  14. I am not quite sure what you are asking , do you want the foundation the same as the house , or do you want fascia's lines too match ? Etc. much easier with at least a few picks.... or the plan... both even. M.
  15. Thx Michael ,good tip , I thought I was stuck with grey too , I guess it's there somewhere in the 1400 page manual but who would think " selection line" was the right setting for that ? Strange it isn't in with the other Dim. Settings.
  16. I used too but no longer, I find it slow when trying to change materials ,and waiting for it to load in the DBX , even if the library is open on another monitor already. Switching my library preview to Vector helped some but not enough. Not sure if it is my old CPU , i7_950 or CA as my GTX970 should handle any graphics needs. M.
  17. Steven is right looks like you mixed up your Contour Spacing and your Skirt Thickness......
  18. Your Front door doesn't have any casings turned on via the Door's DBX (dialog Box) so far of the Windows I checked none have there Interior Casing turned on in the DBX either and the Casing is set to 0" wide ( ie none), also make the Exterior Window Casing at least 1" wide for it to Show properly at the Top I found the Exterior doors need a 3" casing too or they don't cover their "gap" either... turning off interior casing on Garage doors causes you to lose the Frame sometime and there is also a graphics glitch with z-fighting if you do that so leave them on but set them small so you don't really see them , eg 1/4x1/4 . Look like a good Plan to send to Tech Support as Dermot ( CA/HD Programmer) asked above , especially if it wasn't you that set it this way. ( the original 2014 and 2016 plans) *** EDIT: updated above and added Plan File Andrew's Plan_MH.plan
  19. Andrew you need to close the Plan before you Zip or post it, it's empty , you don't actually need to Zip it, if it is under 25mb actually.
  20. The Walls not showing Framing on 0 are all marked as "show Upper" already ,only setting it to Default made the Framing show , no idea why but that maybe a X2 plan in X7 thing. However last night I forgot to rebuilt the framing after doing the settings above ( did you ****?) and I now have framing in the Bad wall , once I fixed the Wall (set default bottom and top height) as you had played with that on that wall and the one on the front of that same room. ( look in 3D at your foundation under the terrain , it's messed up. I also moved the Retaining wall slightly away from your front Porch and it now works properly and fixed the stair location and type , so looks good now. YOur roof planes need fixing too , you can see the gutters don't line up around the home , eg right above the retaining wall.
  21. Hi Robert ....actually it's not My Program , I am just an End User like you...... for someone to look in X2 you are likely to need to send the Plan to Tech/Customer Support , as most are running X7 now , perhaps X6 if no SSA. http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/#contact there is online Chat too on the page above And you can also start a TS Case from your Digital Locker Mick.
  22. Is there a Padawan Avatar Obi Wan ? ..... ( Or do you prefer Obi1 ?) ........ think I need to Update mine
  23. Ohhhh great thx Allan. Pitch is in Degrees I usually use this Site for conversions and Round off to nearest full Degree eg 10/12 is 39.81 so 40°deg. http://www.blocklayer.com/PitchAngle.aspx ***edit found my other Cheat Sheet to convert Roof Pitches , see post below. Hopefully the Oz and Kiwi Architects will agree once they are online
