  1. It would be easier if I wasn't drawing from Napkins and had ALL the information the Gable at the back was just a click of a button...... back to Hip the roof returns need to be extended the same amount as the overhang to get that look ( assuming I got it right) of the gable sitting above the skirt roof. And the front roof plane (above front door) needs the same baseline/pitch as the skirt roof , to meddle them together
  2. You may also have to use the Edit All Roof Planes Tool too, for Roof Planes you have already Built , it usually warns you if this is needed though.
  3. If its turned on under Snap Options , not sure if it works in this case though , shortcut key is ] if you still have OOB settings for hotkeys
  4. Terry there is something VERY weird with your Template , I gave up trying to figure it out... Instead I opened the default Profile.Plan and imported your Defaults into it , Set the Printer Sheet to 24x36 and it appears to show the sheet correctly now.... Normally you send to Layout at whatever Scale you what , then when you Print the Layout you then Print at 1:1 as it is already at scale in the Layout .....I usually Print to PDF 1st as a Check..... Here is your new Template , give it a try ,Download it, then open it and save it as a Template immediately with YOUR wanted template name in the Templates Folder and say yes when it asks if you want to use it as your default for all new plans. Then you will also have the downloaded file as a backup too , incase off screw-ups in the future M. Template Plan_fixedMH.plan
  5. Done the Way mentioned above ..... with Gable and no trusses 1512_MH2.plan
  6. I just did it that way for a quick visual in CA without spending too much time , and didn't worry about framing etc. I would do it all at 8' and then build the roof with a 12" Above Plate Setting in the Build roof DBX , turn off Auto Roofs , raise the 3 rooms as needed to 9' , then put in the Trusses ( or not , that's what we pay them for ). Still not sure what the real fix is down the back , the step up at the corner or just have the Rear wall as a Gable so the fascia's don't meet , as far as CA is concerned anyway , Glenn can probably figure it out in CA .... but I may have to stick to the Real World...as it's easier ITRW to get stuff done . M.
  7. Post the plan in your Thread of HT and people will help if they can , me included. Things have to be done differently with HD Titles with no Manual roof Planes and most of the Guys here are not familiar with that, as they have the Full CA and they haven't ever had to do it all "Auto", it why I suggested you try over there. M.
  8. Nice Tip Rich. , I guess Point to Point move would make it fairly easy to Align ?
  9. ask them to export the data as a file compatible with HD Pro and do it yourself perhaps .... I say this as I am not sure a Terrain created in CA will be 100% workable in Pro , the Version of CA would also have to match your version of HD Pro to be compatible, filling in your Forum Sig. and letting people know who you are and what you are using is probably a good idea too.
  10. Terry your Drawing sheet is 384' wide by 288' ( yes feet) , that's some big printer you got ..... your current Print scale is 1/4" to 4' I can however easily move the sheet without moving the Point , so not sure what you are doing there Just delete the basement, 1st ,2nd and 3rd Floors for now , then you know it's all gone and you just have your defaults setup and everything will align perfectly when rebuilt don't worry that the drawing sheets don't line up with the model at this point , that doesn't effect the model , 00 is always 00 no matter where the "sheet" is. something like this Terry's Template Plan.plan
  11. zip the plan or make a copy and strip out stuff we don't need to see like cabinets and furniture , the Terrain etc.
  12. Well its not just 1512 which has fascia heights all the same, now it looks like you have 2 gables in the front and a skirt Roof as well Unless they want 3 design options ? I assumed the other sketch was wrong somehow ....builder in a rush.... and it works if you are okay with a roof height change in the back corner.
  13. Yes I misunderstood too , I thought the garage floor was to be 12" lower ... need to have another Play.... I actually cheated , as I thought D. only wanted a visual , there is a mix of 8' and 9' stud walls but by using heeled Trusses they all "look" like 9' once the siding is on. Though I don't think it has sloped ceilings like in Gel.'s pic either. the new sketch seems to show an extra roof plane over the front door though ....so no longer 5 planes again. I am not sure why the builder just isn't giving them 9' stud throughout ....much nicer "feel" esp. on a smaller Home like this and way easier to build.
  14. in the bad old days , yes ran into that one....several times as SSD's died , thankfully today said Co. allows online deactivating from any computer ..
  15. Well what do you know it works I'll tell ya how tomorrow ........ ok ok ... now not sure if 100% correct but...... Build whole house (floor 1) at 9'1" , turn off Auto roof , and then lower the ceiling in the Rooms you want 8'1" ( and Don't ever turn Auto Roof Build On again , Use manual roofs if needed.) 1512_MH.plan Hopefully what you need , I gone for now... night Mick
  16. I must be missing something , perhaps a fresh look tomorrow if you post the plan file but you have 4 roof planes over the main house and 2 over the garage bumpout , which one are you going to eliminate to make it 5?
  17. I think Sherry is right , Your model can't be right if there is supposed to be 5 roof planes , there would have to be a gable at the back or something to eliminate one of the planes you have there now.... or you miscounted and meant 6 Your Plan must have been open in CA when you zipped it , as the zip file is empty. you don't need to zip it if the plan is smaller than 25mb nowadays btw.. If you scanned and PDF'd those instructions they would be easier for people to see/read too. And the Join Roof Planes Tool wont fix that corner for you ? M.
  18. Thanks Larry , so it's not really a Zfighting issue then ....something to do with Shadows by what Brad_M said ... didn't realise he was from CA either, most of them have the Green CA Avatar. Like you I didn't think you could be "too far away" by clicking on the Camera Icon....but.....what do I know They should add this info to the Flickering Textures KB article if that's the case.... someone else if bound to run into it too. Mick.
  19. H.O.D / P.M Head of Design/Project Manager Or Head of Design and Build or DAMN BUSY
  20. Schooled again ..... here I was thinking the qbasic I used on a Commadore64 in the 80's could of done it better I am not sure why CA doesn't auto add a zero to all the single digit numbers then, sort list sort correctly, but maybe it can't ? M.
  21. Hmmm pretty sure it ain't 1980 still ...ASCII ??? time to update some Code from CA-0. . Perhaps beta testers found it but wasn't a priority to fix? I'm working on a small single level place and there are 70 walls already. Good thing I know a good man who knows Ruby thanks again
  22. Did you find a solution Larry? Guess I missed something.....
  23. Wow... thanks Joe ...really appreciate that. It was a pita looking for say wall 7 and having to scroll all the way down . Not sure WTH CA can't do it properly in the 1st place ....lazy programming... but THX. Mick.
  24. One other question on the Walls Details , int the project Broswer is there a way to make the List sort numerically ...properly instead of 1,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,2,20,21,22,23,24,25,26 etc etc
  25. HD posted on HT too so I directed him to Glenn's post , which makes sense, I was thinking they meant an extra floor.
