  1. Check your Hot Keys then cos Alt+Z is the default unless changed in x10 but I use the Default Tool Icon, I put on the Toolbar next to the Dropdown list usually and it says Alt+Z if I hover over it.....
  2. I thought old versions could be opened up to V10.b ? but perhaps there was another change before that? Lew @lbuttery may know and remember otherwise I would email CS and ask for their advice. Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in please, especially with the Software Version, and of course a Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that. If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum or are perhaps on the CA Mobile WebSite.
  3. More or Less but some aren't having the best of luck for it , (like me) with the screen Whiting Out or Blacking out , https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/16912-lets-pbr/?do=findComment&comment=143178 if that happens try my settings in this Post...they can be set in the Camera Defaults too before shooting the Camera View. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/16912-lets-pbr/?do=findComment&comment=142683
  4. Do you backup to One Drive, Google Drive or Dropbox ?, or have them on a Flash Drive or External HD Drive? Or have a Image or recent Clone of your Old Laptop's HardDrive? ( I can recommend Macrium Reflect for scheduled Imaging to an external HDD) Chief does not automatically backup files to the "cloud" if that's what you are hoping for.... Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in please, especially with the Software Version, and of course a Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that. 5. Click on the Default Tool to release it or Use Alt+Z ......... I think Chris has changed his default Hotkey for it to D , which you could do too of course..... M.
  6. I assume you are being Serious ? cos I think everyone thinks you are joking..... It's just another Camera Technique Type Option on the Full Camera Dropdown ( at the bottom) after you shoot a View, works well for some not so much for Others....
  7. Not that I noticed in X9 or X10, (Ceilings do though) but a 0" layer is easy enough to add , it will also give you the Sqft for the Paint that way. Doing it on the Interior side seems to work okay , Exteriors seem to have Issues sometimes for whatever reason. I use this method too it's easy to change the Texture for the Drywall either that way or through the Wall Definition where it usually says "no texture" , assuming all the Drywall has the same paint, but you can "paint" individual walls if needed or change the Material for those Walls, the Paint Can tool can have weird Effects at times. 8. Having upgraded to the Full release Today and working on a Bathroom Reno , I am once again getting White Outs and BlackOuts etc despite the bathroom having 2 2'x4' Skylights in it and a placed wall Sconce so I don't get the Chief Default Light..... , sometimes moving the camera fixes it , other times toggling "use enhanced lighting" on/off does and sometimes I need to re-shot the Camera and start again. toggling Enhanced lighting Off sometimes get me the Backside of the Moon ...ie Pitch Black. Takes alot of messing around , it would almost be faster to RayTrace by the time I get a reasonable View. Not sure if it is a Small Room Issue ? as I am having more luck in the Grandview Plan , with a wide View of the Kitchen, though Views are taking longer to Open, so I am guessing PBR RCSS are single threaded as I only seem to see 1 Core activate during view generation. M.
  9. Chief Updated the Libraries earlier this morning and there is a report it has fixed the Issue , so do a Catalog Update....
  10. Its an old Bug Problem , I call the 12" Bug, Eric and I have known about for years that the Developer has never Fixed , not even in Chief. More info in this thread over on HomeTalk https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/1197-help-with-roof/?do=findComment&comment=6850
  11. Yes that is one of the reports I saw , as mentioned. M.
  12. Did you check the Door's DBX and the Plan View Options setting? I've seen a few reports where "Automatic" causes it to be On, showing the "Top Line" , though I don't think I've seen that particular issue before.... M.
  13. Okay I hope you got it sorted out ? All you should need to do, to use this method is do all your Drawing and Designing at 1/16" and leave everything at Default , (don't change any Dim individually) and then before a Client Presentation (or Design Work is Done) simply go into the Dim.Defaults, or Annotation Set Defaults and change it to 1/1 , which should change all "default" existing Dims (of that Annotation Set) , and if needed change it back to 1/16 when you get back to the Office for example from a Presentation. This simple switch works for me , but would require work perhaps in Existing Plans you already changed Dims individually in.
  14. that's great , 390.77 is okay on my Desktop as is 382.05 , you did download the Notebook 390.77 Driver did you? Most but not all Laptops use the Mobile Chip which has a Different Driver than the Desktop one. ***Also make sure to disable Driver update too in Win10 otherwise Microsoft may try to give you the latest ones automatically again. M.
  15. Did you post the Wrong Plan ? cos it doesn't have a Roof at all when I do a Full Overview.... nothing above the brick in the Plan posted, unlike your pics above. Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in please, especially with the Software Version, and of course a Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that. If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum or are perhaps on the CA Mobile WebSite.
  16. Didn't you just post the fix? ie re-check the "use default" box There is no Global way AFAIK as each Dim. is set by the Annotation Set used at the Time the Dim was made ...if you only used 1/4" scale Annotations then perhaps you only need to change one ? but it doesn't sound like that's what you did......If you changed the Dims individually throughout the Project as you saw them then you have a small issue ( or maybe a large one?) put them all back on "Default" and only change the 1/1 in the Defaults so it is then changed from 1/4" to 1/1 when you switch the Default when needed. Hopefully I understand what you did.... and want to do here...I assume this is an issue after your Other Thread on this? M.
  17. autosave only works if you save the file with a name.... was this a new plan....not yet saved by chance? many of us have been bitten by that one. M.
  18. Michael posted a Video on that I saw yesterday here:
  19. If the .plan File is over 25mb then zip the File while the Plan is CLOSED in Chief and upload the zipfile. 20. Graham is right you'll probably need to Force the install using the "Have disk" method via Device Manager , as alot of Driver Installers check to see if there is a Newer version already Installed and quit if there is. If you downloaded the MCU .cab file, it is done the same way ...here is a quick tut. on that too : https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/66346-install-cab-file-windows-10-a.html#post873775
  21. I put my PID for my Surface 3 into the MUC Search box and found my Surface ones.... they are upto date though...... at version 20.19.15.4424 ie I used as much of the full PID as would return a search result pci\ven_8086&dev_22B0&subsys_00091414 wise move to do a full Image backup though...
  22. Microsoft Catalog calls them 610 Drivers but I think they are for the broader 600 Series ...Kabylake......you can look at the details on the MCU page and see if your PID matches those that can use it.... click on the blue name on the left and then the Package Details tab.... https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=Intel+hd
  23. I use GRK Structural Screws usually , just easier to get , but also use the Simpson if a raise head isn't desired ,,,eg on exterior wok/landscape ties etc. ....Larger head than those ones you linked and are a 1 to 1 match for Lagbolts in most situations and take way less to install --- time and skill wise.. https://www.grkfasteners.com/products/structural/rss similar to https://www.strongtie.com/strongdrive_exteriorwoodscrews/sdws-db_screw/p/strong-drive-sdws-timber-screw M
  24. I'd rather see the 1st step sitting on the Landing myself but in this case it looks like the Headroom is a limiting factor, another way to do it is to make the 1st Riser FULL depth of the plumb line and use Construction Screws or Bolts thru the 2x8s and Ply , I am not a great Fan of Hangers on Stringers due to the wood splitting , so tend to use 3/4" ply top and bottom to hang stairs.
  25. You could also move the 2x8's , 1 1/2" to the Right ( in the Pic) and notch the stringer over the edge of the Floor ( makes installing easier too ) and provide a 2x block inside the 1st step too to provide extra Bearing. M.
