  1. I think the Teaser only related to the ML and selecting Items there ie Find in Plan which takes you back to plan View with the item ( and layer on) selected or any one of them selected....not much help if its a floor joist etc , even then it is not with two windows open AFAIK. M.
  2. I think we have all wished for this but I have always assumed there is a reason they can't do it easily (programming) otherwise it would already be happening as it would be a no-brainer otherwise.... M.
  3. Yes , One off them should look at the house before Demo and determine what if anything is Savable, as mentioned above in some Jurisdictions Foundations cannot be reused... M.
  4. Oops sorry P. for some reason I thought you were in San Diego , but maybe that is just Scott?
  5. Thanks for getting back with more info Joe M.
  6. Hi Joe , the Screen is not an Issue I just updated the"material" for Rene's window, Steve was wondering how to use the Window with NO Jambs or Casing , ie with just drywall returns but it appears that the parametric Jamb setting is ignored in this case , as Rene Built the window with a full Depth one.... so the Question was if Rene's Window had no Jamb in the Symbol would CA's Parametric one work as Usual? Mick.
  7. That is the Cabinet Schedule in the OP Pics not the Fixtures Schedule which controls the Appliances and other Interior Fixtures (eg Bathroom fixtures) M.
  8. I hadn't looked earlier, but it does look like you made the Jamb in your Model, so the Parametric one is being ignored , ie turning it on/off or adjusting inset has no effect. Not sure if it is as simple as not including a Jamb in the Window Symbol and letting Chief supply it's parametric one or not , as I have not built any Custom Windows. Joe would be able to answer that for you I am sure.... M.
  9. It appears, not to be that old (10-20yrs) so the City/County should hopefully have Full Records/Plans from the Original Build, the Owner may need to pull those for you though unless you have something stating you are the Owners' Agent. (as called here) I would definitely talk to the City/County before Demo, as here a Demo would require a Permit but more importantly any new Codes may effect the size and height of the new house, which may effect the build of a completely new Structure but not the structure of a Remodel ,(grandfathered). What constitutes a New build and what is a Remodel may affect plans, eg the exteriors walls maybe needed for a "remodel" , not just the foundation... something to look into anyway. M.
  10. I can't claim any credit for this Window it is all Rene's doing , I simply changed the Screen Material to what I thought looked better in different views. Rene will have the Original plan , so perhaps he can make a slightly different version for the Drywall Return situation. Mick.
  11. I hope you weren't driving and typing a reply ! CA has a bad Habit of "remembering" Room designations, ie delete a wall and the room is gone , but redraw a Wall and it instantly becomes the Room type again instead of resetting to Unspecified, ( easily done if your Proposed Design started as a Save As of the As Built Plan) so something to Check during remodels, as it can effect a number of things. It should rarely ever be that a wall needs dragging up or down in 3D or Elevation , it is usually a sign that something is "amiss" with the Plan, not that CA gets it right 100% of the time especially on complicated multi-storey houses. M.
  12. You don't have a proper Brick Foundation built, you have just dragged the 1st floors walls down to the Terrain , which is never a good idea.... But the main issue seems to be you are trying to build a deck off a Porch.....ie the Florida Room uses the Porch designation.....try changing it to a Court for example and the Deck builds, there maybe a better Room designation to use though?
  13. Try the Fill Window Icon and the All On Layerset too
  14. Why are you moving it? Like CS , I have now found if I place a single one on the beam center it Auto-cuts the Joists either side of the beam, but if you rely on the Beam's own (built-in) Bearing line it joins them in the center as you experienced.
  15. The Ctrl Key should disable Snapping temporarily......I haven't tried it in this particular situation though. Posting the Plan so Others can Play with your particular situation is always best, just make sure the Plan is not open in Chief when you attach it. Make it Clear you are Using X7.... *** CS/Perry's double Bearing Line does work in X10 , otherwise they auto cut on the center line of the beam even if not bearing on top of it. M.
  16. The Logitech and Mac OS maybe fighting or over-riding each other....make sure to use the latest Version of the Logitech Software , it has been updated for Mojave. *** looks like you may have found the issue though why it would change on it own I don't know.... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/20294-optimize-scrolling-zoom-in-layout-views/?do=findComment&comment=165312
  17. did you install the Logitech Mac Software? Options or Control Center should support your Mouse. in Windows my Logitech stuff crawls until I install as there is no acceleration applied etc. let me know which Logitech Mouse if you can't find the download.... Mick.
  18. Yes Auto Roof rebuild..... but to lock individual Roof Planes you need to put them on a new "Roof Planes-Locked" Layer for example and then lock it...... the down side is that you can no longer then use the Auto Join Tool as you can't select locked layers. M.
  19. Not that I am aware of , so I do what Glen does and don't use the TP as the Plot M.
  20. I don't want to argue about it , but look again, he added a whole 2nd level (3rd floor in your plan) that your plan does not have.....ie. you have 0,1,A he has 0,1,2,A Mine BTW has 0,1,2,3,A , as it is Built using Chief's normal paradigms.... as I noted above, but you can do it any number of ways, but you may run into unexpected issues , especially if you try to use A for anything but what Chief expects...as no Rooms can be created on A , so you can't use Open to below if desired, no flooring can seen etc etc. Is my plan perfect , probably not but here you go...... Ames Barn_MHD.plan
  21. It's not about YOUR Room Label.....but Chief uses Levels like A for certain things. So it does matter, Chief won't allow Rooms on A level by default....Chief doesn't think of A as a Floor "level" hence no auto stairs, as it needs a Level (floor) above to do that. If you read his Post again you will see he ADDED another Floor level as I suggested too... Check Chief Architect X10 Reference Manual Page 722 ...The Attic Floor If you wish to create an attic loft, bonus room, or storage area in your plan, you will need do so on a numbered floor level.
  22. seems to be working fine here ,straight up looks like this for me when I tab it.....
  23. I think you have your Floor levels mixed up as I see the Foundation Level Named Basement and there is no 2nd or 3rd Floor in the Plan. If the Concrete Block Level is in fact above Ground then Insert a Floor Below it so you have a Foundation Level. (Level 0 is always Foundation) The 3rd level in the Plan is A (Attic) which is why the StairTool won't go up there , if you want a 3rd Floor with Rooms in the Attic make an Extra Floor with a 0" Ceiling height, and check ignore Top Level when you rebuild the Roof, turn off Auto Roofs and the reset the Ceiling Height to your desired height. this is the Technique: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00772/building-a-cape-cod-roof-by-adjusting-ceiling-heights.html
  24. Did you place these appliances on the ground before inserting them into the Cabinet? if so doing that will change the Symbols Origins , change the Y axis to 0" and it should work as expected. Chief expects you to insert these into a Cabinet so the y Origin is Usually in the 22-24" range to allow for this..... You will need to add a 15" Cabinet where the Compactor is so that the Countertop builds over the Compactor too...I just copied the one to the left and pushed it in here :
  25. I am not so sure ... Same User, same Plan with weird Issues, some think is a Bug.... Bad/Corrupt Template perhaps?
