  1. Uncheck or check as needed the extrude box in the dbx.....
  2. Chief measures the Framing by default usually.... but you can define that a number of ways.... M
  3. You maybe right, but i guess nobody has sent it in to tech Support , so it hasn't been fixed..... I usually have it set to Black these days , so hadn't really Noticed. M.
  4. Copying the two CA .ini files from one Computer to the Other may do it...no guarantees.... you may end up with some dead links in the recent list etc though. C:\Users\ YOUR USERNAME \AppData\Roaming\Chief Architect Inc you can also copy the CA Data Folder to the new Computer too.....
  5. Are you sure you haven't change that in your Default ( or your) Template somehow? as I think the Default Template under Build Roof>Materials uses Dark as the Default Material for the Skylight Frame.
  6. Yes , you can set all dimensions to Surfaces instead of the Wall's Main Layer (framing)..... (How I work alot for Remodels) Generally HD Product questions are best asked over on Hometalk...same sign in and User name, etc. They had a special Sale price on till Jan.7 , not sure if they extended it? but you may still get it if you phone them? can't hurt to ask.... https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/
  7. This would be my guess too without the Plan File.....probably the 2 corners are joined differently?
  8. Both are default Macros you can use , to see them all for any object , use a text leader Line and the built in Macro %objectproperties% and the text box will fill with all auto recognise macros you can use in any text or rich text box , just make sure you use the % sign at each end of the named macro eg ^^^^^^^^^^
  9. I try not to do winders at all if possible since the inner edge has to be a minimum 6" wide by Code, and like Eric curved stairs are something I never see , and I didn't realise that was what you were referring to earlier, normally I just redraw them if needed. If I don't want them to join I normally merge the top tread of one and the bottom tread of the next so the treads overlap in 3D then they don't snap together. M.
  10. Don't think I knew that but then I don't normally connect Stairs to Stairs..... and can't think of too many occasions when I would.... M.
  11. I think your question is likely deeper than I thought initially , that's why I didn't think I understood it 100%, or the exact situation, as it sounded too simple , especially for you not to figure it out... thinking about it more now I am guessing you mean 2 or 3 sections connected in a straight line , though I can not think of a time I'd do that if it was a straight run ( well 1 situation actually) normally it would be a single run , but once they join in a straight line it isn't easy to break them again , which is another of those small little areas where CA is a little too smart for it's (our) own good as I mentioned above, ie CA "thinks" it should all be one flight even though you may not want that.... CA does some crazy stuff to stay connected no matter what
  12. I don't remember a 8x11 but I am pretty sure there is one called Tabloid Kitchen and Bath ( Ansi B or 11x17 size) and there are a few of the Sample Plans especially for Kitchen and Baths that also have 11x17 Layouts you can easily make/edit into your own too. M.
  13. Not sure if I understand the question? just moving the (sub) section will break it.....
  14. Perry (Drawzilla) and Scott Hall (dshall) are both in Cali. , perhaps one of them has time to help you..... @DRAWZILLA @dshall I'm not in Cali. (CDN) but if you need basic help to finish the model etc , I'd also be happy to do a few Hours for you... Mick.
  15. is there a ceiling in that entry? I see a Window right at ceiling height.... post plan perhaps.....
  16. Joe Carrick has a few packages available if you are not familar with Ruby ( and don't want to learn....)
  17. did you try adding Ceiling finish and Highest Ceiling to the Marks to include ? it maybe a reach issue too , ie it doesn't see that ceiling if say reach is only 25% , try 100% as a test perhaps then dial it down as needed. M.
  18. That's one of those little areas where CA is a little too smart for it's (our) own good, it automatically makes two subsections the same width if they are connected, we would need the ability in the DBX to lock the Width of subsections to get around it. M.
  19. You can turn off Callouts and Specify the Label instead and use the Schedule and width x height macros..... do it in your Defaults>Window and it will be used for ALL Windows from then on. Do it in your Template plan if it's something you want to always have too.
  20. Are you talking about the Schedule Callouts perhaps ? enable it in the Schedule Options>Labels>Use Callout.....pick a shape and text size M.
  21. Carl, you can download the File from your Digital Locker or from the Program Archives if you are just trying to re-install it? Scroll to the very bottom for X1 https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/updates/oldupdates.html
  22. did you give the CAD boxes a fill perhaps? The icon should be on the Edit ToolBar unless you turn something off perhaps?
  23. you can set the default in Preferences>Architectural to treat them singularly/independently or not .... not sure if that is the issue or not ..... but normally draw one set , draw the 2nd set at right angles to it then click in the corner between the two to get the Auto landing... M. these may help..... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/394/creating-winder-stairs.html?playlist=89 https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/393/building-u-shaped-winder-stairs.html?playlist=89
  24. Check this thread Alan , Rotate is a PITA to Work in..... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/20736-odd-angle-drawingmodeling/?do=findComment&comment=168728
  25. Good Advice.... This is not that uncommon around Dormers etc especially on steep Roofs you can also try selecting the Wall ( red ) and dragging the wall polyline up into the Corner....Pink.....
