  1. you might be able to Export the Symbol and then re-import it as a Window to your User library.... post a test plan with a short wall and the Door and I'll have a try if you can't get it.... M.
  2. I guess you tried the Wall Edit Tool ..... So next guess would be that the Outer layer in your Wall def. is not the Stucco? ie paint maybe..... Chief only Wraps the very outer layer in the wall def whether that is drywall or stucco or siding etc. M.
  3. No just the Door ...not the Muntins ...cos it is a custom door/window, I don't think it will "take" the Muntins , I think it needs to be a standard CA Door or Window for that.....but hopefully I am wrong , but I'd try a small solid instead to get it done. *** Ahhh I see it wasn't you now , same door though I think..... M
  4. Not quite sure if you mean the Glass or Glazing Type eg DBL Glazed or Single Glazed? In the Particular Window ...... Change the Material...ie apply the new Glass type .... OR In the Particular Window ..... Change the Glazing Type on the Energy Values Tab under Assembly. ( can also adjust the insulation factor here) This can also be done in the Plan Defaults>Window if you want them all Changed too. M.
  5. Didn't we help make that Custom Shower Door in another thread? I ask cos I think Custom Muntions only works with Chief's default Doors and Windows ? hopefully some will confirm or dispel that for me.... M.
  6. The Attic level is a special level in CA , so best to build a 3rd floor and either "ignore the 3rd level" for the Roof or set the height to Floor Height plus a plate , then turn off the Auto Roof and set the Room height back to 8' for a flat Ceiling. The KB has several Tutorials on this , either about a CapeCod Roof or a 1 1/2 storey as it is Called there.... except you are 2 1/2 storey's if you will... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00772/building-a-cape-cod-roof-by-adjusting-ceiling-heights.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00653/building-a-cape-cod-roof-that-bears-on-the-1st-floor-walls.html Lots of good Info in the KB (FAQ).... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/database.html
  7. Sorry to be the bearer of Bad News Larry.....but Today's Redo ( after saving , mine is set to hourly ) will go so much quicker now time for another Coffee here too
  8. You can use the Exterior Room Moulding Line for adding that WaterTable Board/Trim or even do a double trim like you seem below
  9. Unfortunately you had a lovely Practice Day this is one Chief has been asked to fix but hasn't to date, as we have all been caught at least once. Chief does not Autosave , un-named Files , so there is no Archive safety net made.....really on opening a New Plan , you should Save it ((Ctrl-S)) with any name....if you don't have one to start with, and then do a Save As , later as details fall into place. M
  10. Don't forget to update you Signature Specs
  11. The ML is "dumb" and I suspect all main wall layers are framing and all interior Layers are seen as WallBoard even if your wall def. says it is Brick and plaster for example in the ML. But In the ML you should be able to move a Item by changing it's ID ( there is a dropdown in each item) to Masonry. ( IDs are in Material list in Preferences for reference) Much especially back in X6 I think is hardcoded and names etc can't be changed , eg all Wood is Fir ....even if you Spec Spruce. So you will likely need to play with Categories etc ( in Preference IIRC in X6 , I don't have it installed to check, sorry) and you maybe able to add things , eg Sand and Cement via the Accessories too in the ML too. M.
  12. X6 Still ? --- well now I am just gonna be guessing , see below Yes add it to the price Column in the ML ( chief provides no pricing as that id "local" info and then "Update to the Master List for future use... PS for Brick and Block check the Totals as back then I don't think CA calculated what was needed but used sqft (sq/m only) try a 5mx5m square house and check number against std. methods. and if needed use the Extra Column to add a % or Count to add to the Total. ML are SNAPSHOTS only at the given time they are made...you need to delete and Open again... (Update to Master List Often) Without the plan not sure .....Ceiling? , furring for Drywall? floor? Change the Material, ( make copy to User Library and then Edit it) not in the ML list... IF i understand you correctly. Specify new Material in Default WallType. Update the Master List Not quite sure with no Plan but it sounds like the Brick is assigned as the Interior Layer in the Wall Def. ( CA would expect Drywall or Wallboard there) but you maybe can change the Category (ID) to Masonry Hope the Head is ok ... I've been there in regards to the ML too ... maybe by X12 or 14 it will work how we all want it too , they are working on it.... Mick.
  13. Just Ctrl , doesn't need Shift .....works for me..... It can be turned off but in most cases one instance is Best.
  14. no, but beside it yes.....using toolbar config. you can't add icons to Chief's pre-made Toolbars ( or dropdowns)
  15. That is good news Joe...... he is going to use a Quality 1TB NVME right? .....like the Samsung 970? , did you make it Clear you know how to check what;s installed now You tend to notice the Speed at 1st but after a week or too it becomes "normal" and you want even more did you ask him to look into the Video Output Issue too?
  16. Let Chief rename them and all should be well I think.... I am no Macro Master either , but in X10 and more so in X11 you can now use Macros inside macros and the Capital letter breaks them , so it tries to "fix" them for you ..... Eric,Joe, BrownTiger or Michael would have to elaborate further on that....
  17. My guess is that you now just have two Coronado entries under Manufacturer.....it is likely the library was updated to reflect currently available Materials , so if you plan to really use that particular Stone I'd check on availability with Coronado. M.
  18. ... well lets hope so cos the distinction of SATA vs NVME Drives is a good one to know... Good luck with your TS guy.....
  19. And Joe I think you have Ruined EGerace Thread
  20. No, other way around ... A SSD may not be NVME (PCIe)......many are SATA (1 2 or 3) and only 1/4 the Speed of a PCIe NVME drive...... ie 550mb vs 3100mb/s
  21. WD is SATA III too , even in the link you posted and yes to the rest..... As far as HDD go the Firecuda at 7200 RPM isn't a bad one
  22. that Suggest that the Samsung Driver for the 860 is not installed...at least to me... *** See above.....not being a NVME drive means it doesn't have a Samsung Driver I don't think.... Samsung Magician will also tell you exactly what is installed just don't use it to update the Firmware or use it's other gimmicks... https://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/product/consumer/860evo/
  23. Both but m2 SATA III not PCIe (NVME) , lappy must have a Combo m2 port which has M and B keys in the Slot. *** appears as if it is SATA III and in 2.5" mSATA and M@ Formats https://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/product/consumer/860evo/
  24. The model number suggest SATA III not NVME And I don't see any Samsung Storage Controllers? but maybe the Samsung Driver is not installed for the 860 and it is Using the Microsoft one.... https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820250091 The EVO 860 is also SATA III AFAIK and comes in m2 SATA or 2.5" SATA format
  25. Make him put this one in and Clone your 1TB Drive to it and make it the Boot Drive..... ( 1TB to be Storage) https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA6ZP8PC7365 with the Credit for the empty WD 500GB it shouldn't cost much if anything if you factor in his embarrassment... https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820250091
