  1. Pictures are Always Good ! .... M.
  2. No... the 20" really means nada at this point.... So if I have it right the Terrain should be at 39 1/2 " below the Subfloor ( deck 36" off terrain + 3 1/2" upto house) 1.) uncheck automatic height in the Terrain Perimeter DBX and set that 1st manually to 39 1/2" 2.) set Deck "Room" Floor to - 3 1/2" in the Room DBX 3.) pull a Section Camera through the Deck/Door and see if Mick got his Math right....
  3. Personally I don't think so , fixing that area in the Pic above , seems to have broken the Room above now..... not sure this plan is worth sending back
  4. It is a known bug and tech Support is aware, Railings won't go upto a sloping Ceiling , I ran into this issue last year in this Thread.....
  5. CA builds the Terrain auto at about -20 from the subfloor height of 0" so if you set 35"...... 55" sounds about right to the Terrain, but did you want the Deck 3' above the House Floor ? Normally I set the Deck "Room" Floor to -2 or -4 " , so there is a slight step up into the house..... need more info to advise more
  6. Hi Allan , wow ...I see why people doing Modern Design Homes need CA to lift their game.... all the different ceiling and Floor heights are a Brain Teaser and alot of walls seem confused , so the default top and bottom heights don't work etc , so the fix seems to be to pull them down /up in elevation or 3D, the Railings can be fixed by turning Railing off in the Wall DBX , the bottom of the Wall pulled down and then railing turned back on . But the further I go the more I seem to break
  7. No Offence and no I learnt that Lesson long ago, with a plan I forgot to name (save) immediately after Opening a New Plan..... I regularly hit the Save Icon but either that isn't working properly in X11 or my Mouse Clicks are not always seen , and to my surprise setting my AutoSave to 5 minutes and also a Hourly Archive, it seems the Layout File was not effected by these settings or something else is going on.....I would not be surprised if the crash and disappearance of X11 was caused by an attempt to autosave/archive, so I ended up with nothing. It is a real pain in the A** for find over 100 UndoPlan Files from yesterday in the undo Folder but CA won't open any of them due to a "corrupt file header" Luckily my autobackup of the Data Folder did occur to an external HDD yesterday afternoon, so I didn't lose everything but the Layout is complaining about lost Layers and annotations etc and its look like I need to relink all 46 pages.... ( where is the Re-link All Button? ...still checking....) M.
  8. Okay I deleted all framing in the plan and rebuilt and it has mostly fixed itself.....some wall coverings missing here and there eg on the edge of the Floor and the hole in the Roof above hot-tub. The Hole (strip) in the Office Wall I haven't goto yet...
  9. Part of the issue appears to be that you haven't built the Framing.... tried building just the 3rd Floor Flor framing but have joists popping everywhere... I think you maybe using CA outside the bounds of the User Agreement ? :) not sure it is handling all the "levels" well
  10. did you save a camera? trying to find the issue....
  11. Oh I see ... I got lucky.... Mother wouldn't allow me to be "the Third" in line thankfully ... may My Grandfather and Father not hold that thought against me
  12. You linked to the Correct file Alan? it says it was uploaded by Charles Butler ? M.
  13. Ok thx.....I was wondering why the rebuild may not have worked for the OP and thought I'd missed something.... M.
  14. Well the thread title certainly had me laughing , so thanks , I needed someone to lighten the day , X11 just crashed and closed with no warnings or a chance to save anything here, so it looks like I have lost hours of work in Layout and Plan Touchups.... Many people find Manual Dormers are the way to go..... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/category/234/dormers.html M.
  15. Rebuilding the Foundation didn't work for you Michael? , I just tried it again on a fresh download and it seems to work for me? Ceiling below and Stem wall is fixed by the rebuild..., maybe I am missing something? (make sure to hang the floor inside the foundation walls on rebuild Tracer) M
  16. Thanks Joe, I do appreciate you posting these Macro Tips for those of us who aren't Macro Gurus.... Because it was For Moldings in this case I wanted to round up to the Next Ft , and actually added 1 ft extra too , to make sure I allow for some Waste , 1-2ft extra per Room is nothing really , couple of length per house as I see it , but the Marco is pretty easy to change to Suit each person's needs, or just round it like you suggested, or even to .round(0) and just add your own 10% (?) waste at Final Takeoff instead. I am leaning to what Dermot said , since it appears you Full Camera works.......in Plan View what and where does the Overview Camera show pointing at? Posting the Plan may help and be quicker too .....less of the 20 questions game.... M.
  18. It looks like you may have inadvertently turned on Wall Through Lines in the ALDO ? M.
  19. Thanks for the Tips Joe , I was able to make it work , but also rounded it up (.ceil) so it didn't show 9 decimal places ! , so here it is if someone else wants to try it.... Perimeter-Baseboard_add to Room Molding Polyline label.json
  20. Are you talking about the Pattern for Vector View ? that's fairly easy but for Standard View you need a nice square on Image with Grout lines to convert to a Material. It maybe possible in the Dal Tile , Cactus Stone or other Tile Manufacturer Library to find one you can work with....
  21. Thanks for Reporting back Allan , unfortunately it appears you have some work to do, to keep the Plan Checker Happy. ( and Client?)
  22. It's one of the pre-made Macros you can insert into the Label under Object Specific.
  23. Are you Selling Cabinets or Making them or Both? ... Do you use the European CAD Software for manufacture(cut-lists)/ordering? cos AFAIK Chief is not capable of doing that (only produces a Schedule of Cabinets...no Cutlist for the Shop) as since it doesn't allow Plugins , no one has been able to add a module for that either. That is something I'd have thought Chief would of fixed long ago , as they are heavily involved with NKBA etc and it's another potential Market for them. For Bulk Material Imports, On the 3D menu Item ( strange place to me,should be under Tools>Materials ) there are 3 Options under Materials, the middle one Convert Textures to Materials , lets you point to a Folder anywhere on your computer and CA will take any .jpg, .png etc Files normally used to make Materials and convert any it finds and automatically place a Folder in the User Library , named per the Folder they were found in .....as seen below in My Library you can see the Kitchen Starter Package I import a few days ago this way. This should work great , if for example you have a Folder of Finishes used from the Manufacturer. Like Mark, I use CA Cabinets for any of the Work I do ( I am not a KD or ID btw) and CA's cabinets are All "parametric" and have special features as such, but I am not sure that an Imported Symbol, (eg a .skp or 3ds) even if Imported as a Cabinet will act like a Chief Cabinet , within the Plan, layout Schedules etc. Mark may have more info on that aspect , as I don't import Cabinets or much else except in a pinch and can't find a model anywhere else than say the Trimble 3D Warehouse. Mick.
  24. I was wondering why Chief hadn't made an Auto Attic wall , it could be that is all it is...
