  1. Same one in X10 just checked , and you are right neither look like SS Metal Roof to me....
  2. I reported my findings above to HQ and was told that libraries should not duplicate , as the agreement with Manufacturers means we should only ever have the latest Library installed with current Products. In fact they could not reproduce the duplicate issue, and after showing them pics of my Library with the duplicates, I was told that I must have changed the Name for the .calbiz file when I downloaded it,(or afterwards) for example putting spaces in the name or adding a more descriptive/full name, eg. FederalBrace vs Federal Brace.calibz or Emser vs Emser Tile.calibz At this point , I think the name changing my explain it , at least in my case, as I find alot of the time the File Names are not very descriptive and not being in the US , not all of the Names mean anything to me Brand wise like Emser. This name change technique can actually be helpful in the case of items disappearing like the Certainteed Fiber Cement Siding Folder, as it worked for me to install both the X10 and X11 Library , I renamed the X10 library file with _X10 at the end and it installed into a different Certainteed Folder but unfortunately no obvious Version No# in the label for easy identification , so I have made a request for them to allow old libraries to be installed into a subfolder of the Current version, so we can access them too if needed. I'll let you know if I hear more... Mick.
  3. Change the Material defined in the Wall definition.... And do you Forum signature please.... ie many answers need the software version in use...... you may even be on the wrong forum if using a HD Title and not CA Premier.
  4. I think you mean making a symbol right ? from your plan you take a 3D view , then Tools>Convert to Symbol>Electrical+advanced Options...mounts to ceiling etc. Here is your Lamp back as a Symbol so you can check it out (Plan below) ...... and a better explanation in this Tutorial on how to do it.... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00809/converting-an-object-into-a-symbol.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00761/modeling-custom-3d-objects.html this is the technique to subtract one solid from another to : https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00796/beveling-the-top-of-a-concrete-column.html MHD_Sommerton.plan M.
  5. Well I hope he is paying the SSA for you at least then Bob .......
  6. Not sure if you figured it out but it sounds more or less like a Split Level House situation , so this Tutorial may help you.... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00932/creating-a-split-level-structure.html M.
  7. Try zipping the file 1st , when it's not open in CA or it wont zip.... I think it is only on the roof portion if using a sloped ceiling, ( ie flat ceiling unchecked) not a Ceiling Plane...Eric will need to confirm from his pic....mine ceiling plane DWall is in the Wallboard section above in the pic....or I did it wrong ***Try clicking on the ID in the ML and reassign to the Wallboard section...........
  8. There are a number of ways to do different sizes formats , including the simple included macros like %width% and %height% under the Insert >M icon
  9. without the Plan we are just guessing really , seems to work here.....but you can change the Room's Ceiling Drywall to 3/4" and see if the ML has it listed..... PS if you have Attic Walls eg on Gable ends , they will have drywall on them too, so best to make a copy of the existing exterior walltype and remove the Drywall from it and then assign it to the Attic walls. M.
  10. It looks like you framed the Porch with 2x10 instead of 2x6 rafters ? the notch is the soffit cutout....
  11. Spring Break? Or Perhaps he is having to update the Marcos for X11 and doesn't want any pressure from you fellas , JJ , but doesn't sound like Joe to me either...
  12. I'd put that down to the internet...doesn't sound like Joe to me .....nor is it good business I tagged them so at some point they should both drop in....
  13. Joe Carrick and Michael (AlaskanSon) , both have Libraries available for purchase , Joe has a Post here listing some of his library..... let me see if I can find it... Found some of Joes Posts , not sure if Michael has a similar one? https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/12673-joes-macros-complete-list/#comment-109086 https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/6595-joes-macro-a-month-subscription-service/#comment-59212 @JoeCarrick @Alaskan_Son
  14. Nice Video / find , thanks Larry ...... usually Dims will snap at the Angle Snaps , but with a Plot Plan and coming off the Corner of a house that doesn't help, in fact it would hinder, so great tip. The 3 extension Snaps only "show" it seems IF you get an Extension Anchor to show 1st ( small blue circle) like at a mid point or endpoint ( and Quadrant snap) , so I guess that is why we don't "see" them with Dimension Lines. M.
  15. I am thinking that might be a bit too much realism https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php?r=site/detail/1119
  16. AFAIK , yes, we download the Core Libraries after installing CA , and they too are keep updated via the Update command, as I have seen that happen on a reinstall of X11 a few weeks ago. however it seems from my experience only the files installed are checked for how recent they are, ie the update command did not install the newer (X11) Sliding Barn door library and Hardware folder inside it. For the User Library , right clicking and choosing export and save it in a safe place that is backed up regularly or go old school and burn it to a DVD along with ALL the downloaded X11 Libraries. this can take a while depending on the size of the library and whether it finds any missing Textures or not. This is true , just found that out yesterday backing up my User Library , the X11 Certainteed Library no longer has the Fiber Cement Folder , so I had to reinstall the X10 library as well , so I had all the included textures, for some Materials I had made for a particular Job, using the Certainteed Files. It does appear the X11 Library is now smarter than it used to be and doesn't make two folders if you accidentally install a library twice or like me install a X10 and X11 File , everything goes in 1 Folder now. ** see below** Not sure you can tell what is new and old if you do that though? , might be best to install older versions first , then the X11 file so it overwrites any older Files already in the Folder. *** Just ran a test and the X11 Certainteed Library deleted the X10 one and replaced it , so I had to reinstall the x10 library , save the Fiber Cement Siding Folder to my User Library and then update to X11 again. This is actually not a choice...I just discovered the Updated Command ,deleted the 10 library and installed the X11 Library again...minus the Fiber Cement Folder again. So it would seem you will indeed get the new version of all installed folder now, whether you want them or not, if you use the Update Command. PS even Libraries I downloaded this weekend were just updated , so the 3D Library doesn't appear to have the latest versions of all files. M.
  17. It's doable but a bit of a pain , you need to play with each window's casings so they meet at the corner of the Framing.... I think at one point the Andersen Library may of had a window like that ? They are available for sure..... Here is another thread from Jan. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/21082-bay-window-problems/?do=findComment&comment=171500
  18. I assume you mean the Lites ? > Click over each window and hit TAB to access the Window DBX>Lites
  19. Glad to hear it worked for you ??? (Time to do your Forum signature methinks ) But all Credit goes to Chopsaw .........and a thanks to Michael for the Video.... Mick.
  20. Actually it does Allan , not sure what else I "broke" in the process of installing my Store Front Wall but it doesn't look to bad, just have to remember to build the framing and show it in all views. I wasn't sure which part was supposed to have a floor/ceiling or not , some stuff is labelled open below but appears to not be etc... Plan is below so you can play with the new wall type.... MHD_Wickman.zip
  21. It's pretty easy to snap Point to Point Dims around a copy / or over the Plot Plan........with both Formats showing M.
  22. I don't think so if I understand what you are wanting to do...... but what you could do perhaps is use the secondary dimension Format below the line and display the Imperial number above, and turn primary or secondary on and off as needed..... for dimensions , not sure if that is possible with lines? need to look.... M.
  23. I forgot you asked about the Decimal foot issue too , that should work I think as normally you only display line length in Plot Plans so it would be in decimal feet anyway..... Dimensions should stay as they are in ft-in etc I think. M.
  24. If the Line is drawn in the Plot Plan Anno it will use the Plot Plan Text Style........ so when you turn the length on it should already be using the Plan Plan Text Style you could change it in any Anno to PP Text Style but you'd need to put the line on a New CAD Layer, as if you changed the CAD, Default Layer to PP Text Style any CAd line would change their Label too...
  25. Change the Line's Layer to CAD,Plot PLAN ..............I'd have thought it was there already if you are in the Plot Plan Anno though?
