  1. Not sure I wrapped my head around what you and Eric were doing with the Exterior "treatment or why the casing were so wide but I had already made the Sill (stool) Symbol after following a thread earlier this year I think it was , so I didn't put too much time into your method to be honest. Have a play with this , it will snap to the wall by the window if you let it , I then use the Center Tool to center it on the Window. That's about it if using the default window Bottom Height of 32" as the symbol is set to insert at 32 3/4 to it's top ie sitting on the framing. As noted in the pic above you need to open it for different size windows and set the width as desired and it's height if needed too. MHD_Window Stool.calibz M.
  2. Hi Chop, sorry missed this post earlier , actually the symbol (millwork) I made doesn't need to use the treatment option from the exterior and is fairly fast to place but still not automatic. I just made it to look like a normal Window Stool available locally with no apron or small molding under it as it not needed due to the Lip on the Stool, and then made a new CAD block for the symbol so it looks right in 2D too. I can post the plan or symbol if you want too look but here are a couple of pics which should give the gist.
  3. This method does work to a Point , however I cannot get the Sill to show properly in 2D Plan view or in a 3D camera as the Sill "shimmers" , z-fighting with the Drywall it appears but perhaps I don't have all the needed Settings ? so I have made a Symbol instead but that maybe not needed ?
  4. As of Oct. 3D Warehouse now requires a login , supposedly to help "personalise" the experience for you.....( ie advertising is my guess) The Free Version is now Web Based so may not be as useful/powerful as the old Free Sketchup Make which you can probably still find online somewhere. Not sure what the Pro version does after the free 30 Day Trail if you don't buy it...... M.
  5. On Windows it is labelled Frame , on Doors it is called Jamb in CA. However I am not sure CA can do what you want easily , hence this thread. ( and others) there maybe a Suggestion about this too in that Forum, encouraging CA to add an easy option for this , so add you vote to it too. M.
  6. The Hover App does not appear to have made a "flat" bottom on the Model ( can be seen in an elevation view ) or it is tilted? thus only the center of the symbol is currently aligned with the Top of the Slab in the addition after setting the height as Eric pointed out. M.
  7. Bit of a guessing game without the Plan...... did you try rebuilding the roof Framing after raising it up the two inches? Needed not sure? Chief needs a Ceiling plane and a Roof plane, to build trusses, so maybe a cross section will let you see what is going on
  8. If you are changing the PATTERN colours and Gridlines , you will only see those changes in VECTOR View where Patterns are used . the Standard+PBR Camera use Textures (images) so you need to make a new material ( eg pic from Manufacturer) which includes the grout lines to change those in 3D cameras. M.
  9. I don't use it a lot either TBH but in another recent thread it was also suggested to switch it to Inside Layer if you measure As-Builts on the interior of the house eg measure Room sizes , drywall to drywall. I'd have to try it but it maybe an idea to switch it back after the main Structure/Shell is built. M.
  10. This is because the Resize about Option ( general wall defaults) is set to Main layer Outside , set it to Outside layer and the DBX measurement will be the same as the measurements displayed (in this plan)
  11. It is (check the DBX) but the wall is showing the FRAMING length in the DBX, not including the Plywood and Siding that you Dimension String is snapped too..... If you measured the Wall at 36'6" then use the Dimension String to change it , the Wall DBX will then tell you the real FRAMING length. M
  12. Try making the basement Walls with your own "Furred Wall" Walltype Definition instead of using Chief's "furred Wall" Option on the Structure Tab .....seems to work ....
  13. There were reports of similar last year , it was being caused by the 2D Plants apparently.... see this thread for more info....
  14. Change the Glass Material to Glass-Standard ............... it is typically using Glass -Tempered which has the Green tinge in some camera views. vs
  15. You can also use a material Region and in a pinch use a base cabinet set to 3/4" depth and slide the Range against it. Sorry not sure about the Room label Text Wrap.....
  16. Put this info in you Signature as the answers to your questions sometimes depend on the version used..... Copy the Walltype ( under define button) and give it a slightly different name and then change the material on one side as needed. M.
  17. Deleting one Wall will break the Room definition and yes , in 3D the Floor will disappear, it may not mean all the other walls are "gone" though. M.
  18. or only Add a Blank Floor ( don't derive from 1st floor ) and then draw you own walls on the building that is 2 story using the Reference view to snap too. M.
  19. The Recent File List is in the .ini File under the heading [Recent%20file%20list] , typically near the bottom. If the information I ( or Glen) posted above doesn't help find the File , I have no idea why sorry. M.
  20. Editing the INI File or playing with it is not supported by Chief so you do this at your own Risk.......... To find the location of the .ini files goto Preferences>General>Folders> click the button under All Program Paths... and find the location of the Preferences Folder in the list. (3rd to last on a PC and is usually C:\Users\{Your-USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\Chief Architect Inc. on a Windows Computer) M.
  21. I'll assume you are aware you will need to change the activation of Chief as you switch computers. The Preferences ( enviroment? ) are saved in the Chief .ini file, there will be more than one if you have more than 1 version of Chief Installed, this previous thread has the location etc of the File you'll need to copy to each computer.... this won't "sync" them , you would need to do it occasionally your again. M.
  22. Hopefully someone will prove me wrong but I don't think it can be done Auto , and AFAIK Chief Dims will snap to the Subfascia (framing) not the outside of the True Fascia. ie they will snap to the back of the (true) Fascia board. Fascias are not depicted in Framing Plans but I guess you could turn off the Eave and Gable Fascia and just have sub-fascias on to get the right snaps. M.
  23. Kitchen Accessories 3 has some food items but no Pizza , just Pie , Cheese , Apples, Bananas etc. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php?r=site/detail/1022
  24. It's the Renamed Qty. Column Chop so it's likely using the %automatic_count% macro so not very useful here as we don't have access to it AFAIK. David..... it's better to not use QTY and use a renamed Code or Comment Column ( old method ) to Airflow ( see pic) or create your Own Custom Fields for Airflow2 (in this case) or CFM if that is what the Column is for , then in the Schedule add the New CFM or Airflow2 Columns ( see pics) , from the available list, to the Columns to include.
