Same around here but usually only 1 1/2" . That is how it was setup in the Drawing originally when I checked the Defaults (3" F.Finish), it had been changed on a per Room Basis as well on the Structure Tab, which caused the issue apparently, every thing seemed fine after I switched it back to defaults. M.

Agreed or delete it if not needed. ( this is a new weirdness for me at least ) Maybe just on my system but you also have a missing material for your Floor Finish ...which is set to 2x6 plank @ 0" thick.

did you move your Documents Folder over the Weekend?, usually the File is in the Chief Data Folder unless you moved it to Dropbox or ??? , here : \Documents\Chief Architect Premier X11 Data\Database Libraries\User_Library.calib If the file size is very small then Chief has recreated it for some reason , so you may want to Call Support tomorrow before trying anything on your Own. The Location in Preferences wasn't accidentally miss directed was it ? ... Check on the General> Folders Tab.... Did you check your Recycle Bin ? in case it got deleted somehow? Hopefully you have a recent System backup or Image if needed........... M.

I recently used a 6" concrete foundation Wall-type with pool tile on 1 side to make a "Room" which I then split into 3-4 Areas with different heights , eg for the deep end, Spa Pool Area and 6" deep sunbathing area. The rest is Polyline Solids (with Holes as needed) except the stairs.

This is AFAIK one of the (bad) side effects of rotating a Plan and from my testing the Room Label ignores the Angle Setting in the Plan defaults and so you have to change them manually, but the Select Similar tools should make it fairly simple to Rotate them all at once. Use of arrow keys and some other settings used to be effected too but I have not needed to try it in X11 to see if that is still the case. M.

May be drawing it at the Current default Ceiling height for the Plan , not the Wall it is over ? --- just use Transform Replicate to move it up from 8'-9' (?) to 13'..... use a CS Camera to determine the exact distance you want to move it in the Z Delta under Transform Replicate. Then use Reflect about to copy and position the 2nd roof Plane on the other side of the Gable. Yes , so don't do that unless the house is fully built auto and turning Auto Build back on won't Change it. M.

Can one retain all manually built roof framing and build new?
Kbird1 replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
Not sure if this would work as they are still in the Plan and likely to get rebuilt too assuming Autobuild is on or you use Edit All Roof planes but have you tried to using the Retain Framing check box in the effected Roof Planes and switching the Square/plumb setting? I think it works but not sure the end result will be what you want as even if it does work every rafter will need it's end cut square too, just rotating the subfascia/fascia will not be enough , and that will require the Framing to be rebuilt. selecting the effected roof planes and using Ctrl-X to CUT them out of the Plan and then rebuilding those Roof planes and using Ctrl-Alt-V to paste the Originals back into the same position might work ? Or copy them into a New Plan , Rebuild them there and bring some or all of it back to the main Plan perhaps? If it is just a few Roof Planes I guess you could do much of it manually if needed but perhaps i don't quite understand what you are trying to do exactly?. Try all suggestions out in a copy of your Plan 1st of course. -
as CS mentioned it looks like you have assigned the wrong macro name to the Label it is not called 025roomarea but roomArea025 ...... is it set to evaluate correctly? M.
-
I think Michael was trying to give you a hint...... , you need to round the result of the multiplication (of the Room area) so bracket that 1st (owner.internal_area*0.0250).round(2)

Yes the plan 3-4 posts above...... I opened the window schedule detail and used“Fill Window” icon to get it to show. then save the plan and it should be there the next time you open it without the Fill Window Icon
-
Center the View after you open it or use the Fill Window Icon , it is there........... M
-
Have you looked into using the 3D Viewer Files instead ? they are uploaded to your Chief account and you can then share a link with your Client who can open it with any Web Browser , without the need to Transfer multi GB Video files. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/10147/sharing-3d-viewer-files-and-viewing-in-a-web-browser.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/10146/preparing-a-plan-for-the-3d-viewer.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/10165/how-to-open-a-3d-viewer-file.html

Always best to post the Plan so we aren't playing 20 questions. Make sure it is closed in Chief before attaching or zipping if over 25mb. Can't quite tell from your posts if this box is checked ? and of course Sill Plates are Displayed in the CS Camera......

I Have reported the above issues to Tech. Support and they have passed my Notes and example Plan to the Developers , so maybe in X12 , since I read X11 is no longer getting Updates. M.

You can get close with Chief's Defaults but the z-fighting issue on the Sill makes 3D images look bad from certain angles as CA does not lower the Drywall even if you lower the Rough opening when you change the offset for the Window Frame. The Bigger problem is that CA does not "inset" the Sill in 2D, so the 1x6 is stuck on the wall surface, so Plan views look really bad... and FYI the Casing width controls the apron width even when Interior Casings are turned OFF.

Why doesn't my material list show other lumber components?
Kbird1 replied to 22trobbins's topic in General Q & A
I mentioned it mostly as in X11 the Icon changed and no longer looks like the other Display Options Icons, but like a lot of stuff in CA, it is usually available thru the Icon or Menu methods. M. -
In a lot of areas I think this is required by Code on interior access Doors from the garage as the Door must Air seal against fumes (Co2) etc. M.

@Alaskan_Son (Michael) and @Joe_Carrick both do Marcos for $$...... try message either of them to see if it's possible.... M.
-
Not sure if it's your case but I see some cameras "jump" when saved and I have to realign them in the window. M.

This should be on the Toolbar too ( red 1,2,3) ........add it back if not -
Not sure I wrapped my head around what you and Eric were doing with the Exterior "treatment or why the casing were so wide but I had already made the Sill (stool) Symbol after following a thread earlier this year I think it was , so I didn't put too much time into your method to be honest. Have a play with this , it will snap to the wall by the window if you let it , I then use the Center Tool to center it on the Window. That's about it if using the default window Bottom Height of 32" as the symbol is set to insert at 32 3/4 to it's top ie sitting on the framing. As noted in the pic above you need to open it for different size windows and set the width as desired and it's height if needed too. MHD_Window Stool.calibz M.

Hi Chop, sorry missed this post earlier , actually the symbol (millwork) I made doesn't need to use the treatment option from the exterior and is fairly fast to place but still not automatic. I just made it to look like a normal Window Stool available locally with no apron or small molding under it as it not needed due to the Lip on the Stool, and then made a new CAD block for the symbol so it looks right in 2D too. I can post the plan or symbol if you want too look but here are a couple of pics which should give the gist.
-
This method does work to a Point , however I cannot get the Sill to show properly in 2D Plan view or in a 3D camera as the Sill "shimmers" , z-fighting with the Drywall it appears but perhaps I don't have all the needed Settings ? so I have made a Symbol instead but that maybe not needed ?

As of Oct. 3D Warehouse now requires a login , supposedly to help "personalise" the experience for you.....( ie advertising is my guess) The Free Version is now Web Based so may not be as useful/powerful as the old Free Sketchup Make which you can probably still find online somewhere. Not sure what the Pro version does after the free 30 Day Trail if you don't buy it...... M.

On Windows it is labelled Frame , on Doors it is called Jamb in CA. However I am not sure CA can do what you want easily , hence this thread. ( and others) there maybe a Suggestion about this too in that Forum, encouraging CA to add an easy option for this , so add you vote to it too. M.
