  1. Everything in Chief is Drawn at 1:1 , it is only scaled when sent to Layout. M.
  2. It is simply a Cheat Sheet for VSD sizes , inspired by a hand written Cheat Sheet posted by Curt ( @CJSpud ) a few years ago in a Thread about Energy Heel Trusses , which I just expanded on, now I have some (minor) Excel skills. M.
  3. That's not how I meant it but sure....... M.
  4. I finally made a PDF for those VSD's I thought you might like too , Check the Tips and Techniques Forum for the PDF. Mick.
  5. The Attachment at the Bottom is a PDF of the Vertical Structure Depths for Common Imperial Lumber sizes and LVL / TJI sizes at different Roof Pitches which I made recently with Forum Member "Chopsaw's" help ( Thanks - 'cos Trig. ain't my thing ! ). ( VSD is VRD in older versions of Chief ) VSD as defined in the Reference Manual : The Vertical Structure Depth is defined by measuring a plumb line across the roof plane structure. The degree of pitch affects the Vertical rafter width. The greater the pitch, the greater the vertical structure depth. ( *** See 3rd pic below or the 3rd page of the PDF for Clarification ) Below are also some pics of the 3 Page PDF for Reference : PDF FILE : CHIEF ARCH. VERTICAL STRUCTURE DEPTH (VSD) CHART FOR IMPERIAL LUMBER SIZES.pdf Mick.
  6. Above is quicker/best but Hitting Delete on the Keyboard , while absolutely nothing else is selected will also remove them one by one.....( keep hitting delete) , and I'd definitely uncheck the option in Preferences so you never get them automatically.... if you don't want them....... M.
  7. Do you have all Chief's Bonus Libraries? https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php?r=site/library&reset=true
  8. The Transfer of license is done by Chief Sales , the Seller has to fill in a Transfer Form and pay a fee for the Transfer. If you have X5 and it's serial no# etc you could check with Sales and see if there is an Issue , they will be open again on Thurs. I believe. M.
  9. Items like Beams and Posts ,don't seem to need the rotation, it's like they "know" the grain direction, so it is sometimes a bit tricky trying to fool the "auto" rotation Chief seems to do on some framing objects. M.
  10. You can save CA Plants to your User Library and then change the Fill Color and even the Shape of the CAD Block, (5-6 choices) however I don't think it will do what you'd like.
  11. I think if you search the Forum you will find a few posts about this but I do remember one is https://xfrog.com/ M.
  12. I think that is actually Chief's "Ridge" , so you could perhaps not build it ( 0"x 0") and just place a Ceiling Beam manually, the rest is as you've been doing / Gene mentioned I think.
  13. If you are signed up for the monthly newsletter , they also announce new libraries there usually.... and sometimes in the Announcements Forum. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/company/newsletters/ https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/24484-downloadable-catalogs/
  14. If you want to see the Camera but not the Focal point or FOV indicators (the lines) you can also just turn them off in the Camera's DBX on the Plan Display Tab. M.
  15. Some info in the Rental FAQ https://www.chiefarchitect.com/software-rental/
  16. Manufacturer and Bonus Libraries must be downloaded individually from the Online 3D library. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php?r=site/library&reset=true If your base cabinets don't have countertops , it likely means they are turned off ( set to 0" thicK) in the base cabinet defaults for some reason. M.

  18. If it is the Core Catalog only then you could delete the Core Library files and reinstall the Core Library..... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-02899/manually-installing-core-catalogs-for-chief-architect-premier.html M.
  19. I think you'll find the Answers are : Yes Yes No (copy and paste only) No (copy and paste only) No... not a step by step but there are a few short Tutorials and Videos though https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/category/59/materials-list.html or https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/playlists/104/24-materials-lists.html Be aware too that the ML is not dynamic , it does NOT update as you build the Model and is basically a snapshot in time. *Several Members do Cost Estimating like Basketball Man , see the Offering Forum , I think he also teaches how to do it... M.
  20. I did used to do that actually but now I have multiple Screens I prefer (need?) them on the bottom , but like Rob have found after some time that Chief seems to start ignoring the Taskbar at some point and I have to cycle the min/max all the time, so I just don't go max anymore.... M.
  21. Perhaps Rip the left hand roof ( what's left of it) off and resheet in with main plane X in pic instead.....
  22. Seems to have been an issue for a couple of Chief versions now ( or Win10 + Chief?) so I find it best not to maximise the screen and just drag it to "almost" full screen ie just a hair above the taskbar , as I also find the auto-hide taskbar a PITA due to it popping up every time I go down to the Chief Edit Toolbar M.
  23. I would assume he is referring to using Primary Format ( above the line) and Secondary Format ( below the line) for his dimension Defaults. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00055/displaying-metric-and-imperial-units-on-a-single-dimension-line.html M.
  24. Chopsaw is correct the trick is not to Drop it , just click and drag out whatever size you need as that Default is hard-coded.
