  1. Should maybe call Tech support in the morning , but if you haven't backed it up , then the usual location in listed in Preferences>Folders>User Library Folder> the KEEP section , will have it's last location....... *** and for anyone else who reads this, a reminder go to your Library and Export the User Catalog regularly to a safe place like an Ext. Hard drive just in case. KB Article on how to.... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00091/backing-up-and-restoring-library-content.html
  2. Old version , but IF anyone knows it will be DJP as he supports all versions as part of his business..... @DavidJPotter
  3. Still works the best ..... some of the others rely on Windows file associations to be correct and if you have multiple versions of Chief installed it may install into the wrong version with a double click. Drag and drop seems to lose the textures sometimes but the Library Menu > Import just works..... always in my experience. Don't know any easy way to clean up your User Library, sorry. In X12 in preferences there is now a button to "re-associate X12" with the File extensions like .plan, .layout ( ruined by installing sketchup) , .calibz , and .calib file types.
  4. I think Eric maybe right.... I still run Office 2007 , and it was in my Font folder, personally I've been using Swis721 (Included below too), which is very similar to Arial for a while for the same reasons. (Swis721 is similar to Mac's Helvetica Font which is how I came across it ) FONTS : Gothic+Swis721-Fonts.zip Mick.
  5. as always --- post the plan --- or at least an example of the issue you see ....... looks like to me anyway , those aren't NKBA Dims ? maybe 1/4" auto Elevation Dims ? M.
  6. Possible in Chief ..... but not in Home Designer AFAIK .....not sure they can even make Symbols ? but maybe that changed? M.
  7. Guess I need to do some testing then ....I've seen a number of posts in the past that said they didn't but I may have assumed not in a Schedule as to mean also not in the ML?. Considering what P-Solids get used for , having them all in with the Exterior "Trim" probably isn't a good thing either though.... M.
  8. These are the Others you might run into some day....
  9. I don't believe P-Solids get added to material lists or Schedules but have the advantage of being able to be added to the Library for future use , unlike Framing Members , but if the ML is important then using framing eg a Rafter is the way to go and maybe why Eric used that method. M.
  10. For those without Geforce Experience ( not needed) there is a new Driver release Today........ but as usual if it ain't broke.... Nvidia has released new Studio Drivers today ( 8-17-2020) as well ..............Version 452.06 make sure you know whether you need Standard or the newer DCH Driver type for your computer or notebook... https://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us# M.
  11. It not ODD ( it is actually ) ....... it's a total PITA run into that one myself..... M.
  12. All true and I agree ... I wasn't arguing about that at all. M.
  13. I see what you mean now .....it should of been Count/100*1.10 to get 10% Her Total is correct but that is WITH the Extra added, not the actual "Extra" only. M.
  14. You are free to do so. Send it in to tech support. That's the only way these things get addressed. there is nothing wrong with it.....BT just read it wrong... * in the Video at 3:30, She Multiplies X 1.10 ( or 10%) She doesn't add 110%
  15. That is true off course , personally I don't reccomend the Paint Can Tool for Changing Wall Materials , better to Copy the Wall Definition and change the Siding ( or whatever) that way , so when the Client inevitably changes their mind you can just Change the Wall Definition and the Whole house will change ( well any wall using that Wall definition anyway.) M.
  16. Yes it has always provided them in the Library for Use , but you would need to add them to the Wall Definition, for Chief to use them, as by default Chief's standard Drywall material is a 4'x8' sheet. * in the Video at 3:30, She Multiplies X 1.10 ( or 10%) She doesn't add 110% M.
  17. Ahhhh..ok here you go......Gull Wing one too if you want to look at it. Shanes- Gullwing Super8 Motel Roof.plan Shanes- Dbl. Gable Super8 Motel Roof.plan for this Dbl.Gable one here is my steps: Made 30' square building Set Room Ceiling Height Set all 4 walls to Gable Roof Build DBX > set Auto Build, 10:12 Pitch AND 7'ft Overhangs Use Transform Replicate to raise the 2 Roof planes of the East-West Ridge 2ft ( move> Z-Delta +24" ) Joined Roof Planes back together Used Polyline Union to join the 2 separate parts of the East-West Roofs back into one plane ( delete original ) Hopefully I didn't miss a Step.... M.
  18. It appears what I thought was a slight angle Change and Hence the "Gullwing thought" is likely just the way the Gable Fascia Rake Concrete Tiles looks in some Views , pity they lost the "Roof Spire" in 2004.... I'd post the Plan of this one except you can't open it as I now see you are on X8 still....
  19. This tend to happen when you use the Paint Can Tool as it takes the Wall Material OFF Default , so it no longer switches back on it's own , have a look on the materials tab and see if the Material both have the work Default in front of them ...if not open the materail and force it to Use Default with either the Checkbox or at the very top of the Plan Materials list. M.
  20. I have not read the whole thread in minutiae but do you realise each View Type has it OWN Toolbar Display Options? ie : which Toolbars are on or off in each View Type? , this is all highly customisable under Customise Toolbars -- right click any Toolbar ( empty space best sometimes) to customise or Lock them. Customize Toolbars > Toolbar (Tab) and if you want every View type to have exactly the same Toolbars then put a Blue Checkmark in every single column, this has the downside that not every toolbar can actually be used in ALL view types so Chief just grays them out ( why chief doesn't display them and toolbars "look" different.) * You still need to arrange them manually on screen while Customize is Open , I use a Custom Toolbar Config built off the Default Configuration - not sure if that help with controlling it or not? ** I also recommend keeping the Toolbars locked in everyday use so things don't "self adjust" , though even this is not 100% infallible it seems ..... M. .
  21. I thought it maybe a Gull Wing type of roof but as Eric and CS pointed out it likely isn't ......check the Reference Manual for how to build the basic types in CA , there are Tutorial in the KB too. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/6127/gull-wing-roof.html?playlist=95 *** PS I call it a Gullwing - one word - Chief calls it a Gull Wing Roof , when searching the Manual or Website.
  22. this has been bought up before, old threads may still be around? but AFAIK Chief allows for full Sheets on each Wall ie it takes the full sq.ft of the wall and divides by 32, for 4x8 sheets, (default) and then rounds up for the Sheet count, chief does not automatically place 10' or 12' long sheets where needed , you'd need to do that manually wall by wall. May be better to use square feet as the count as many Drywallers at least locally will rough Bid with that figure and then adjust once they measure the actual job. PS. Your Walls are not 20' long per your own Calculation as you have not subtracted the 2 wall thickness from your own calc. The room on the Interior is more like 19'x19' M.
  23. You may well both be right , looks Like Shane was here this morning and didn't clarify though ...I assumed it was the Gullwing that was throwing him how to do in Chief.....
  24. Looking closely I thought the Front entry showed a two pitch fascia line , subtle but there , my example was exaggerated to a half pitch ie 5:12 and 10:12 though. But you could be right it's just what I thought I saw from a few subtle clues.... M.
