  1. There is some stuff on 3D warehouse , though not made by Moen https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search/?q=moen makes me wonder why Chief hasn't got a .rfa converter these days but there maybe Legal Issues? M.
  2. always a good idea to Check the KnowledgeBase (FAQ) for Tutorials on stuff others have likely also asked about.... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00547/creating-stairs-in-sloping-terrain.html https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/18908-signature-here-at-chief-talk/?tab=comments#comment-155662 M.
  3. I finally got round to looking at the Video ( 390) , it was made in X8 , so I think this particular functionality was probably lost in the Stairs Module rework in X11 or X12. However I have never seen in the real world it done at 90deg. the Stair Installer usually uses a Wye ( Y Turn) so the railing is continuous if needed for Code.
  4. Perhaps you should of supplied the "This is what I want produced from the Start" and we would of said it can't be done auto... and you wouldn't be so frustrated.... I did mentioned, you will need to change some of the Framing manually as Chief will not frame that Automatically, eg move the bottom Plate of the railing wall up to be the double top plate and copy it for the one at the Roof surface. M.
  5. It's in your settings somewhere, as the 3rd floor Option works for me ( pics below ) with the Roof Plane drawn over the 2nd floor wall , and snapped to the Interior side of the Solid Railing Wall . IF ? ( haven't opened your plan) you used Open Below on the 3rd Floor "Room" you won't get the Wall Framing generating as you want it too, instead set the Floor Finish and Structure on the 3rd floor to 0" and delete the material from the DBX. Leave Ceiling in , at least at 1st or the Trusses may not Draw as the need a ceiling and Roof plane to generate. Railing Walls do not appear to get the double top plate , so you will need to copy and drag the Top Plate down to double them up. etc.
  6. This is what I get opening the Layout........... are you sending to layout from 2 different plans by accident?
  7. Not need to be sorry ........thanks for the Laugh ! ( it's funnier I think as there is some truth in it ! ) *Haven't tried it but isn't that the difference between Railing Transitions and Smooth Railing Transitions? Also is the Staircase built as two staircases or is it built with the new ( in x12) ability to break the staircase and have two different widths? M.
  8. I just noticed this myself this week and had to send to Layout with the Color Fill on so some 2D Trees in my case would not show through the House , even though in Elevation the Trees were sent to the Back ( Drawing Order 38 ) and looked fine there.
  9. The KB is always a good place to check if you have questions : https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00181/creating-furred-walls.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00925/using-marriage-walls.html
  10. I'd suggest using %layout.Label % Macro on page 0 instead , and Label the Pages in you Layout Template as you want ie A# ( the # will let Chief number the pages automatically) , once done in the Template Layout you don't ever have to do it again. M.
  11. When you Print don't let it Print ALL Sheets (pages) , give it a Range or Ranges of Pages to print eg 1-7, 9-15, 17-24 etc. * as mentioned above a page with nothing on it but the Title Bar will not Print either.
  12. What would be nice would be a UNDO like most other Programs have with a History Function you could step back as far as you wanted ( to your Set Undo Limit ) M.
  13. Yep, that's what I was trying to say maybe I wasn't clear enough.... Still gonna be a bunch of work for 40 Layersets, depends on the number of Layers I guess though Perhaps Michael or Glenn might have a faster method up their sleeve for you though? @glennw @Alaskan_Son M.
  14. You can copy any existing Layerset and Rename it to one of your others but that will bring issues of it's own eg what is displayed or not by default in each layerset. It would also be a bit of work due to deleting the old Layersets , as Chief won't allow it , if they are "in use" in the plan either in Defaults or a Saved Plan View etc etc. M.
  15. I only use Chief , so have never had a Quadro personally , so my knowledge of those Cards has been Gleaned over the years from reading different threads, they are not required for Chief , in fact Chief advises to buy a Nvidia Gaming Card ( with 4GB Ram ) to save money. The Studio and Quadro Driver are considered more Stable , and in running the Studio vs GR Drivers I have never noticed any difference in Chief or otherwise. I don't think you will have an issue but it won't harm anything to wait a week and see if there are any reports online of Issues. It's what I normally do to , unless I already have a know Issue the new Driver may address. M.
  16. Nvidia has released new Studio Drivers today ( 7-16-2020 ) as well ..............Version 451.77 News https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/june-2020-nvidia-studio-driver/ Driver Download: https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/162469/en-us
  17. Hi Steve, Do you run Software other than Chief , that can take advantage of the Quadro enhancements? eg Solid Works 3D or other engineering type CAD applications? Chief does not require the Quadro variant, a GTX or RTX card is fine, but I know many CAD Workstations and Laptops come with them. The Quadro Drivers are actually a Superset of the Studio Driver Version and are usually about 1 series behind (ie: 450 vs 451.xx series currently) due to extra testing and other "enhancements" and personally I saw no problems with the 451 Series of the GR or Studio Driver. This is the latest download and release notes for the T2000 https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/162431/en-us
  18. Did you try changing something and setting it straight back to what it was , with Modify All checked? M.
  19. Do you know for sure it is built with exposed (structural) Rafters with only Ply and Shingles above? it was done that way back then with 2x6 T&G though ( not 1x6) From the photos and the PDF, I was thinking perhaps you are wrong about the Roof Framing and you are actually seeing "Fake" Roof Rafters on 4'-6' Centers . and the Roof Structure is as per the PDF , ie 2x6" Rafters @16" OC with the ply and Shingles above but the photo of the Skylight may prove that thinking is wrong though? as the Roof plane looks rather thin if you allow for a 2x4 or 2x4 Curb on the Skylight. ( photos of exterior?) So it seems it wasn't built as per the plans at all if that is the case. There is no mention of Insulation at all in the Plans , so hopefully you are remedy that, Brrrrrrrr...
  20. Roof Beams will find the slope of the roof plane automatically and can be multicopied pretty quickly. How is that Roof Insulated if that is the correct Structure? ( maybe it isn't? ) M.
  21. The BM is aligned with the Beams but you have the Trim Framing To Soffit Option Set in the Roof Planes so the Rafter Tails are being trimmed Up to the Subfascia Thickness hence the notch on the ends so it appears as if the BM is not Correct. M.
  22. Perhaps this way currently cos you haven't actually built the foundation level yet? I assume you set it back to Floor Under this Room in Defaults? M.
  23. You have marked many of the Interior Walls as Furred Walls even the ones not actually furring anything.....uncheck that and Rm Def. will come back.... instead make Walltypes with the appropriate Layers ie the 12" Block then an AirGap then the Stud then the Drywall ..... ( Pic.2)
  24. Best to just use the Windows SnipTool to post Images direct to the forum , so people don't need to download anything.... M.
  25. Not necessarily ( but probably in this case ) alignment could be wrong if wall is reversed or if the Wall is more that 1/2 its own width off the one above or below , then chief thinks it's deliberate and you won't get the icon. The Reference Layer may show it in that case? or put a BC CS Camera through the wall , by defaul Chief builds the Siding (stucco etc) down to the bottom of the Floor Structure ...and no further ie the 1-1.5" hang down in the Real world. * also check the upper wall bottom height height is at default if you were pulling in 3D? M.
