Yup that is the look. ON Mac the little icon pile in the corner for me is a white box but that is what it does.

It ONLY happens to me if I have the side windows undocked and on the second screen. Never had it happen otherwise.
-
Had it happen this afternoon and I looked exactly what I was doing. I had a plan file, two camera views, a cad detail and the layout file I was working on open. Had my ALDO, LB, & PB open on smaller LG Ultrawide 2560x1080 screen main window on my Samsung curved 32" set at 1080p. Randomly it seems as I was working back and forth all day in this file sending different details and plans to layout for a commercial job when I would click on the layout tab it would happen. 75% of the time it would fix when I dragged ALDO back to main screen.

I still don’t understand what is different for a chimney than a standard wall. A chimney is made of 4 walls of varying materials depending on construction type to a certain ceiling or top height and have a type of foundation below them. I don’t see the difference from a regular room for all simplification purposes. In the end it is just a 4 walled rectangular room with a really tall ceiling. Yes there would be things needed to be added to the room for smoke tables, flues, etc. kind of like changing your drywall to fire rock, or sound rock, or backer board, or....

Same setup here and I shared all of this in a report about a month ago. Received for the second time we are unable to reproduce. Possibly these details are not being forwarded?

Just a slight point to add as I have seen this basic situation twice today. Once you have placed the item it is no longer tied to your user library and becomes a placed object in the plan. Deleting the item in your user library or changing it in any way does not change the already placed item in your plan file or any others.

My exact suspicion as well as I have the same setup.

You placed the windows after you changed the default or before?
-
I see you were successful with getting at least one downvote there so far. But I think I saw it early on. I will be honest with you though I can understand why they are downvoting you since comments like this one probably make chief less likely to fix the infamous Mac toolbar issue which yes I have seen and struggle with sometimes as well.

Have you searched for dormer by chance?

Had the exact same issue that technical support was unable to replicate. It would go away when I resized the column with the 2d symbol.

Material Change (unplanned) to all cabinets in a plan
rgardner replied to wpdesigninc's topic in General Q & A
Try hitting the f1 key when you are using those tools. Search for use default. -
Looks like the window is higher than your ceiling height for that room. Could be an attic space with slopes ceiling which if that is the case you would be balloon framing that wall as Perry’s mentions and that should make it fix if you change it to that.

Help! My custom pics do not show inside pic frames
rgardner replied to Marilyn_L's topic in General Q & A
Welcome to the forums! You will be able to get the help you need here, however we also ask for your help so we can get it done quickly for you. Some info that would help would be; What version are you using? What camera view are you using? A screen grab of the picture and the dbx of the symbol along with your signature filled out would really help to get accurate responses. -
Looks like a window or a niche to me.

Wooden porch...how to align posts with newels

Nice video Doug -
Easier in x12, but can you open the symbol and change the rotation?
-
I agree that knowing how to do it is key but if the auto roofs are far off from what the desired is in many cases it is because the configurations you tell it to do are not right. If you setup your model roof to be built correctly it is generally pretty close. Now again I will reiterate that some cases manual is the way to go. I too do some very large and complicated roofs both for as-builts and new construction although I do tend to try to simplify new designs to take into account the general idea of massing and less is more. But again the roof tool although not perfect can get you 90% of the way in most cases.

Wooden porch...how to align posts with newels
rgardner replied to Jambruins's topic in General Q & A
Mark gives some good ideas. I prefer to turn off my newell posts and manually place my deck posts all the way to the beam. Effectively your railing is going to go through your post but will look usually good enough in 3d. If you have a large post or it is looking odd due to layout you can take it one step farther and break the railing wall at those posts and make that small section invisible if you don't have a roof above, or change it to open with no lower and upper rail which is the most exact and will be the most exact for a materials list as well. -
Probably need to include your plan file on this one. Make sure to zip it and close the program before you upload.
-
Still disagree with this statement. In some roof cases yes manual is the way to go. But I would say in most cases that is not the case. Make the program do 90% of the work for you by learning to use the automatic tools how they are. At the end you will probably have to manually over-ride the auto roofs to adjust a few things. but why spend the time to manually draw all the roof planes if it will automatically generate something that is close for you in most cases. Especially newer users will find life alot less complicated with auto roofs in most cases. My 2cents only.

That method does work but in vector mode you get unwanted lines. Placing the doorways will allow it to be a continuous beam.
-
Another trick if you don't actually use the railing but just want the posts is openings control placements of the posts.
