@KnotSquare - I highlighted the “trim framing to soffits” above. If you don’t want to see a soffit…make the soffit material “open no material”.
-
Mark - To get your rafters to "frame"...you need to go to the roof structure tab and make sure to check the "framing" box...otherwise chief will not "frame" the structure...it will be a solid block as you have now. Regarding the soffits...you need to check "Soffits" and "flat under eave sub fascia". Then...on the materials tab, make the soffit material "open no material". This will make Chief trim the rafters flat...but will not create a "soffit". It's there...but you won't see it.

Is this what you are trying to achieve?

@DRyeHD @solver As Eric suggests with his post...you don't HAVE to redraw the roofs to make the fix. I'd probable redraw them as one error still remains... Damon Roof Fix #2...for Solver - Watch Video

The remove portion of RAILING FOLLOW STAIR challenge
SNestor replied to dshall's topic in General Q & A
Scott - Break the railing pony wall at the where it intersects with the wall with the door @ the first floor. Make this section of wall "roof cuts wall at bottom". Place a ceiling plane...which should trim the wall. You will probably have to clean up things with a solid here and there. -

Video Lesson - How to create an A-Frame House

@para-CAD - thanks...very much appreciate your comments! -
Maybe...you don't use a railing wall. Just use a Stucco wall, then insert doorways, no jamb, no casing. You should make adjustments to the doorway rough opening settings...no need to have a framing added 1" or so when you concrete block with stucco. Had to have a beach background for a Florida guy...

@EmmaCox - You should be able to use auto roof return. This option is in the wall edit dialogue. See screen clip. I can't comment on whether this "glitch" is due to the plan being started in a previous version...but, a simple roof return as you show in your screen clip should work in X14.

@KilianDrafting - you should definitely check out my “screened porch library”. No faster or better way to create a porch. https://www.mychiefskills.com

Oh…yea, I get the issue now
-
@KristjanM - am I missing something? Seems to work for me. I created a pony. Lower section is 10" concrete wall with a 2x6 wall on the interior. Upper wall is 2x6 and contains a window. I the attached screen clip...I opened the wall, in the "wall types" section I selected from "display in plan view"...lower wall. The window is showing. This display is independent of using "saved plan views"...

Don't get me started about the stair tool...it needs a complete overhaul. Is it possible that Chief Engineers just do not know how incapable this tool is?

@Archnot-Boltz - In order to get a ceiling you have to create a room. No room - no ceiling. There isn’t a room below the cantilevered floor. I usually just use a solid for this…but you could use invisible walls on the first level to create a room with a ceiling. This will work but can create all sorts of other issues to deal with.
