You can zip the file...or create an example plan and post that.

@LevisL - I don’t believe that RTRT is supported for the MAC. That could be the reason your renders don’t look great. Apple uses “metal” as their graphics engine and I don’t believe Chief has optimized their software to use this. I could be mistaken….maybe someone from Chief could jump in here and set us all straight?
-
It’s not that the M1 or M2 can’t produce RTRT…Chief hasn’t written their software to take advantage of the ARM chip design. Other rendering software companies have done the work and written their software to work with Apple…still waiting for Chief. But - in X15 we can make custom arrows! Wooo!

Need help adding shed dormer to a vaulted ceiling.
SNestor replied to doitright's topic in Seeking Services
I gave it a shot...here's an example plan you should study. You need a 2nd floor. Part of the 2nd floor is "open to below". Make sure your walls have room definition. Adjust your roof pitches as needed...I just guessed at what you want. Brocks Tiny House-My Chief Skills v1.plan -
Need help adding shed dormer to a vaulted ceiling.
SNestor replied to doitright's topic in Seeking Services
@doitright - We need a bit more info than you have provided. Using a 12/12 pitch roof over the the main 8'-6" wide room does not provide head room needed for a loft floor above. Also...you attached a PDF of the floor plan but no picture of what you are trying to accomplish. That would help... -
@Renerabbitt - thanks for the inside info on the path Chief is going. I feel better now knowing this bit of info.

Is Automatically Place Roof Intersection Points missing in V 15 ?
SNestor replied to PLANSAHEAD's topic in General Q & A
No..the tool now appears on the Edit Toolbar when you click a roof plane...see screen clip below. It's a 3-step process. -
Here's my thing. The library improvements are fine...not arguing that. However, I've probably seen a dozen or more posts over the past year or two about improving the deck framing tools. I mean...there is a plethora of improvements this tool needs...but, completely ignored. Instead...we get a library search tool that I wasn't an immediate need...and I don't think many of us have has asked for.
-
I always try auto roofs...but, I'm fast at doing roofs manually...so, I usually give up if I don't get what I want and just place the roof planes manually.
-
Here you go...built manually. Plan Attached - AS-BUILTS - Copy.plan.zip

@LevisL - can you use PBR in X15 with your M2 Mac?
-
Huge? Might be a bit overstated..,
-
Just thinking out loud…was this library re-tool even necessary? We’re we all screaming for this? I would have preferred that Chief had dedicated their engineering towards improving the stair tool or towards improving the “style pallet” tool…or anything that would lead to ease of use and increased productivity.

The image I attached is a vector view…but it looked fine in standard also.

Your bonus room needs a floor...therefore, you need to build a 2nd floor in your plan. Turn off "auto rebuild roofs" (if you have them on) and build a blank 2nd floor. If you create a room on the new 2nd floor with "room definition"...then Chief will place your default floor system in this room. All the attic spaces above your existing first floor will remain framed with ceiling joists if there is no "room definition". You will have to move or reconstruct the roof over this bonus room...unless you are tucking the room under the roof. Here's a short video explanation; Room over Garage - Build a 2nd Floor - Watch Video

You can now create a custom toolbar that is visible just in your Dashboard view...I'm not seeing the value to this new feature but maybe someone can jump in here and provide an example.

Anyone Offering Online One on One Training Sessions?
SNestor replied to ThomasR89's topic in Seeking Services
Yes...I offer one-on-one training. Check out my website listed in my signature below. -
I just did this in X15...worked the way it did in X14. No issues... I'm on a MAC...but I doubt this makes any difference.

Video Lesson - How to create an A-Frame House
SNestor replied to SNestor's topic in Tips & Techniques
The video I posted above was done using X14… -
Yes…that is a problem. If you need to show the area of each room. It works if you only need a room number.
-
Alan - You can select the "room" outside the invisible walls and in the "schedule" tab, "uncheck" include in schedule. So...I don't think creating a "room schedule" would be a reason not to use invisible walls. Also, in the schedule itself you can select only the room types you want to include...so, rooms marked "unspecified" can be excluded in the schedule. Am I missing something?
-
@LevisL - brackets made from general framing members are great as long as you don't need a custom shape, such as a curve or notch.

@ChiefJessie @builtright3 Made you a video on how to make a bracket you can stretch... How To: Create a Bracket that you can stretch uniformly - Watch Video

@ACADuser Alan - you may have already used this method...but, maybe not. How to: Create a Reverse Tray Ceiling - Watch Video
