@LighthouseDavid, I just took your dwg converted both to polyline solids, made the outside 14" high and the inside one 16" high and used the subtraction tool and got it to work. This is in X12 also.

@j2narchitecturethere is a video on Chief Architect, search for compound curved roof.

@agorres #1 - Try Playing around with pony walls around the stair section, Lower wall being room divider. The outside railing needs a couple breaks and a little work to get it worked out and made the stair section a couple inches narrower and put railing on the wall. BTW I did this in X18 not knowing what version you are using. You might want to update your signature.

@BeachGirlI don't think that option is available even in HDP 2026, You can make a wall type with CMU or concrete, 2 x 4 stud and drywall.

@winterddDid you create a 2nd floor for the attic? That's what I did to get the attic to form a room, the fist picture the side wall goes all the way over to the valley and the second picture I pulled the wall away from the valley 4 inches and the subfloor disappeared.

I've been using it for a couple months on my new laptop with RTX 5080 and haven't had any issues. Just updated the latest version and Rabbitt's pro plan update and everything is running great.

Railing Wall Beam Displaying as a Double Line
Garybills replied to Jonathan3891's topic in General Q & A
I can get the double line to show if the rail style includes top rail. If top and bottom rails are not included, then I only get a single line. That may be the difference. -
Sorry to hear you lost your buddy! I had a Jimmy who helped me and lost him two years ago. Now I have a Bailey girl who sits by my side every day.

If this is the look you want, auto build roofs and set the eave overhang however far you want, set the side walls roofs to upper pitch.

How would this laptop run X17 and future X18?
Garybills replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
I have a MSI Stealth that’s 3 1/2 years old, it has an RTX 3070 and still runs X17 pretty well. Im not sure how well the 5060 will perform!!!! I’ve been rough on mine moving it around a lot, the screen hinge screws strip out so have it bolted together. It’s still working good. -
Convert roof with living space below into barn style roof
Garybills replied to thomhu's topic in General Q & A
You can do it without starting over, I couldn't get the front gable to cut in to the gambrel roof to be open inside the room. I had auto-build roofs on for the gambrels and then adjusted the front gable and the deck roofs. Hop this helps. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/qi7rv6yy1xmhuz86kgka8/richter_2026_04_12-Edited-Roof.caproj?rlkey=trsdggnu4ng7aak74epecyg5t&dl=0 -

For some reason the walls beside the stairs and my arched doorways were messed up and that’s the only way I could get them to work. I’m sure it could be done but copy/paste and drag in place, a couple minutes and it worked. Sure not a normal situation!!!
-
Do you have the roof defaults set to trusses? That will disable the raise/lower option.
-
I use both because I work with other users that haven't upgraded yet, but I went ahead and finished everything I'd started in X16 and didn't try to transfer to x17. I have opened a few that were finished in x17, and everything seems to be ok.
-
Well, I had to try it. It's not really easy but I used curved roof planes and concrete walls with double arched doorways. There are actually 6 roof planes, two on each side of the concrete walls and two between the walls with a roof hole over the stairs. I didn't make it to your room size so the settings will be different, and I used X17'

Is it just the working layer set or all sets? Did you happen to accidentally toggle off the color tool?

You can get the two lower sections with auto roofs by setting the side walls to have upper pitch, but then you’ll probably have to manually draw the upper section and adjust the center section.
