Yes, I send to layout early in the process. My first prints will be either the as built or very rough elevations that are used as the base for a lot of layers of trace paper. I need those at scale and the easiest way for me to track that is by sending to layout. I have title blocks in my layout file for 8.5x11, 11x17 (both horizontal and vertical) and for 24x36. Once I am done with design development my layout boxes get rescaled and moved accordingly for the construction documents.

I can understand that you may print from the plan file (as some do) but I never do that. I am always working with a layout file open that I am feeding images. That way, for plan views and elevation views, I will be printing at a known scale. I even will often include a graphic scale so that if someone does not print out at the correct size they have a scale for reference. I am assuming the blue box you were referring to is the sheet size indicator in the plan file?

Post you plan and I will try and output a pdf file for you. Are you trying to print 8.5 x 11 sheets from the plan file or from a layout file?

Your drawing sheet and paper size should match, ideally. That is the reason for the unusually large quantity of pages.

Why Do My Walls Sometimes Show Brick On The Inside?
Gawdzira replied to Electromen's topic in General Q & A
For materials, make your cabinets out of specific materials: Door Color Cab Base color Toe kick color Etc. Then, when you change that color from red to blue, everything with that assignment will change. Anno sets are for creating construction documents. If you are not making con docs you may not see their power. -

More importantly, why are you not using Annotation sets? 5 minutes to learn, 15 minutes to set up for your plan (which can then be copied to all plans) and it will save you at least 5 hours a week for the rest of your natural life. I don't know what you bill an hour but that 5 hours a week buys me a lot of donuts. -

Make your drywall thickness on the abutting walls match at either 5/8 or 1/2 and then snap that interior wall to the exterior corner at the correct location. -
Larry, I am not that far away. You know I will come down there with my dogs and leave a present on your lawn if you are printing directly from the plan file....

Are you printing from Plan or Layout?

Mick, you will need to delete the current pin to task bar and reassign the one with the updated icon.

Now I am more confused. 1. What is your goal? 2. Can you post an image of what you are getting vs. what you want? 3. Are you looking for a colored design image of your floor plan?

You might want to post this in the general questions area. It tends to get a lot more looks. You will also be more likely to get a wider perspective.

1. Are you sending to layout or printing from the plan file? 2. Yes, that is the way Vector will work. Only B&W.

This looks like a great opportunity. Completely misspelled his name "Lstiburek" https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/7920786473092877058

Can you find your user library through your computer file system? If so, reload the library. Library ---> Import Library

Has Anyone Done Board And Batten Siding? How?

I generally do it in 3d to get the nice look. -

I know of no schools that use Chief for their CADD software. With that said, are you hiring for drafting or design and drafting. Very different in my mind. If you find a young grad with a tight portfolio it will be easy to get someone trained on whatever CADD software you are using. A young person with good computer knowledge can pick up a new software package quickly as they are less likely to fight the tools (that are not in CA but they are used to from ACAD). I actually would like to start an education program so I can develop drafting help but I think my local area is a bit too small.

I tend to run both x6 and x7 beta simultaneously, although I am almost completely out of x6, I don't like to be confused by the task bar icon so I made this icon to replace x7. I like it. seven_icon.ico

I did send in a ticket. You may have grabbed the file that I uploaded that had cleared the issue. Also, I had made a polyline fix and I can't remember if that second file had it moved away. I did send it in to support but no word back yet.

I am always printing to pdf. It appears a small amount of the text is jumping from the plan on the left to the print area.

I am getting a strange result with this plan/layout. See the image trail. 1. screen shot in layout 2. screen shot in print preview 3. print result https://www.dropbox.com/s/ipi8kpsmc8r5d21/bu%20glick.zip?dl=0 edit --Just updated the drop box file. I had cleaned a bunch of extraneous files out of the layout which cleared the issue but that is still not good since I generally need those other files to live in the layout.
