  1. I think the fee is reasonable. Mine also comes at a bad time of year, 12/26...Merry Christmas. I too struggle with the renewal basing it on what is included and how much effect it will have on my business. In this area of the country (suburban Philadelphia) remodeling has been cut throat and getting reasonable prices for work is difficult. I did renew however and am hoping things pick up. Projects take a while from first phone call to signed and ready to start. And now the market takes a dive.....;o( Oh and I did get SEVERAL notices ahead of time.
  2. Did you build framing for it? Is it set to display in the 3D view?
  3. Glad to hear your daughter is doing better and glad to see you back!
  4. Thanks Kirk. Stupid is as stupid does! DOH!
  5. cannot remember where to set the display for ray trace progress. Some how I lost it.
  6. Post the plan so we can take a look.
  7. Shelby - I would change the floor to reflective vs polished. That will help. Your video card could be part of the problem, maybe-maybe not. You could post the plan and others can run a ray trace for the same time and see what results they get based on their equipment. But 16 passes in a little over 3 minutes seems to be pretty quick. Post the plan so we can have a look,
  8. "Chief Architect Bonus Catalogs >Kitchen styles" I cannot find that on the chief site. Any help appreciated. Never mind, found it.
  9. Check with masonry building supplier. They may be able to help. Never heard of anyone specifying mortar amounts. Let the mason deal with it.
  10. Scott - looks like the link for the stair features is incorrect.
  11. jon - great detail and overall look! Looks like that one took some time. Is it a Chief RT or other? (Thea?)
  12. Kevin - done for staging purposes? i.e. currently empty house?
  13. Glad you found it and thanks for posting the answer. Maybe it happened during an auto update of your system? Who knows. I somehow got my windows 10 screwed up after an update and lost my start menu. Chat with Microsoft got everything back to normal but stuff does happen.
  14. IT is just your plan with material change for a couple of the cabinet tops. My settings are OOB. May be a video card issue? You may need to talk to Tech support on this one. One other thing. IT looks like the picture you posted was from another plan. Maybe post that one?
  15. Warren, As you are seeing ray tracing is an art form not just "flipping switches". i.e. lights on and off. Sometimes I use photon mapping, sometimes not. Closed rooms (no windows) require different settings than rooms with sun light. IF you don't use photon mapping than you will probably need to up the interior ambient light for a ray trace. Problem there is it looks TOO bright for standard renders. Material settings also play havoc. You have to be careful of materials set to "polished" as they tend to blur the light especially on floors. I prefer to use reflective. Occasionally I will use polished on dark color furniture. It really is a bit of trial and error. But the good news is you are getting better! Keep up the good work.
  16. Is there a wall legend in the plan? If not contact the architect and ask for details or just a verbal on what comprises the walls.
  17. Rob - how about a couple of 3D lights to brighten the whole area?
  18. Lew - maybe this will hold you over while you're waiting.......;o)
  19. Thank you Coralie and a Merry Christmas to you and yours! And Merry Christmas to all of my Chief buddies! (non-gender specific) ;o)
  20. Michael - I think that must be it. Seems better now. Jonathan - ray trace. But final view with shadows wasn't working either.
