  1. Well, I'm still learning after 13 years. Good luck. I took a couple of classes when I started and that was enough to go with it. Everyone has their own way of doing the setup, and I know of no one that does it just like me and I can't work with anyone else's setup. It is fun though.
  2. There are some reasons to turn off framing b/c Chief will not downsize a 2x12 hip in a 2x6 rafter system correctly and it will show through the ceiling.,
  3. It could use some enhancements but works good at this point.
  4. Mouse driver also caused me some slowness lately, it was the Bluetooth mode, switched to usb mode and worked good again. Logitech mx master.
  5. Thanks I'll keep an eye out.
  6. I'm also not having any problems with the undo tool, Chief has greatly improved it over the last few versions. I think it's something else going on there.
  7. I have noticed sometimes those lines are there ,and they will disappear when you print to pdf, in which it prints to a higher resolution automatically..
  8. I have that killer card and haven't seen any problems yet, also 1gig speed, maybe I haven't put a heavy load yet.
  9. here is a quick answer, I think it's a bug right now my sound isn't working but look closely just remove the roof and ceiling from that little room and it will apply the roof correctly then just patch that area with a roof. I think it' a bug o report it haven't seen that one before.
  10. Start out using automatic roof tool, then use a manual roof plane for that front overhang. add brackets from the lib. or create your own from p-solids
  11. try turning on automatic framing for walls , floor, ceiling, and roof in the framing defaults.
  12. you could also try a new mirror material, some older ones don't work
  13. You will need to get that info from Chief, I don't think the people doing testing can talk, but what do I know.
  14. You might try to turn reflections on in the camera DBX, what version are you using?, it makes a difference.
  15. You should be able to select each footing / wall and adjust the footing depth from that DBX. After all footings are just walls with footings and create rooms .
  16. So , if you follow those standards, would that make me an Architect. over 4000 projects, 42 years in this business, permits on every project obtained, All in California, the toughest area of the world for regulations.?
  17. well good luck with all that, but I read the opposite everywhere in California, real estate is in a bubble right now and waiting to burst. Hope your right.
  18. Yep it looks like no room definition somewhere to me also. check your wall connections.
  19. And don't forget about the next crash which is coming, no matter how you look at it. Buy low sell high has its merits. IMO ,right now is not the time to buy in California..
  20. ok so we all agree he was a draftsman- designer and quite good at it. and maybe not.
  21. You could always simply just turn off framing rafters in that camera view unless you need to see the rafters.
  22. I would say if you need that kind of detail , upgrade to Premier and do it all
  23. of course someone would have to see the plans to make that judgement but its kind of like the lower part of a retaining wall usually is a much thicker block and more rebar than the upper level, maybe in this case it's just not enough weight or lateral loads to require more rebar.. Call the engineer of record from the building permit and ash them to make you feel better about it.
