  1. I always create my own layersets to use for reference sets, that way you can adjust the property's of each thing you want to show as a reference item without changing the original layerset. That method work great.
  2. You can add a cad block of the column, on any floor you want, by going to the cad block management DBX, select the correct cad block, and use the "Insert" button. It also could be , you have the wrong reference floor marked
  3. You don't say where you are, that makes a difference for people here. Different areas of the U.S. have different requirements for plans.
  4. I never paint walls, its always been a problem, you need to go and change the finish back to default conditions and then change the finish in the wall DBX or create a new wall for every different condition. Never paint walls other things are ok.
  5. Bill Thank you sir, you made my day.
  6. Sorry I thought you were quoting at me, its a laugh anyway. I don't know about you but I take things very lightly and like to have fun, after all they pay us the big bucks to be here. Its a great way to learn though.
  7. I hate to tell you but, rendering is done with the video card, and ray traces are done with the CPU .
  8. Why do I need to post them? Who cares what my stuff looks like, the question should be are you happy with yours.
  9. When you draw a truss, it will delete the automatic framing automatically. You just have to draw each different truss you have in your drawing and multiple copy from there.
  10. Why not upgrade to Adobe X or XI never any problems with that. I use X and it work great.
  11. All trusses need to be drawn manually, not automatic.
  12. I Use lots of layers already, and showing both floor and foundation on the same page just isn't right, never has been and just can't be done here, the city's would reject it as un-viewable. We here in California have to show all the holdowns and connections on the foundation plan, so they won't forget it. Tends to clutter things up and not a clean look.
  13. I have also experienced slowness with startup and help files but the plans are ok for speed.
  14. The reason for me to put the basement on the first floor is so I can have a foundation plan separate from a floor plan especially if you have a finished basement with walls and rooms. Too much clutter for me to put them both on the same plan
  15. I'm a 5 min., at the most guy, Clients love them. The detail is good enough for what I need them to do.
  16. The thing is, I don't see any condition that would put an island wall there in the first place. A room divider wall is just an invisible wall with a zero thickness. Something else might be wrong. An island wall would be standard wall thickness
  17. Not really a workaround, I have walls on every plan I do, that need the display of, to be turned off. Set up a template plan with all your extra layers you need and then its very simple to do.
  18. Section dimensions are still very slow for me but as you know there are no "locate objects" settings for dimensioning the sides or shelves of cabinets. Maybe Chief could add them. When there is no setting to locate those objects it uses the point markers. IMO there is still work needed to be done in this area.
  19. Not sure if that's the case here but some symbols have a very large face count and need to be fixed, send it in to tech support so they can fix it. Sometimes those things just get installed and they need to know about it as they don't read everything here.
  20. Put the room divider or island wall on its own layer and turn off the display of it
  21. I took Scott's magic video pill and now I too live under the bridge, waiting for his next one on YouTube.
  22. Go to the windows DBX/ general, and change the minimum separation to "0"
  23. There are a lot of video's out there, watch as many as you can. Watch and do worked for me. search Youtube, Chieftutor.com, and of course Chief's own videos.
  24. Those tools can do the same thing, the backclipped section using a longer run will be the same as a section /elevation.
  25. I would love to go but, I stopped doing long plane rides a while back, being 6'7 350 lbs., those seats are just too small for me to be comfortable for that long, the only way I fly now is 1st class. If I went to the south pacific, 1st class is not worth it, I might as well take 6 local cruses, sorry buddy, getting old Anyway I try to fly when I can hold it b/c I don't fit in those stupid toilets.
