Not for me, running like butter. You might try to update you video card drivers.
-
Any you can always change the name on the plan to show as Deck. I always use balcony if I need a solid waterproof floor.
-
after sending to layout just drag it to wherever you want, it stays unless you have to send another view for some reason.
-
No Chief doesn't have any of this probably b/c everyone has a different computer and video card. My setting are just from experimenting with them. You may find a different setting works better for you. You really can't make a mistake as you can always reset. Also make sure you turn off "software edge smoothing" in the render DBX, let the card do it if you have a fairly new card.
-
ok here is the rest of it.
-
I turn off everything about software settings and let the hardware do its thing, If you have a newer card it better to let the hardware do it. I also set up Chief in the Nvidia control panel and just use the recomemended settings for the "Manage 3d section. It seems faster to me.

Whatever layer set you use for your elevations, just change the line style to dotted for foundation walls and footings in that view. You can also set the line style on the layout view by using the edit lines and changing them there, but if you have to refresh the view you lose all the edits so its best to change it in the layer set you use to send it to the layout.

Also if you had put your schedules in a cad view it will still update and is live. -
Need to show 1St and 2nd fl roof together in layout
DRAWZILLA replied to jaked1's topic in General Q & A
Yes, that is a problem if you have 3 floors but you can copy/ paste, and put it on a different layer for some things. What we really need is to be able to have mutable reference sets. I think the op just had a simple reference situation. We have asked for that ,maybe X7 -

Using a Reference layer set or anno-set will let you show anything you want on any level. I use it on every job. Don't ever draw anything twice and stay away from cad work whenever you can. -
Smoothing out terrain for sloping roads & sidewalks

And golf courses -
I don't know, all I know is, I had to hire an electrician to fix it. That's how scary I am. Penny says she will never let me do that again, in fact she doesn't let me do a lot of things since 1976 when a lawn mower ran over my foot and split one sneaker in half, I didn't want to look at my foot but had to and everything (my foot) was untouched.

Make sure the fan isn't running backwards after. light a match to test it. One mistake I made once.
-
In x6 you can just set the foundation/ footing/ foundation walls to a dotted line now. You can also use an earth filled p-line to cover up the foundation lines if you don't want to se them at all, or I guess you can just turn them off.

Actually I think it is a great video b/c this happens all the time when importing a topo. -
Thanks Gerry, you are the macro pro.
-
You know, I've always wondered why we have to go to the window DBX to change a door setting.
-
There are a lot of macro's in the program that you can't use in a text box. Sorry, not my expertise, but maybe those who can are following this thread. I know enough to be dangerous. Another way to get those numbers you want is to create a simple p-line, outline the area , then open the DBX and it will give you the area of that p-line.
-
In the windows DBX set the min separation distance to 0 andin the doors DBX remove casings. Also hold down the control key when trying to slam them together.
-
Chief currently only has 1 line available for labels but you can create text label using text macro's in a text block. You may have to create your own macro's for surface and overhang though. There are some people her that could do that ( Gerry) (Bill).

How would gable end walls work and do they line up. Nice idea if it works. I try to play around with this idea.
-
If I understand what you want correctly, you can use attic walls for that, or you can make that a room with a low ceiling height/ roof height. I assume those are invisible walls below. You may need to turn off auto attic walls and create your own manually, to get them to stick.

Got any of those new Bathroom Oval sinks in the plan. They are not suitable for use right now until Chief fixes them. If you have 2 or 3 of those symbols in a plan it will slow you down considerably. Change to another one, and it's fine. Edit, I wasn't even close, my mind was wandering too much. The tool I use is the arrow keys to move in small areas.

Another type would be board on board like 1x12 over 1x12 but could be 1x8's or 1x10"
