  1. I use a template to start every new job using a basic setup and modify from that. My template plans (plan and layout) have a basic box house with a roof. My views are already sent to the layout so It ready to go. When I start a new plan ,I bring up a copy of that plan and layout and link them up. I then go to the plan start setting defaults for the new job i.e.. roof, stucco color, foundation etc. I then layout the new plan shell and then adjust the views in the layout. Because everything is already on the layout , you can forget about until your finished with the plan. I do have to send the sections even though I already have section callouts in the plan, Chief needs to let us copy them so until they do I have several already waiting to be moved into place. You can always delete the ones you don't use, that's faster then trying to create more. I used to have several template plans but I have found that 1 basic template plan is just easier. I'm always updating it as I go along..
  2. I use IE and yes I did change that setting a while back.
  3. I also can play them from the cheiftalk screen
  4. Block it first. hold down control and select to block it Another way is to save it as a macro, then you can change it and it will automatically change everywhere in the plan.
  5. I noticed that your video card is old and weak, that could be some of your problems. Just guessing
  6. I think your wrong on this, its very easy to do ,and what is the severe limitation. User error if you ask me
  7. Sometimes the label hides the handle and you can't see it. until you zoom very close to it, no matter what size it is.
  8. I don't think that Chief uses SLI ,so make sure before you buy. Also remember that renders use the video card and ray traces use the CPU.
  9. just take whatever door you need and change the material to glass, if I understand you correctly.
  10. Scott, What do you know about toilet safety. Also the porcelain throne must be able to withstand the massive forces that some people throw down upon it, not even saying about what's required in the floor structure. The hole size also needs to be a large one, for those embarrassing moments when a regular hole just won't do.
  11. Set your snap grids to something like 1/4" or turn them off.
  12. Swing it out just incase you have a medical problem while sitting on the pot. If the door swings in, they wouldn't be able to open it and would have to cut it out. Yes, I really think of these things. I started doing all those that way a long time ago.
  13. Yes, I have been adding "overhead or roll up in the comment section.
  14. Yes ,you have to zoom in to see it sometimes, to me it just another click that is not needed.
  15. I just draw a line and center on that when It won't center in an area.
  16. With your computer spec's, I don't see it as a computer problem, something else is giving you problems, maybe an old program or windows update, who knows. Network problem? Video card driver update?
  17. I would definitely go with Windows 8, don't get left in the dust. Chief tests on windows 8, that is the future. It runs very well on my windows 8.1 system.
  18. Not for me, running like butter. You might try to update you video card drivers.
  19. Any you can always change the name on the plan to show as Deck. I always use balcony if I need a solid waterproof floor.
  20. after sending to layout just drag it to wherever you want, it stays unless you have to send another view for some reason.
  21. No Chief doesn't have any of this probably b/c everyone has a different computer and video card. My setting are just from experimenting with them. You may find a different setting works better for you. You really can't make a mistake as you can always reset. Also make sure you turn off "software edge smoothing" in the render DBX, let the card do it if you have a fairly new card.
  22. ok here is the rest of it.
