  1. I think your out of luck, as long as you have to pay for the dongle, you might as well just upgrade to X6 for a little more. X6 is so much more than ver 10. Night and Day.
  2. There is something new in Chief X6 that allows you to send to the layout any view you want and it will stick. You can use a Reference layerset to show what you want also. I use them on every project, very handy to have.
  3. I wonder if you made the roof layer "0" thickness or 1/16 and made it no material, then you get plywood??
  4. Costs too much and, you have to wait for the truss co. to build them. My guys are *****'s to the business, They just pound these thing out and don't want any delays
  5. I sometimes do trusses with conventional framing, like if the existing house is trusses and the addition is conventional .There has been a bug around for years now that if you had conventional framing on a second floor, the program would delete some of the trusses below, so I had to fake that part. All of my Builder clients will not buy trusses for an addition. I do know that if you have a partial plan that has trusses, the conventional part will automatically fill in with rafters/ c.j. when you frame it.
  6. Without the truss base the rafters will go to the lower rafters unless you have something else going on. Actually for me, it would be easier to just place a new truss base and drag your trusses up the truss base. Maybe it doesn't copy and paste well. I'll look and see if there is a video somewhere, or just make one.
  7. That's nice, it works ok for me b/c the reason for a watermark on my plan is to try to keep someone from copying it. I also don't use anything with a solid black color and print in grayscale, it seems to work good that way, but I understand everyone has their own thing going on, and the watermark might not show in every s.i. instance. I also place it (in front) very large almost a full sheet size so there is no question about what it is. Light gray (barely readable) color is the key
  8. Scott, you know I learned everything from you. Back then, you were better than the classes we attended. Unless anyone doesn't know, workarounds are in play in this game, and you are the best there ever was, but Joe's catching up fast.
  9. Anytime you have trusses, you need a truss base for a california tie in.
  10. Did you also copy the truss base in the tie-in?
  11. You can put some text, any size you want on layout page "0" and make it a very light shade of gray and it will show up on every page. There are a lot of photo editors for free online you can use like Picmonkey, my wife uses it all the time for her photos
  12. You can adjust a line drawing squiggled to get kind of a hand drawn look, but I really use a watercolor with lines and shadows to get a pretty cool look. One thing in that method, I don't use a lot of the line shaping tool to get a cleaner look to it
  13. ok here is not the best one but one I can find quickly, I did a closer view so you could see some difference
  14. If you say that f12 doesn't update the materials list, I believe you, but it should because it updates the plan. Say you change the floor joists to 2x12 from 2x10, are you saying the floor joists don't change in the materials list.? Remember I never use the materials list, but if that is broken then No-one should use it ever. It may not update if its open.
  15. 0k, now I'm good to go, to get some Chinese food.
  16. I have created a separate annoset for every view sent to the layout so its automatic
  17. I have no friends either, your making me feel bad now.
  18. I don't think Chief utilizes the full power of an SLI setup, at least in the past they said they don't.
  19. Bill, I know that answer is good if you do it the standard way, but somehow Ron is using a macro for his door labels, unconventional so I would have to play around with it to see if it even could be fixed.
