Mickey ok, try this video. http://screencast.com/t/5VAM1clQw

Larry, I was just stating my experience, not yours. It also depends on how long it's been code in your area, it started about a year ago here which means recent to me.
-
B/c of shadows and exactly where the sun is , it can change colors drastically.
-
All that is being enforced here.
-
I always keep dims live. I just don't dimension anything less than 1/2" usually, its close enough for everyone involved. Framers never want to see 1/8" or lower. They just laugh at it and call us names.
-
Wow, it just goes to show, there is no standard nation wide. Larry is just an hour drive from me. Recently a new code surfaced that if your eaves are within 5' of the sideyard they must be 1 hour construction. This is causing some problems with additions, but still measured to the stud.
-
That's a good idea Joe, but we have a lot of 5' sideyards and in most cases, just can't do it.
-
The setbacks around here are never measured from the finish and never has. And I have done work in 50 cities.
-
Robert How much, good bet for me. Nope, the city assessor uses the s.f. from the plan, and I would get a plan check correction if I did it otherwise. Never accepted around here.

How Can I Make Half Of An Upside Down Pyramid Shape?
DRAWZILLA replied to freshrooms's topic in General Q & A
Learn about manual roofs, you'll save yourself a lot of time in the future. This just goes to show ,there is more than one way to skin a cat. -
I would tell those realtor's , not happening.
-
Lew It works for me and 90% of my work is extensive remodels, try it. You can include or not include any room in any schedule to do it.
-
Larry, In my 40 years of drawing ,I have never used outside of stucco for any measurement's, around here the cities want stud to stud.
-
I usually get the correct s.f. on my plans, I use the room finish schedule for that. Sometimes it might be off a couple of s.f. but ,never a problem with any cities, and I've been doing it a long time. It would be nice to get it exactly right, but until its fixed, not a problem for me. I charge by the s.f. so you would think I would complain about it more.
-
I set my grid snaps and dimensions to 1/4" and never have that problem. That cover just about every condition using wood studs.

I'm pretty sure Chief calculates to the center of a garage to house wall but it should really be to the garage side of the wall. It's close enough for me though but some day they will fix it.
-
garage to house wall measures to the center of the middle wall, not the garage side as it should. Chief might have fixed that though.

Unable To Select Attic Area And Specify It As Room
DRAWZILLA replied to bobditch's topic in General Q & A
Did you add a second floor to the plan, no rooms in the attic. did not look at your plan. ok looked at your plan, add a 3rd floor. also your 3rd floor walls have no room def. un-check that. -
Look at your dimensions they are not locating the same side of the wall for the individual room square footages. The way you show the rooms, they would have different sizes. If you dim. was located at the center of the middle wall they would be the same.

Dennis I use the Beta drivers, and have for years, you get the updates a little sooner. NVidia updates about every month,

Strategy Needed For Modeling Foundation Condition
DRAWZILLA replied to Richard_Morrison's topic in General Q & A
You can also use the "Auto detail tool" in section view and it will give you a p-line applied right over the foundation. You can then manipulate that p-line to get exactly what you need to show, but the 3d model and materials list won't be correct. I do this all the time when I can't get the foundation to show correctly in section view. -
B/c your dimensions aren't located on the same side of each wall.

How Can I Convert My Architects Pdf Plan To Chief Plan
DRAWZILLA replied to martinconst's topic in General Q & A
Trace over them, there is no conversion -
I use light sources, you can place them anywhere to lighten up a scene and they don't show up on plan or 3d camera view.

You won't be able to delete some of the original layer-set that comes with the program.
