#4 is possible with my method, just re-size the window and wall any size you want, the casing size is the size of the offset to the wall. I think that my method is just easier to do for most people.

I don't think there is a perfect solution until Chief allows for this anyway.

Right click on any toolbar and choose "Customize toolbars", you can turn them on and off from there.

The pen just records everything in the field and you can send it to the cloud ,or just plug in your pen to a usb port ,and download it into their program you get with the pen. You can export from the program to anywhere you want ,from there. The new pens will work with you're Apple or Android device in the field, then when you get to the office ,its already there for you to use. You have to use their paper booklets to draw on. I'm now to the point that sometimes I can't even read my own writing so I just say my measurements while writing it down, and done

Just playing around with the main layer, so the casing can recess, and don't cut any sections thru the windows b/c there is no framing layer in the exterior wall below the window, I guess you could just label it furred wall.

I use an "ECHO" pen that records everything including any voices and talking that goes on while measuring. Everything you draw goes to your computer along with the voice recording. All you need to do is point your curser to any part of your drawing and the exact voice comments of exactly that timeline will play for you. I also record every minute of the consult, you'll be surprised how many times that saved my a**, when someone says "They didn't say that". They are at Livescribe.com

Here is another way, you can adjust the windows however you want. 2d plan doesn't look correct ,but close. window test plan.plan

Nice Joe, it sure would be nice if Chief would let us recess the casings to the window instead of putting it on the main layer, then we only have to change the casing material to stucco. You can do this with a brick wall now.
-
I use a p-solid 1/2" or 4" thick and apply it in section elevation view or you can use a wall and pull the bottom up. but sometimes you get the framing showing when you don't want it. good luck

Follow the instructions , worked great for me , no trouble at all.
-
Joey, how does that look in vector view, won't you have to delete any extra lines that show up on every window? then if you make any changes , take the extra lines out again.
-
I always try to model it as it would be framed. 2x8 stud wall ,as Joe suggested, using double walls at the windows. 4" stucco wouldn't work for me.
-
Just get out there and do it, we all make mistakes, that's how we learn.
-
On the other hand, I always keep my sections live and never use the view to cad tool, for sections. It's just a matter of adjusting your beams exactly where they should go and getting your model correct. Can be done if you spend a little extra time doing it. Of course, cad details can handle the particulars . You can also mask or overdraw those live sections if need be.

Can Anyone Tell Me Where My Ceiling Has Gone?
DRAWZILLA replied to ladycoralie's topic in General Q & A
The reason why we need the foundation on level 0 is that all the info we have to put on the plan would look very stupid on the basement plan and be very confusing . I always keep my foundation and floor plans seperate. -

Too low for me, I like 24" -
You have to move the sun around to light up each view or place a sun angle on the plan and rotate that.

Thanks Jon, I was not aware of that. I'm not sure I could do anything about it anyway, but Chief can. Chief, can you explain why we have 4 unsecure ports open in X7, when X6 had 1
-
I have highlighted rooms and this happened many times in the past, I just close the plan and bring it up again. I shut down every night.
-
I still don't understand why I can put up X6 and X7 on the same computer and X7 is much slower using the same plan and the same settings.
-
I also see this from time to time and I really don't know why it does it . It's done it in every version I know. The dim. doesn't seem to attach to anything. I just delete it and try again. or draw a cad line where I want the dim. attached.

Is It Possible To Download Chief Tutorial Videos?
DRAWZILLA replied to Mintplanner's topic in General Q & A
Just watch them any time you want, you can also watch them on your tablet or phone. I don't think they sell them anymore. Did you get "SSA"? Like any other software , the longer you are behind the harder it is to catch up. You'll get there, it just might be a little painful for a while. Good luck- 7 replies
