Nothing on removable media or networks. for me. I do use a mirror backup using a compact Hard drive from Carbonite, connected all the time. I could turn off and just backup at the end if the day.

The recent files set to zero did the trick, thank you Doug. I had it set to 20. the only problem is I use that every day so I don't have to search for plans all the time . I might be working on 3 plans at the same time and need this feature. Is there a way to fix this?

well, I not the only one, thanks guys, Chief has me going around and around with this.

We never said" Save -as" anywhere.

This happens a lot and I would like to see it fixed once and for all. Chief please fix this stair bug. The railing will never work correctly until this gets fixed because the handrail will not detect a wall at that triangle point and Chief creates a full rail there.

Look at your window in 3d view and use the "Delete surfaces" tool to delete everything but the window, then use the "Convert to symbol" in the Tools /Symbol section, to create a new symbol. Go back to a plan ,and use the "Get last symbol" to place it in your plan, you might want to save the symbol to your lib. for future use also. Joe beat me to it.

here is one I did a while back. http://www.screencast.com/t/KV6kdcftHJ

are those moldings turned on in the 3D view?

Chief's PDF printer also creates a larger file size.

My property lines are always a cad box in the live plot plan, with line length turned on--no problem, I turn off the terrain perimeter in plot plan view

What I do for that is I have most of my section, foundation, and elevation notes in simple text macro's I created in Ruby. The good thing about that is when you need to make a change to the note, you just change the ruby note and every instance of that note will change automatically in all plans, like code change references or material changes-- very handy. You can copy your existing notes in ruby-- no re-typing necessary.

Save As .pdf W/colored Jpg's Doesn't Work After Update
DRAWZILLA replied to SMCDesign's topic in General Q & A
Nope , I send the plan to the layout using my standard plan layer-set, which I have worked out the colors to print in grayscale. A very light color just won't print well ,so keep the colors on the dark side and use that for all your layersets as a start until you get it the way you want. Plan and presentation are the same colors for me. I do change some colors lighter and darker as needed for different plans like framing vs. floor vs roof plans -
I use the "ALDO" ,up all the time, but I put it on the second monitor--love it.

I see it now, but zooming that close, wouldn't"t that always be like that? Isn't that what the DPI setting is for, higher DPI ,better quality.

Thanks Richard, just didn't help with my situation.

I simply have all my sections and elevation camera's saved to my template plan so they are always there. The only ones I like to show are the section views on the framing plan and the interior wall camera's on the floor plan. By doing it this way the labels are always there. Sometimes I have to adjust the label name.

I'm on Adobe Acrobat 10 and don't see it. Edit, now using Adobe DC, good to go.

Latest Update... Two Ceiling Heights From Macro?
DRAWZILLA replied to dshall's topic in General Q & A
For Scott's plan ,I would break that area into more rooms using the room divider walls put on a layer you can turn off. Haven't tried this yet, does it supply dropped soffit ceiling height. -
I also don't see any issues.
-
You can move it in place after.
-
My view is why do it yourself, when Barry can do it better.

Make your sub-fascia to 1/16" thick and change your blocking to vertical in the framing DBX and don't forget to re-build the framing.. The sub-fascia controls the depth of the eaves so you could get a 2x4 eave on a 2x10 rafter if you already didn't know.
