I know they are working on the switching windows and recent files lag problem. Did you try reducing the recent files to zero?

Any Videos Or Tutorials On The Layout Revision Table?
DRAWZILLA replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
here is a short video for basic layout revisions. http://screencast.com/t/duIXsQ0IbBFR -
You said you have other packages also, what are they and how much?
-
Sorry to see you go, good luck with the new gig.
-
Joey, how can you match existing materials when clearly the historical district doesn't want you to? The building must look different.
-
I also did one in Whittier and got to add 2700 s.f. to the house, without a problem but there were historical homes not far away. I'll bet they are mad.
-
When a lot my clients bought their homes , this law wasn't around, so other additions for the last 100 years didn't have this problem, they matched. Their neighbors got to do whatever they wanted, so none of that was preserved. I tell them now they must comply or don't do anything at all. You can imagine what they said to me. I actually have clients suing the city over this. I also have clients selling the home. I tell them I can do something nice but won't match, they throw me out the door and move.
-
Tommy, I guess you haven't run into this yet, but it's crazy, and it's nation wide. Historical Districts around here are nuts if you ask me. Don't match the existing house, who would have thought, thank you to our new Secretary of the Interior.
-
Tommy, are you finding that the Historical Districts do not want the addition to match the existing house so you can tell the difference, per the Dept. of the Interior mandate law now. they are enforcing it around here. They have gone so far as to make me offset the addition from the original house and no trim to match.

What about for Additions, can we turn on and off specific roof planes as we need in the schedule
-
If , temporally, you drag the front of the roof plane out say 15' or more , you won't get that behavior. Create your tie in and move it back.
-
I use a different take. On a complete plan and having major changes, I will turn on all automatic, foundation, framing, just like if it was new and make the changes, then at some point turn off all the automatic stuff and finish. Some times you just have to redraw the whole thing, but you can charge for it, and you can copy things to the new plan to make it a lot simpler to do.

I don't think that fireplaces have changed since ver. 10, but the question is hard to figure out, if you mean the fireplace that's one thing, and the chimney has always been a p-solid. If you are talking about the fireplace just make it higher from the fireplace DBX, if it's a p-solid chimney, just drag it up. It all depends on how you made it.

The last patch did not solve my issue, with the recent files problem
-
Boy, those Squiggle prices sure have gone up, I got version 6 for 69 bucks, back in the day.
-
I was thinking he wanted something for printed media or flyer.
-
No , I haven't seen this, ever, but I don't get pdf's from others that have ever had this problem. I would like to find out what "certain PDF's" mean.
-
Doug, when we see this, couldn't we just re-save it in another "PDF" program that works. It would be nice to know which programs are doing this.
-
Yes he did, Take a top view of the floor plan.
-
Scott and I do a lot of things the same, I use a template rather than the S.A.M. method as he does. Scott is very fast and can deal with all that stuff. I am slowing down and don't want to deal with all that stuff. Scott also uses hotkeys and I don't b/c I'm can't remember all that, so I like toolbar icons.

I like using the watercolor with line tool, you can squiggle the lines to please and they look good in grayscale if you print them.
-
I usually just copy another layer-set that is close to what I want, then re-name it Reference--something, so I know its a ref. layer-set. It takes a while to set up but once done , it really done forever.
-
All I'm saying is , you can bring it into another PDF program that has the file reduce tool and make it smaller, to see if that helps you.
-
I still like the box scale better for me b/c I don't put the scale on the plan, I put it on the layout box view and want all the labels the same size.
-
Maybe you can open it in Adobe Acrobat or another 3rd party program and reduce the file size without effecting the content.
